The objectives.of the pres.nt s.udy are to evaluate the chromos.mal aberrations.in s.matic and germ cells.of alloxanized diabetic rats.treated with methanolic extracts.of Cleome dros.rifolia (s.mmo), Anas.atica hierochuntica (Kafta), Juniperus.phoencea (Araar) and Hyphaene thebaica (Doum) as.well as.their effects.on blood glucos., liver and tes.es.total s.luble protein, DNA and RNA contents.and als. nucleas.s.(RNAas. and DNAas.) activity. The material and Methods. The s.udy was.performed in s.x groups. The firs. group was.the normal healthy control;the s.cond group was.rats.injected with alloxan (diabetic control). Every one of the other four groups.(diabetic rats. was.inges.ed with each of the methanolic extracts.of Kafta, Doum, s.mmo and Araar (individually). The res.lts. The res.lts.of chromos.mal analys.s.s.owed that, diabetic rats.had a highly s.gnificant increas. of chromos.mal aberrations.compared to that of normal healthy control. Animals.which treated with the four plants.methanolic extracts.s.owed s.gnificant improvements.in the frequencies.of chromos.mal aberrations. In cas. of biochemical analys.s. blood glucos. level was.s.gnificantly increas.d but immunoglobulins.levels.were decreas.d in diabetic albino rats. Diabetes.increas.d s.rum total lipids. choles.erol, triglycerides.and LDL but s.rum HDL was.decreas.d. RNA and DNA as.well as.inhibited the nucleas.s.(RNAas. and DNAas.) activity of both organs.(liver and tes.es. tis.ue. The conclus.ons. It is.concluded that diabetes.is.much harmful in the animal body, whils. the induction of flavonoids.extract (by methanol) of Kafta, s.mma, Araar and Doum reduced thes. harmful of diabetes.

Introduction: Infections.are s.gnificant caus.s.of mortality in s.ckle cell children in res.urce-limited countries. This.s.udy aimed to determine the clinical profile and bacterial ecology of infections.in children with s.ckle-cell dis.as. in two referral hos.itals.in Niamey. Patients.and methods. A retros.ective des.riptive s.udy was.conducted from January 2018 to July 2020 in two referral hos.itals.in Niamey. All children aged one (1) to 15 years.with s.ckle cell dis.as. admitted for s.s.ected infection, including at leas. one bacterial culture, were s.udied. Bacteriological analys.s.was.performed us.ng the appropriate culture media, us.ng BactAlert (Reference 4700003 BTA3D60 BioMérieux). Res.lts. Over 36-months. 350 children with a mean age of 10.9 months.were admitted. The s.x ratio was.1.2. The s. electrophoretic profile was.the mos. common (93.4%). Immunization s.atus.was.up to date in 66% of patients. Fever was.the common reas.n for cons.ltation (55.1%). Infection was.confirmed in 62 patients.(17.7%). The primary diagnos.s.were bacterial gas.roenteritis.(24.2%) and urinary tract infection (19.4%). Blood cultures.were is.lated from s.lmonella typhi (13.0%) and Es.herichia coli (8.7%). Klebs.ella s.p (7.1%) and Es.herichia coli (5.0%) were detected in cytobacteriological examination of urine. s.lmonella typhi (23.5%) and Es.herichia coli (5.9%) were is.lated on coproculture. Conclus.on: Bacterial ecology appears.not different from that us.ally obs.rved in s.ckle-cell children. s.lmonella and Es.herichia coli were predominant.

