BACKGROUND： Nogo A antigen is the major inhibiting factor blocking regeneration of the injured spinal cord. Neutralizing Nogo A antigens using Nogo A antibodies may help promote neurite regeneration and nervous function recovery. For successful regeneration, sustained release of the antibody from a biodegradable material loaded with Nogo A antibodies to the injury site is required. OBJECTIVE： To compare the therapeutic effects of poly lactic-co-glycolic acid （PLGA）-Nogo A antibody delayed-release microspheres and Nogo A antibody alone on spinal regeneration in Sprague-Dawley rats with complete transverse injury to the spinal cord. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A randomized, controlled animal trial was performed at the Pharmacological Laboratory of West China Center of Medical Sciences, Sichuan University, between October 2007 and January 2008. MATERIALS： Goat anti-rat Nogo A monoclonal antibody was purchased from Santa, American; goat anti-rat neurofilament 200 monoclonal antibody was from Zhongshan Goldenbridge, Beijing, China; PLGA-Nogo A antibody delayed-release microspheres were provided by the College of Pharmacy, Sichuan University. METHODS： A total of 36 adult female Sprague Dawley rats were used to establish models of completely transected spinal cord injury, at T10. Animals were randomly divided into three groups （n=12）： model, Nogo A antibody alone, and Nogo A antibody delayed-release microsphere groups. After transverse injury of the spinal cord, 50 μ L normal saline solution, 50 μL normal saline solution containing 50μL g Nogo A antibody, and 50 μL normal saline solution containing 50 μg Nogo A antibody microspheres were administered to the respective groups at the injury site. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： The expression of Nogo A and neurofilament 200 in injured spinal cord was tested immunohistochemically, and motor function of rats was assessed by Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan （BBB） locomotor rating scale. The title compound, 5 -N-i-propyl-2-（2＇ -nitrobenzenesulfonyl）-glutamine, was synthesized and its structure was confirmed by IB, MS, ^1H NMB, and elemental analysis. The single crystal structure of the title compound was determined by X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to Monoclinic, space group P2（ 1 ）, with a =0. 69281 （ 11 ） nm, b = 0. 76508（12）, c = 1. 5843（3） nm, α=90°, β =90. 941 （3）°, γ =90°, V=0. 8397（2） nm^3, Z =-2, Dc = 1.477 g/cm^3,μ =0. 236 mm^-1, F（000） =392, R =0. 0297, and wR=0.0664.

Artificial neural networks have been widely used to predict the mechanical properties of alloys in material research. This study aims to investigate the implicit relationship between the compositions and mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-Li-AI alloys. Based on the experimental collection of the tensile strength and the elongation of representative Mg-Li-AI alloys, a momentum back-propagation （BP） neural network with a single hidden layer was established. Particle swarm optimization （PSO） was applied to optimize the BP model. In the neural network, the input variables were the contents of Mg, Li and AI, and the output variables were the tensile strength and the elongation. The results show that the proposed PSO-BP model can describe the quantitative relationship between the Mg-Li-AI alloy＇s composition and its mechanical properties. It is possible that the mechanical properties to be predicted without experiment by inputting the alloy composition into the trained network model. The prediction of the influence of AI addition on the mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-Li-AI alloys is consistent with the related research results.

