Background: Despite the dietary guidelines for healthy eating (HE) and daily recommended food servings to promote healthy dietary patterns among the population in Saudi Arabia, the incidence of unhealthy eating has increased. Methods: We used the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as a conceptual framework to explain and understand important factors affecting HE among Saudi adults. Six hundred forty-seven Saudi adults were recruited for an online survey. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 26.74 ± 8.21 years;the majority of subjects (74.1%) were young adults and were primarily female (60.1%). The correlation analysis indicated a positive correlation between all the TPB components and HE. The present study shows that positive attitudes and perceived behavioral control are the strongest predictors of HE intuition. The path analysis showed a good overall model fit (RMSEA = 0.034;CFI = 0.975;NFI = 974;GFI = 0.975) (χ2 = 4.1964, df = 3, p = 0.45). Conclusion: Understanding the factors that influence behavior can improve dietary patterns and quality of life and can reduce the risks of chronic diseases.

Osteoporosis has been recognized as a major public health problem by healthcare providers in Saudi Arabia. The present study examines the osteoporosis knowledge, health beliefs, and some of the life habits in two different Saudi women’s groups (with family history, and without family history), to find the association of their knowledge and health beliefs with their preventive practice. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted among a convenience sample of 288 young age (20 to 40 years) women attending the health centers in Al-Hassa, Saudi Arabia. Both groups had an inadequate daily calcium intake with a significant difference between them. The women without family history had low mean of knowledge (8.9 ± 2.7) compared with family history group (9.3 ± 2.7) with a significant difference (p = 0.04). Based on the Osteoporosis Health Belief Scale (OHBS) subscale mean score, the perceived susceptibility and perceived severity were lower in women without family history with a significant difference between the groups (p = 0.02, 0.00;respectively). The family history group had lower mean score barriers of calcium intake and exercise with a significant difference between groups (p = 0.017, 0.013;respectively). Statistically significant correlation was found between calcium intake and OHBS subscale perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits of calcium intake and exercise, and perceived barriers of exercise only for the family history group. This study indicates inadequate daily calcium intake, with moderate knowledge of osteoporosis in Saudi women and highlights the need for diet and life habits interventions to improve calcium intake and exercise, which may help to reduce the burden of osteoporosis in Saudi Arabia.

Remote sensing image processing engaged researchers’attentiveness in recent years,especially *** main problem in classification is the ratio of the correct predictions after *** extraction is the foremost important step to build high-performance image *** convolution neural networks can extract images’features that significantly improve the image classifiers’*** paper proposes two efficient approaches for remote sensing images classification that utilizes the concatenation of two convolution channels’outputs as a features extraction using two classic convolution models;these convolution models are the ResNet 50 and the DenseNet *** elicited features have been used by the fully connected neural network classifier and support vector machine classifier as input *** results of the proposed methods are compared with other antecedent approaches in the same experimental *** is based on learning curves plotted during the training of the proposed classifier that is based on a fully connected neural network and measuring the overall accuracy for the both proposed *** proposed classifiers are used with their trained weights to predict a big remote sensing scene’s classes for a developed *** results ensure that,compared with the other traditional classifiers,the proposed classifiers are further accurate.

Hydroxyapatite ceramics (HA) has been proved to be excellent in biocompatibility and bioactivity. However, limited information is available concerning how HA ceramics affects the maturation of osteoblasts in molecular biological level in vitro. This study examines the mRNA expression and protein production of bone-related genes in osteoblast-like cell line (Saos-2) cultured on HA disks. Saos-2 cells are seeded onto the substrates and cultured for 18 days. Harvested cells are tested for the cell growth rate, expression of mRNAs for osteocalcin and alkaline phosphatase, and protein production of bone sialoprotein and osteocalcin. MTS assay shows that cell proliferates well on HA ceramic substrate. After 9d, bone sialoprotein and osteocalcin protein production in SaPS-2 increases more on HA surfaces than on control material. As bone sialoprotein and osteocalcin are the genes to be highly expressed at the late stage of osteoblast differentiation, this study reveals that after long time culture in HA, HA can induce Saos-2 maturation. The behavior of Saos-2 on HA surfaces revealed in this study provides valuable information for the understanding of the biocompatibility and bioactivity of HA ceramics.