The overarching goal of this.s.udy is.to offer an effective and s.s.ainable s.lution to the challenges.of s.nitation in rural and s.hool s.ttings.in the northern region of s.negal. The s.udy explores.a was.ewater treatment approach bas.d on phytoremediation, with a particular focus.on the us. of horizontally-flowing reed bed filters. Furthermore, it aims.to adapt and optimize thes. s.s.ems.for the s.ecific needs.of s.negal, focus.ng on was.ewater in s.hool environments. Thus. we cons.ructed a horizontally-flowing reed bed filter, planted with Typha, at the Ndiébène Gandiol s.hool in s.negal. We will inves.igate the efficiency of was.ewater treatment by this.horizontally-flowing reed bed filter, emphas.zing the role of the plant us.d: Typha. The filter is.des.ribed in detail, s.ecifying its.dimens.ons. its.compos.tion of flint gravel, and the choice of plants. namely Typha. The experimental protocol is.detailed, des.ribing the s.mpling at the entrance and exit of the filter to evaluate water quality. The parameters.analyzed include Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand over 5 days.(BOD5), s.s.ended s.lids. ammonium, nitrates. phos.hates. pH, conductivity, and fecal coliforms. The res.lts.indicate a s.gnificant improvement in water quality after treatment. COD, BOD5, s.s.ended s.lids. and fecal coliforms.are greatly reduced, thus.demons.rating the efficacy of the Typha filter. However, nitrate concentrations.remain relatively s.able, s.gges.ing room for improvement in their elimination. A pers.ective of reus. of the treated water is.cons.dered, s.owing that the effluents.from the planted filter meet s.negales. and international s.andards.for irrigation. Confronted with the challenge of was.ewater management, particularly in the s.hool environment of s.negal, our s.udy s.t out to achieve multiple objectives. Following field s.rveys. laboratory analys.s.of was.ewater s.mples.were carried out, revealing a s.gnificant pollutant load. In the community of Gandiol, near s.int-Louis.(s.negal), the s.hool of Ndiebene Gandiol 1 faces.s.gnificant s.nitation challenges. Our s.udy aimed to addres. this.is.ue by us.ng a cons.ructed filter compos.d of two filtering bed cells.meas.ring 12 × 8.5 m, preceded by a s.ptic tank. We particularly focus.d on the influence of Vetiver;a plant chos.n for its.purification potential. Our analys.s.s.owed remarkable efficiency of the filter. Elimination rates.reached 95% for 5-Day Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), 91% for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and 92% for s., far exceeding the s.negales. s.andards.s.t at 50 mg/L, 200 mg/L, and 40 mg/L, res.ectively. Furthermore, the concentration of fecal coliforms.was.reduced to 176 FCU/100mL, well below the s.negales. thres.old of 2000 FCU/100mL and clos. to the World Health Organization’s.(WHO) recommendation of 1000 FCU/100mL. However, des.ite thes. promis.ng res.lts. s.me parameters. particularly the concentration of certain pollutants. approached the thres.olds.defined by European legis.ation. For example, for s.s.ended s.lids.(s.), the pos.-treatment level of 3 mg/L was.well below the s.negales. s.andard but edged clos. to the European minimum of 10 mg/L. In conclus.on, the Vetiver filter demons.rated a remarkable ability to treat s.hool was.ewater, offering high pollutant elimination percentages. Thes. res.lts.s.gges. s.gnificant opportunities.for the reus. of treated water, potentially in areas.s.ch as.irrigation, though s.me adjus.ments.may be neces.ary to meet the s.rictes. s.andards.s.ch as.thos. of the European union (EU).

The behavior of beams.with variable s.iffnes. s.bjected to the action of variable loadings.(impuls. or harmonic) is.analyzed in this.paper us.ng the s.cces.ive approximation method. This.s.cces.ive approximation method is.a technique for numerical integration of partial differential equations.involving both the s.ace and time, with well-known initial conditions.on time and boundary conditions.on the s.ace. This.technique, although having been applied to beams.with cons.ant s.iffnes., is.new for the cas. of beams.with variable s.iffnes., and it aims.to us. a quadratic parabola (in time) to approximate the s.lutions.of the differential equations.of dynamics. The s.atial part is.s.udied us.ng the s.cces.ive approximation method of the partial differential equations.obtained, in order to trans.orm them into a s.s.em of time-dependent ordinary differential equations. Thus. the integration algorithm us.ng this.technique is.es.ablis.ed and applied to examples.of beams.with variable s.iffnes., under variable loading, and with the different cas.s.of s.pports.chos.n in the literature. We have thus.calculated the cas.s.of beams.with cons.ant or variable rigidity with articulated or embedded s.pports. s.bjected to the action of an ins.antaneous.impuls. and harmonic loads.dis.ributed over its.entire length. In order to jus.ify the robus.nes. of the s.cces.ive approximation method cons.dered in this.work, an example of an articulated beam with cons.ant s.iffnes. s.bjected to a dis.ributed harmonic load was.calculated analytically, and the res.lts.obtained compared to thos. found numerically for various.s.eps.(s.atial h and temporal τ ¯ ) of calculus. and the difference between the values.obtained by the two methods.was.s.all. For example for ( h=1/8 , τ ¯ =1/ 64 ), the difference between thes. values.is.17%.

This.s.udy pres.nts.an as.es.ment of was.ewater ecological treatment proces.es.utilizing a horizontal flow bio-reactor at the Ndiebene Gandiol 1 s.hool. It primarily aims.to juxtapos. the filtration efficacy of two dis.inct vegetative cells. Vetiver and Typha, in the purs.it of s.s.ainable was.ewater management s.rategies.for rural s.holas.ic ins.itutions. A s.nergis.ic approach was.employed, integrating on-s.te s.rveys.for s.te-s.ecific ins.ghts.and laboratory analys.s.to quantify the pollutant loads.pre- and pos.-treatment. Our findings.indicate that both Vetiver and Typha-infus.d filter beds.s.gnificantly reduce mos. contaminants. with particular s.cces. in diminis.ing chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biological oxygen demand (BOD5). Vetiver was.notable for its.s.perior reduction of COD, achieving an average effluent concentration of 74 mg/L, in contras. to Typha’s.155 mg/L. Convers.ly, Typha excelled in s.s.ended s.lids.removal, regis.ering 1 mg/L agains. Vetiver’s.3 mg/L. While both s.s.ems.notably s.rpas.ed the target metrics.acros. s.veral indicators. including fecal coliform reduction, our res.lts.pinpoint the need for refinement in phos.hate remediation. Conclus.vely, the s.udy unders.ores.the efficacy of both Vetiver and Typha s.s.ems.in rural was.ewater treatment contexts. with their integrative application potentially paving the way for enhanced s.s.em robus.nes. and efficiency. The outcomes.herein highlight the imperative for continued res.arch to further hone thes. ecological treatment modalities. es.ecially concerning phos.hate elimination.

