Effect of Sonic hedgehog gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells on graft-induced retinal gliosis and retinal ganglion cells survival in diabetic mice

AIM:To investigate the effects of Sonic hedgehog(Shh)gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)on graft-induced retinal gliosis and retinal ganglion cells(RGCs)survival in diabetic ***:Bone marrow-derived MSCs were genetically modified with the Shh gene to generate a stably transfected cell line of Shh-modified MSCs(MSC-Shh).Intravitreal injections of MSC-Shh and green fluorescent protein-modified MSCs(MSC-Gfp;control)were administered in diabetic *** 4wk,the effects of MSC-Shh on retinal gliosis were evaluated using fundus photography,and markers of gliosis were examined by immunofluorescence and Western *** neurotrophic factors expression and RGCs survival in the host retina were evaluated using Western blotting and *** mechanisms underlying the effects of MSC-Shh was ***:A significant reduction of proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR)was observed after intravitreal injection of MSC-Shh compared to *** downregulation of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)was demonstrated in the host retina after MSC-Shh administration compared to *** extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2(ERK1/2),protein kinase B(AKT)and phosphatidylin-ositol-3-kinase(PI3K)pathways were significantly downregulated after MSC-Shh administration compared to ***-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and ciliary neurotrophic factor(CNTF)levels were significantly increased in the host retina,and RGCs loss was significantly prevented after MSC-Shh ***:MSC-Shh administration reduces graft-induced reactive gliosis following intravitreal injection in diabetic *** ERK1/2,AKT and PI3K pathways are involved in this ***-Shh also increases the levels of neurotrophic factors in the host retina and promoted RGCs survival in diabetic mice.

The Toughening Behavior of the PP/POE Alternating Multilayered Blends under EWF and Impact Tensile Methods

The multilayered polypropylene （PP） and poly（ethylene-co-octene）（POE） sheets were prepared by the microlayered co-extrusion system. The essential work of fracture （EWF） and the impact tensile methods have been successfully used to evaluate the toughening behaviors of the PP/POE multilayered blends under quasi-static and dynamic uniaxial tensile stress, respectively. The experimental results indicate that the multilayered structure plays a key role in the toughening behaviors. On increasing the layer number of the multilayered blends, the specific essential work of fracture, we, increases obviously. As for the flwp, there is no obvious variation in the multilayered blends with low POE content （6.79%）, however, obvious enhancement is observed with increasing the layer number of the high POE content multilayered blends （16.57%）. Compared with the conventional blends, the multilayered blends with 6.79% POE content are effective to increase the value of we. Additionally, the multilayered blends with high layer numbers present absolute advantage in improving the impact tensile values.

Multiple-Morphs Adaptive Stream Architecture

In modern VLSI technology, hundreds of thousands of arithmetic units fit on a 1cm^2 chip. The challenge is supplying them with instructions and data. Stream architecture is able to solve the problem well. However, the applications suited for typical stream architecture are limited. This paper presents the definition of regular stream and irregular stream, and then describes MASA （Multiple-morphs Adaptive Stream Architecture） prototype system which supports different execution models according to applications＇ stream characteristics. This paper first discusses MASA architecture and stream model, and then explores the features and advantages of MASA through mapping stream applications to hardware. Finally MASA is evaluated by ten benchmarks. The result is encouraging.

Trans-arterial gene therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma in a rabbit model

AIM： To study the effect of adenovirus （Ad）-p53 gene therapy on hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） in a rabbit model.METHODS： VX2 tumor was grown in the liver of 24rabbits. Animals were divided into four groups： group A receiving trans-arterial gene therapy （Ad-p53） only,group B receiving combined Ad-p53 therapy and transarterial embolization （lipiodol）, group C receiving transarterial chemoembolization （lipiodol ＋ mitomycin C）,control group （D） receiving sodium chloride. Tumor volume （V1） was measured by using MRI （d 13）.Interventional procedure was applied （d 14）.Tumor volume （V2） was assessed by MRT （d 21） and the mean ratio （V2/V1） was calculated. After the second MRI,specimens of the liver were abstained and examined immunohistochemically using mutant-type p53 *** positive expression was scored.RESULTS： Compared with control group （（^-x） = 3.14± 0.64）, therapeutic groups all showed a significant decrease in the tumor growth ratio （P 〈 0.05）. A slight difference was found between group A （（^-x） =2.35 ±0.59） and group B （（^-x） = 1.75 ± 0.28）（P = 0.048）. Nostatistically significant difference was observed between group B and group C （（^-x） = 2.00 ± 0.44）. The positive expression rate of mutant-type p53 was the lowest in group B and significantly different between group A and group C （P 〈 0.05）.Compared to the control subjects, groups A and C both showed a decrease in the expression of mutant-type p53, but there was no significant difference between them.CONCLUSION： Trans-arterial Ad-p53 gene therapy can reduce tumor growth of HCC in rabbit model.