Prognostic Clinico-Pathological Features of 99 Cases Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer—Egyptian National Cancer Institute

Background: Worldwide, lung cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and causes more deaths than any other cancer. In Egypt;it accounts for 7% of male cancer & 3% in females. It is considered to be 3rd most common cancer in Egyptian males & 6th most common of both sexes. Materials and Methods: A total of 99 advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients who underwent first line platinum containing chemotherapy in our institute were included in this study. All clinical and pathological data were collected from patient’s files retrospectively between 2012-2014. Results: All 99 cases were diagnosed at late stage IIIB-IV (59 cases were IIIB).The median age was 54 years (range: 30 - 70) with 53% of cases are ≥ 54 years. 71% were males with male: female ratio of 2.4:1. All male patients were chronic smokers. The most frequent symptom was coughing (68%). Most of the patients had primary lung cancer in the right lung (77%). The most common histological subtype was squamous cell carcinoma (35.4%) with 54 cases present with PS-I, the remain was PS-II. All cases received platinum containing chemotherapy. The majority of cases experienced a progressive disease 60.6%. The median progression free survival (PFS) was 6 months & median overall survival (OS) was 18 months. We found that PS, disease stage, pathological subtypes and response to treatment statistically affect both median OS & PFS. Age affects only OS. Conclusions: Our analysis suggests that some of clinico-pathological factors & response to first line platinum containing regimens affect both OS & PFS of advanced NSCLC. This may be beneficial as prognostic markers and further studies were needed to aid in identification and treatment of these patients.

Using the underwater acoustic channel(UWA)for information dissemination requires a high data ***,some phenomena like refraction,reflection,phase shift,and high attenuation are undesirably apparent when the subject of using UWA is ***,sound communication would be a highly challenging task to be ***,proposing a model of acoustic underwater communication channels is critical because of the multipath interference originating from the surface and bottom of the *** this contribution,a straightforward geometry channel model for vertical and horizontal marine communications is *** do so,transmission loss and channel impulse response are analyzed as a function of transmitter and receiver distance,water depth,and reflection *** results of the model proposed in this paper are in very good agreement with those available in the *** findings indicate that the delay spread of horizontal communication with a 1000 m range reaches79 ms and 0.3 s for 30 m vertical communication.

Botrytis cinerea affects plant yield and quality. Many Botrytis species are morphologically similar leading to difficulty in pathogen identification. Spectroscopy can be used to identify pathogenic fungi. This study describes a novel method for fungal characterization. Here, we determined the spectral signatures of different B. cinerea isolates as well as various fungal genera. A unique spectral pattern was investigated at both genus and isolate level. The short wave infrared II (2055 - 2315 nm) provided the best discrimination between the fungal samples observed. Moreover, the spectral analysis was performed on non-transformed data and investigated significant differences among fungal genera as well as B. cinerea isolates, while the results investigated high similarity among replicates of the same isolate of B. cinerea. The results of each spectral test were obtained reproducibly without an expensive cost consumable during sample preparation and measurements. This innovative approach would allow us to identify, discriminate and classify fungi rapidly and inexpensively at the genus, species and isolate level.

Background: Ovarian Yolk sac tumor (OYST) is a rare entity of malignant ovarian germ cell tumors (MOGCT). Abdominal pain, a rapidly growing distending mass or irregular vaginal bleeding is the main presentation. Serum AFP is elevated in nearly all cases. The standard management is fertility preserving surgery with adjuvant chemotherapy. Aim of Work: To report and analyze retrospectively recorded cases that were either treated at National Cancer Institute/Egypt or referred there for advice about therapy. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective single-institutional analysis of 18 cases of OYST treated at National Cancer Institute-Cairo University from January 2011 till December 2015. The clinical and pathological characteristics, treatment, and outcomes of these patients were analyzed. Results: Data from eighteen patients were obtained. The median age was 18 years (range: 15 - 22). Abdominal pain was the most common presentation (89%). The mean tumor size was 21cm (range: 8 - 30 cm). Eleven of our cases (61%) were stage I, seven cases and (39%) were stage IV at presentation. Fifteen cases (83%) underwent fertility preserving procedure & the standard surgical staging. Panhysterectomy & formal staging procedure was done only in two cases (11%). One case (6%) underwent bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. 2 cases (11.1%) only underwent lymph node biopsy. 11 patient (61.1%) showed pure type YST while mixed type was present in the remaining 7 cases (38.8%): Dysgerminoma (one case, 5.6%), Dysgerminoma + immature teratoma (one case, 5.6%), Immature teratoma (2 cases, 11.1%) and Teratoma (3 cases, 16.7%). AFP was extremely elevated in all cases at presentation (median 4191 ng/mL;ranging: 725 ng/mL - 402,908 ng/mL). It showed decreased level after surgery (median 145 ng/ mL;ranging: 2 ng/mL - 38,000 ng/mL) & normalized after chemotherapy except for progressive disease.