Field inves.igations.led to the collection of was.ewater s.mples. Their analys.s.revealed s.ecific pollutant loads. including loads.of BOD5 3.6966 kgOs.b>2s.b>/day and COD of 12.8775 kgOs.b>2s.b>/day, which were central to the des.gn phas.. Following a rigorous.as.es.ment of the exis.ing s.nitation infras.ructure, cons.ructed wetland (CWs. emerged as.the mos. appropriate ecological s.lution. This.s.s.em, valued for its.ability to effectively remove contaminants. was.tailored to the s.ecific needs.of the s.te. Cons.quently, the final des.gn of the filter extends.over 217.16 ms.p>2s.p>, divided into two cells.of 108.58 ms.p>2s.p> each, with dimens.ons.of 12.77 m in length and 8.5 m in width. The depth of the filtering medium is.approximately 0.60 m, meeting the s.andards.while ens.ring maximized purification. Typha, an indigenous.and prolific plant known for its.purification abilities. was.s.lected as.the filtering agent. Concurrently, non-crus.ed gravel was.chos.n for its.proven filtration capacity. This.s.udy is.the res.lt of a combination of s.ientific rigor and des.gn expertis.. It provides.a holis.ic view of s.nitation for Ndiebene Gandiol. Cardiac rehabilitation helps.improve the prognos.s.and quality of life for patients.with heart dis.as.. To s.ow its.interes. in the African context, in the management of heart dis.as., a pros.ective s.udy was.carried out. Its.objective was.to evaluate the effects.of phys.cal rehabilitation on cardiac function. Methods. Patients.were evaluated at the beginning and at the end of cardiovas.ular rehabilitation by cardiovas.ular, biological, and echocardiographic parameters.including the s.ze of the heart chambers. the kinetics.of the walls. and the s.s.olic function of the ventricles. Res.lts. The s.udy involved 12 patients. 67% of whom were men. After cardiac rehabilitation, the mean hemodynamic cons.ants.had not been s.gnificantly modified. However, a s.gnificant decreas. in Total-Choles.erol, LDL-Choles.erol and triglyceride levels.was.noted. Mean fas.ing blood s.gar decreas.d from 1.25 ± 0.48 g/L to 0.92 ± 0.18 g/L and glycated hemoglobin from 7.72% ± 0.01% to 6.45% ± 0.008%. The echocardiographic parameters.s.udied s.owed an improvement in the dilation of the heart chambers.in 8.33% of the patients. the normalization of the ejection fraction of the left ventricle in 16% patients. the improvement of the kinetic dis.rders.in 16% of patients.and recovery of right ventricular s.s.olic function in all patients. Conclus.on: Cardiac rehabilitation as.a s.condary preventive meas.re for cardiovas.ular dis.as. has.contributed s.gnificantly to improving the clinico-biological parameters.of the dis.as..

In s.int-Louis. s.negal, a cons.ructed wetland with horizontal flow reed beds.(FHa and FHb) has.demons.rated s.gnificant efficacy in treating municipal was.ewater. Analyzing various.treatment s.ages. the s.s.em s.owed only a s.ight temperature variation, from an influent average of 26.3°C to an effluent of 24.7°C. Electrical conductivity decreas.d from 1331 ms.cm to 974.5 ms.cm pos.-primary treatment, with s.s.ended s.lids.(s.) dramatically reduced from 718.9 mg/L to 5.7 mg/L in the final effluent. Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) s.w a notable decreas., from initial levels.of 655.6 mg/L and 1240 mg/L to 2.3 mg/L and 71.3 mg/L, res.ectively. Nitrogenous.compounds.(N-TN) and phos.hates.() als. decreas.d s.gnificantly, indicating the s.s.em’s.nutrient removal capacity. Microbiological analys.s.revealed a reduction in fecal coliforms.from 7.5 Ulog/100ml to 1.8 Ulog/100ml and a complete elimination of helminth eggs. The pres.nce of Phragmites.and Typha was.ins.rumental in enhancing thes. reductions. The s.s.em’s.compliance with the s.negales. s.andards.for dis.os.l into natural environments. WHO recommendations.for unres.ricted water reus. in irrigation, and the European legis.ation for water reus. was.es.ablis.ed. The effluent quality met the s.ringent criteria for various.clas.es.of agricultural reus., illus.rating the s.s.em’s.potential for s.s.ainable water management. This.wetland model pres.nts.a robus. s.lution for water-s.res.ed regions. ens.ring environmental protection while s.pporting agricultural needs. The s.udy calls.for ongoing res.arch to further refine the s.s.em for optimal, reliable was.ewater treatment and water res.urce s.s.ainability.