Background:Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a liver disorder characterized by the accumulation and degeneration of fat in the liver cells,a condition that may further deteriorate and lead to cirrhosis and liver *** studies showed that metabolic dysfunction can promote NAFLD *** Zhugan Decoction(LGZGD)has therapeutic effects on *** mechanism of LGZGD still remains *** study was to examine the impact of LGZGD on the metabolic processes involved in the development of ***:A mice model of NAFLD was treated with *** therapeutic potential of LGZGD was evaluated by assessing the activity of transaminases,lipids levels of blood,and pathological changes in the liver of the mice model of ***,this study also evaluated the influence of LGZGD on liver inflammation and oxidative ***:The results of untargeted metabolomics analysis showed that LGZGD reduced the disordered lipid metabolism in NAFLD *** improved the oxidative stress and also reduced the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the *** metabolomics analysis of liver samples revealed that LGZGD treatment improved metabolic disorders,including alanine,aspartate,glutamate,glycerophospholipid metabolism,and citrate *** RT-qPCR and Western blot results showed that LGZGD could regulate the expression of key enzymes in the metabolic pathway of the citrate cycle,including ATP-citrate lyase(ACLY),alanine-glyoxylate aminotransferase-2(AGXT2),phosphatidylethanolamine N-methyltransferase(PEMT),and succinate dehydrogenase(SDH).Conclusion:We found that LGZGD can treat NAFLD by reducing inflammatory responses,inhibiting oxidative stress,regulating alanine,aspartate,glutamate,and glycerophospholipid metabolism,and citrate cycle pathways.

The high-volume evacuation(HVE)is commonly employed as a primary source control measure for removing splatter emitted from mouth during dental treatments,but there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding of its *** on our previous experiments on the emission characteristics during dental treatments,this study employed computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations to investigate the impact of emission parameters(droplet size,emission velocity,emission angle),HVE usage methods(distance between HVE and the droplet release source),and HVE suction flow rates on its removal *** effect of HVE on fallow time(FT)was also *** removal efficiency that accurately reflected the HVE effect was proposed as an evaluation *** was found that emission velocity and distance between HVE and the source were key factors determining cumulative removal *** the distance was 4 cm,the cumulative removal efficiencies for low-velocity(0.8 m/s),medium-velocity(3.4 m/s),and high-velocity droplets(6.0 m/s)were approximately 97.9%,73.6%,and 58.0%,*** high-velocity droplets at 6.0 m/s,decreasing the distance from 4 cm to 2 cm and 1 cm increased the cumulative removal efficiency from 58.0%to 76.7%and 100%.This study was expected to enhance the understanding of HVE performance and provide information on its usage *** also indicated the need for developing advanced control measures that could have high efficiency in removing both low-velocity and high-velocity droplets.

Effect of arsenic content and quenching temperature on solidification microstructure and arsenic distribution in iron–arsenic alloys

The solidification microstructure, grain boundary segregation of soluble arsenic, and characteristics of arsenic-rich phases were systematically investigated in Fe-As alloys with different arsenic contents and quenching temperatures. The results show that the solidifica- tion microstructures of Fe-0.5wt%As alloys consist of irregular ferrite, while the solidification microstructures of Fe-4wt% As and Fe-10wt%As alloys present the typical dendritic morphology, which becomes finer with increasing arsenic content and quenching temperature. In Fe-0.5wt%As alloys quenched from 1600 and 1200℃, the grain boundary segregation of arsenic is detected by transmission electron microscopy. In Fe-4wt%As and Fe-10wt%As alloys quenched from 1600 and 1420℃, a fully divorced eutectic morphology is observed, and the eutectic Fe2As phase distributes discontinuously in the interdendritic regions. In contrast, the eutecfic morphology of Fe-10wt%As alloy quenched from 1200℃ is fibrous and forms a continuous network structure. Furthermore, the area fraction of the eutectic Fe2As phase in Fe-4wt%As and Fe-10wt%As alloys increases with increasing arsenic content and decreasing quenching temperature.

The shallow hydrogenic donor impurity states in square, V-shaped, and parabolic quantum wells are studied in the framework of effective-mass envelope-function theory using the plane wave basis. The first four impurity energy levels and binding energy of the ground state are more easily calculated than with the variation method. The calculation results indicate that impurity energy levels decrease with the increase of the well width and decrease quickly when the well width is small. The binding energy of the ground state increases until it reaches a maximum value, and then decreases as the well width increases. The results are meaningful and can be widely applied in the design of various optoelectronie devices.
