Reversible Protein Adsorption on PMOXA/PAA Based Coatings:Role of PAA

In this study we report design of stimuli-resP0nsive coating based on poly（2-methyl-2-oxazoline-random-glycidyl methacrylate）（PMOXA-r-GMA） comb copolymer and poly（acrylic acid）-block-poly（glycidyl methacrylate）（PAA-b-PGMA） block copolymers and scrutinize its ability to control protein adsorption. Firstly, PMOXA/PAA based coatings were prepared by simply spin coating the mixture of PMOXA-r-GMA and PAA-b-PGMA copolymer solutions onto silicon substrates followed by annealing at 110℃. Then coatings were rigorously characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, the static water contact angle （WCA） test, ellipsometry and atomic force microscopy （AFM）. After that, the relationship of switchable behavior of PMOXA/PAA based coatings with PAA content and chain length was investigated through the change of thickness and WCA upon pH and ionic strength （I） trigger, which indicated that the change in thickness and WCA was triggered when PAA contents were increased as well as by increasing chain length of PAA in PMOXA/PAA based coatings. Finally, real-time adsorption/desorption of lysozyme （Lyso） on PMOXA/PAA based coatings was monitored using quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring （QCM-D）. The results showed that the Lyso adsorption amount was increased upon increasing chain length and contents of PAA in PMOXA/PAA based coatings. The adsorbed Lyso was then efficiently desorbed by changing pH and I of medium with the maximum desorption （〉 90% desorption percentage） observed for the suitable ratio of PMOXA and PAA while chain length of PAA was kept longer than that of PMOXA. Furthermore, the prepared coatings were found to repeatedly adsorb and desorb Lyso for four successive cycles of adsorption/desorption, which confirmed the stability of prepared coatings.

Laparoscopic liver resection utilizing the ventral avascular area of the inferior vena cava:A retrospective cohort study

RE-SEGNN:recurrent semantic evidence-aware graph neural network for temporal knowledge graph forecasting

Temporal knowledge graph(TKG) reasoning, has seen widespread use for modeling real-world events, particularly in extrapolation settings. Nevertheless, most previous studies are embedded models, which require both entity and relation embedding to make predictions, ignoring the semantic correlations among different entities and relations within the same timestamp. This can lead to random and nonsensical predictions when unseen entities or relations occur. Furthermore, many existing models exhibit limitations in handling highly correlated historical facts with extensive temporal depth. They often either overlook such facts or overly accentuate the relationships between recurring past occurrences and their current counterparts. Due to the dynamic nature of TKG, effectively capturing the evolving semantics between different timestamps can be *** address these shortcomings, we propose the recurrent semantic evidenceaware graph neural network(RE-SEGNN), a novel graph neural network that can learn the semantics of entities and relations simultaneously. For the former challenge, our model can predict a possible answer to missing quadruples based on semantics when facing unseen entities or relations. For the latter problem, based on an obvious established force, both the recency and frequency of semantic history tend to confer a higher reference value for the current. We use the Hawkes process to compute the semantic trend, which allows the semantics of recent facts to gain more attention than those of distant facts. Experimental results show that RE-SEGNN outperforms all SOTA models in entity prediction on 6 widely used datasets, and 5 datasets in relation prediction. Furthermore, the case study shows how our model can deal with unseen entities and relations.

Recent progress of laser driven particle acceleration at Peking University

Recently, radiation pressure acceleration （RPA） has been proposed and extensively studied, which shows that circularly polarized （CP） laser pulses can accelerate mono-energetic ion bunches in a phase-stable-acceleration （PSA） way from ultrathin foils. It is found that self-orgizing proton beam can be stably accelerated to GeV in the interaction of a CP laser with a planar target at 1022 W/cm2. A project called Compact LAser Plasma proton Accelerator （CLAPA） is approved by MOST in China recently. A prototype of laser driven proton accelerator （1 to 15 MeV/1 Hz） based on the PSA mechanism and plasma lens is going to be built at Peking University in the next five years. It will be upgraded to 200 MeV later for applications such as cancer therapy, plasma imaging and fast ignitiou for inertial confine fusion.

