Relationship between vitamin D and IL-23,IL-17 and macrophage chemoattractant protein-1 as markers of fibrosis in hepatitis C virus Egyptians

AIM: To assess vitamin D in hepatitis C patients and its relationship to interleukin (IL)-23, IL-17, and macrophage chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1). METHODs: The study was conducted on 50 Egyptian hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype number IV-infected patients and 25 age- and gender-matched healthy subjects. Venous blood samples were obtained. samples were allowed to clot and sera were separated by centrifugation and stored at -20?°C. A 25 hydroxy vitamin D assay was carried out using solid phase RIA. A 1,25 dihydroxy vitamin D assay was carried out using a commercial kit purchased from Incstar Corporation. IL-17 and -23 and MCP-1 were assayed by an enzyme immunoassay. Quantitative and qualitative polymerase chain reaction for HCV virus were done by TaqMan technology. Only HCV genotype IV-infected subjects were included in the study. The mean ± sD were determined, a t-test for comparison of means of different parameters was used. Correlation analysis was done using Pearson’s correlation. Differences among different groups were determined using the Kruskal-Wallis test. REsULTs: The mean vitamin D level in HCV patients (group?I) was 15 ± 5.2 ng/mL while in control (group II) was 39.7 ± 10.8. For active vitamin D in group?I?as 16.6 ± 4.8 ng/mL while in group II was 41.9 ± 7.9. IL-23 was 154 ± 97.8 in group?I?and 6.7 ± 2.17 in group II. IL-17 was 70.7 ± 72.5 in cases and 1.2 ± 0.4 in control. MCP-1 was 1582 ± 794.4 in group?I?and 216.1 ± 5.38 in group II. Vitamin D deficiency affected 72% of HCV-infected patients and 0% of the control group. Vitamin D insufficiency existed in 28% of HCV-infected patients and 12% of the control group. One hundred percent of the cirrhotic patients and 40% of non cirrhotic HCV-infected patients had vitamin D deficiency. IL-23, IL-17, and MCP-1 were markedly increased in HCV-infected patients in comparison to controls.A significant negative correlation between vitamin D and IL-17 and -23 and MCP-1 was detected. The current study summarizes the current status of wastewater stabilization ponds(WsPs)treatment plants that have already been built in 11 governorates throughout ***,this study aims to determine the most appropriate chlorine dose for waste stabilization ponds(WsPs)effluents to ensure the treated effluents are suitable for reuse in unrestricted irrigation and to comply with the current legislation on direct discharge onto water *** to the findings,the chlorine doses used as a disinfectant in the treated effluents of the majority of WsP treatment plants ranged from 3 to 13 mg/***,two of the WsPs treatment plants effluents,the Qus WsPs treatment plant in Qena governorate and the al Zarabii WsPs treatment plant in Asyut governorate used high chlorine doses reached to 17 and 19 mg/L,*** is due to the fact that both the Qus and al Zarabii WsPs treatment plants have a high organic load,which necessitated the use of more chlorine to achieve the optimum chlorine dose at 13 mg/L for Qus and 11mg/L for al *** findings demonstrated that chlorine has a powerful effect in completely removing ***,in most chlorine-treated wastewater final effluents,as the chlorine doses increased,the chlorophyll-a reading *** amount of trihalomethanes(THMs)produced as disinfectant byproduct was *** results proved that the water can be used in unrestricted irrigation,and after adding chlorine,it can be dumped on water bodies without health risks.

Using the underwater acoustic channel(UWA)for information dissemination requires a high data ***,some phenomena like refraction,reflection,phase shift,and high attenuation are undesirably apparent when the subject of using UWA is ***,sound communication would be a highly challenging task to be ***,proposing a model of acoustic underwater communication channels is critical because of the multipath interference originating from the surface and bottom of the *** this contribution,a straightforward geometry channel model for vertical and horizontal marine communications is *** do so,transmission loss and channel impulse response are analyzed as a function of transmitter and receiver distance,water depth,and reflection *** results of the model proposed in this paper are in very good agreement with those available in the *** findings indicate that the delay spread of horizontal communication with a 1000 m range reaches79 ms and 0.3 s for 30 m vertical communication.

An Integrated Model of Job Involvement, Job satisfaction and Organizational Commitment: A structural Analysis in Jordan’s Banking sector

The purpose of this research is to investigate the interrelationships among the three behavioural constructs of job involvement, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Accordingly, a structural model is developed to delineate the interactions among these constructs and explore the mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between job involvement and organizational commitment. A questionnaire-based survey was designed to test the aforementioned model based on a dataset of 315 employees working in twelve out of twenty six banks operating in the capital city of Jordan, Amman. The model and posited hypotheses were tested using structural equation modelling analysis. The results indicated that job involvement positively and significantly affects job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Additionally, job satisfaction proved to be positively related to organizational commitment. Furthermore, job satisfaction positively and significantly partially mediated the relationship between job involvement and organizational commitment.