Jet tagging with more-interaction particle transformer

In this paper,we introduce the More-Interaction Particle Transformer(MIParT),a novel deep-learning neural network designed for jet *** framework incorporates our own design,the More-Interaction Attention(MIA)mechanism,which increases the dimensionality of particle interaction *** tested MIParT using the top tagging and quark-gluon *** results show that MIParT not only matches the accuracy and AUC of LorentzNet and a series of Lorentz-equivariant methods,but also significantly outperforms the ParT model in background ***,it improves background rejection by approximately 25% with a signal efficiency of 30% on the top tagging dataset and by 3% on the quark-gluon ***,MIParT requires only 30% of the parameters and 53% of the computational complexity needed by ParT,proving that high performance can be achieved with reduced model *** very large datasets,we double the dimension of particle embeddings,referring to this variant as MIParT-Large(MIParT-L).We found that MIParT-L can further capitalize on the knowledge from large *** a model pre-trained on the 100M JetClass dataset,the background rejection performance of fine-tuned MIParT-L improves by 39% on the top tagging dataset and by 6% on the quark-gluon dataset,surpassing that of fine-tuned ***,the background rejection of fine-tuned MIParT-L improves by an additional 2% compared to that of fine-tuned *** results suggest that MIParT has the potential to increase the efficiency of benchmarks for jet tagging and event identification in particle physics.

Rainfall impacts on nonpoint nitrogen and phosphorus dynamics in an agricultural river in subtropical montane reservoir region of southeast China

The increased frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall events due to climate change could potentially influence the movement of nutrients from land-based regions into recipient ***,little information is available on how the rainfall affect nutrient dynamics in subtropicalmontane rivers with complex land *** study conducted high-frequency monitoring to study the effects of rainfall on nutrients dynamics in an agricultural river draining to Lake Qiandaohu,a montane reservoir of southeast *** results showed that riverine total nitrogen(TN)and total phosphorus(TP)concentrations increased continuously with increasing rainfall intensity,while TN:TP *** heavy rainfall and rainstorm drove more than 30%of the annual N and P loading in only 5.20%of the total rainfall period,indicating that increased storm runoff is likely to exacerbate eutrophication in montane ***_(3)^(−)-N is the primary nitrogen form lost,while particulate phosphorus(PP)dominated phosphorus *** source of N is cropland,and themain source of P is residential ***,forestedwatersheds have better drainage quality,while it is still a potential source of nonpoint pollution during rainfall *** and TP concentrations were significantly higher at sites dominated by cropland and residential area,indicating their substantial contributions to deteriorating river water ***,TN and TP concentrations reached high values in May-August when rainfall was most intense,while they were lower in autumn and winter than that in spring and summer under the same rainfall *** results emphasize the influence of rainfall-runoff and land use on dynamics of riverine N and P loads,providing guidance for nutrient load reduction planning for Lake Qiandaohu.

Alpine plants possess unique traits to adapt alpine *** leaf trait relationships of alpine plants can be captured by the two trait dimensions of organ size and resource economics is *** hypothesized that,beyond the trait dimensions of leaf size and resource economics,nonstructured carbohydrates(NSC)would reflect a dimension of cold-tolerance in alpine *** test this hypothesis,we measured 12 leaf traits critical to leaf construction and growth in 143 species across 7 sites ranging from alpine steppes to alpine meadows along an environmental gradient on the Tibetan ***,a cold resistance experiment was conducted at one of these sites to estimate the lethal temperature causing 50%frost damage(LT_(50))of 11 alpine *** majority of variations in 12 leaf traits of alpine plants were captured by three trait axes,in which leaf carbon(LCC)and NSC(including leaf starch;LSC and leaf soluble sugars;LSS)were clustered in a new dimension(PC3)beyond leaf size and structure,and resource *** LCC,LSC and LSS all showed negative correlations with mean annual temperature,a significant negative correlation was only found between LSS and LT_(50).It indicated that PC3 was able to reflect the cold-tolerance of alpine plants to some extent,in which LSS was the most critical *** storage and transformation of NSC under stressful conditions could reflect a dimension of long-term metabolic adaptation and cold-tolerance,which is an extension of the resource-utilization strategy beyond construction cost and growth.

Restricted Gr?bner Basis Theory for Normalization of Indexed Differential Riemann Metric Tensor Polynomials

Riemman metric tensor(Rmt) plays a significant role in deducing basic formulas and equations arising in differential geometry and(pseudo-) Riemannian manifolds. It is a fundamental and challenging problem to determine the equivalence of indexed differential Rmt polynomials. This paper solves the problem by extending Gr¨obner basis theory and the previous work on the computational theory for indexed differentials. L-expansion of an indexed differential Rmt polynomial is *** a decomposed form of the Gr¨obner basis of defining syzygies of the polynomial ring is presented,based on a partition of elementary indexed monomials. Meanwhile, the upper bound of the dummy index numbers of sim-monomials of the elements in each disjoint elementary indexed monomial subset is found. Finally, a DST-fundamental restricted ring is constructed, and the canonical form of a polynomial is confirmed to be the normal form with respect to the Gr¨obner basis in the DST-fundamental restricted ring.