Constrained spherical Hartree-Fock (CsHF) calculations under radial compression are presented for sup>90sup>Zr in a model space consisting of nine major oscillator shells. An effective baryon-baryon interaction which includes the Δ resonances is used. The nucleon-nucleon (N-N) interaction is Reid soft Core (RsC) potential. The sensitivity of the results to the choice model space is examined. It is found that the nuclear system becomes more compressible when the model space is increased. The radial density and the number of Δs are decreased by increasing model space. The results suggest that the behavior of single particle energies is independent of the model space.

Rational construction of hierarchical multi-component materials with abundant heterostructure is evolving as a promising strategy to achieve excellent metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)based electromagnetic wave(EMW)***,hierarchical heterostructure Ws_(2)/Cos_(2)@carbonized cotton fiber(CCF)was fabricated using the ZIF-67 MOFs nanosheets anchored cotton fiber(ZIF-67@CF)as a precursor through the tungsten etching,sulfurization,and carbonization *** from the synergetic effect of dielectric-magnetic dual-loss mechanism,the hierarchical heterostructure and multicomponent of Ws_(2)/Cos_(2)@CCF also display improved impedance ***,numerous W-s-Co bands and heterojunction interfaces of heterogeneous Ws_(2)/Cos_(2)are beneficial to promoting additional interfacial/dipole polarization loss and conductive loss,thereby enhancing the EMW attenuation *** on the percolation theory,a good balance between impedance matching and EMW absorption capacity was achieved for the Ws_(2)/Cos_(2)@CCF/paraffin composite with 20 wt.%filler loading,exhibiting strong EMW absorption capability with a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of−51.26 dB at 17.36 GHz with 2 mm thickness and a maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EABmax)as wide as 6.72 *** research will provide new guidance for designing high-efficient MOFs derived EMW absorbers.

A syndrome of Vitamin D3 Deficiency/Fibromyalgia/Hyperparathyroidism Mimicking Rheumatoid Arthritis, a Clinical Prospective study

Objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis is sometimes misdiagnosed for other diseases, like psoriatic arthritis, erosive OA, viral arthritis, reactive arthritis, IBD arthritis, Lyme’s disease, and palindromic rheumatism. Secondary hyperparathyroidism was not included in the differential diagnosis of RA, though it sometimes presents with joint pains and tenderness, and even arthritis. Fibromyalgia is a psychosomatic disorder characterized by chronic widespread pain and tender areas. Mimicry of some manifestations of these diseases sometimes results in misdiagnosis as RA. Methods: Two hundred patients previously diagnosed as RA from outpatient clinics in Al-Azhar Faculty of Medicine, attended as not responding to medical treatment of RA. All patients were subjected to a re-evaluation of disease activity including HAQ, and DAS 28, CDAI, and SDAI. Also, we measured serum vitamin D3, PTH, total and ionized Calcium, Phosphorus, Uric acid, ACPA, and other routine lab. All patients were exposed to various radiological imaging modalities. Results: Cases not responding to RA treatment were reevaluated and were found to have a syndrome of fibromyalgia associated with vitamin D3 deficiency and secondary hyperparathyroidism. Conclusions: Fibromyalgia/Hyperparathyroidism syndrome is an underdiagnosed disease, which results from chronic vitamin D3 deficiency. SHPT can cause bone erosions, which are mostly shaggy in appearance and distributed in the radiocarpal, radioulnar, metacarpophalangeal and distal interphalangeal joints, in contrast to that which predominate proximal IP joints of rheumatoid arthritis. Radiology of FM/HPT syndrome patients revealed a sign of spur-like excrescences in terminal finger tufts unilaterally or bilaterally, which we think is pathognomonic.

With the innovation of microelectronics technology, the heat dissipation problem inside the device will face a severe test. In this work, cellulose aerogel(CA) with highly enhanced thermal conductivity(TC) in vertical planes was successfully obtained by constructing a vertically aligned silicon carbide nanowires(siC NWs)/boron nitride(BN) network via the ice template-assisted strategy. The unique network structure of siC NWs connected to BN ensures that the TC of the composite in the vertical direction reaches 2.21 W m^(-1) K^(-1) at a low hybrid filler loading of 16.69 wt%, which was increased by 890% compared to pure epoxy(EP). In addition, relying on unique porous network structure of CA, EP-based composite also showed higher TC than other comparative samples in the horizontal direction. Meanwhile, the composite exhibits good electrically insulating with a volume electrical resistivity about 2.35 × 10^(11) Ω cm and displays excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance with a minimum reflection loss of-21.5 dB and a wide effective absorption bandwidth(s work provides a new strategy for manufacturing polymer-based composites with excellent multifunctional performances in microelectronic packaging applications.