The water-living reptile genus Hyphalosaurus was previously discovered in the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation bearing the middle Jehol Biota in western liaoning,*** complete skeletons of Hyphalosaurus are reported for the first time from the Jiufotang Formation bearing the late Jehol Biota at two sites in western *** show the typical characteristics of Hyphalosaurus baitaigouensis in terms of the contact between some cranial bones and the number of cervical and dorsal vertebrae,and therefore are assigned to *** discovery extends the stratigraphic range of this species from the Yixian Formation to the overlying Jiufotang *** paper further briefly compares the main characteristics of the two skeletons,summarizes the temporal and spatial distribution of Hyphalosaurus,and discusses the palaeogeographic evolution of western liaoning at the middle and late Jehol Biota stages based on the aquatic habits of Hyphalosaurus and the geological background of western *** analytical results show that the volcanic downwarped lakes,with distinct geographical divisions in western liaoning during the deposition of the Yixian Formation,had not completely disappeared till the deposition of the Jiufotang *** palaeo-lake in the Fuxin-Yixian Basin underwent the process of generation,expansion and shrinkage during the depositional period of the Yixian Formation and finally merged into a large *** palaeo-Dalinghe River,which connected the main basins in western liaoning during the depositional period of the Jiufotang Formation,was formed simultaneously.

Surface modification of graphite anode with electroactive matters has been proven of a more practical strategy in enhancing the performance of li-ion batteries than exploring alternative novel anode ***,rutile TiNbO_(4-x) nanoparticles with a tunnel structure are employed as multifunctional decoration substances in combination with a carbon coating layer to improve the rate and cycle properties of mesocarbon microbeads(MCMBs).As compared to pristine MCMB,the li^(+)diffusion coefficients of the composite anodes are enhanced due to the synergistic effect of TiNbO_(4-x)@***,the overcharge and voltage polarization of the composite anodes at high rate are obviously minimized due to the current sharing effect of the high-potential TiNbO_(4-x).Moreover,the amorphous li_(y)TiNbO_(4-x) converted from TiNbO_(4-x) in the initial lithiation process can deliver pseudocapacitive capacity to the composite anodes from the second *** of these functions of TiNbO_(4-x)@Ccoating layer have directly contributed to the improved rate and cycle performance of the MCMB/TiNbO_(4-x)@C composite *** one containing 12.0 wt%TiNbO_(4-x) exhibits a high reversible specific capacity of 118 m Ah·g^(-1)at 10C(1C=372 m A·g^(-1)),together with a high capacity retention of 90.9%after 300 cycles at 3C,which are all much superior to those of pristine MCMB.

Precise immobilization of metal single atoms into a porphyrinic metal-organic framework for an efficient alkene hydrosilylation

Alkene hydrosilylation is one of the most concise and atom-economical methods to synthesize organosilicon ***,we reported the precise immobilization of metal single atoms(M-SAs;M=Ru,Rh,Ir,Pd,Pt,and Au)into a porphyrinic metalorganic framework(MOF)of PCN-222(PCN=porous coordination network),and then applied the resultant MOF composites of M-SAs@PCN-222 to alkene *** solvent-free conditions,Pt-SAs@PCN-222 displayed an especially high catalytic efficiency with the turnover frequency up to 119 s−1 and the maximum turnover number of 906,250 at room *** and theoretical studies revealed that there existed strong interactions between Pt-SAs@PCN-222 and the substrates,which helped to condense the substrates in the cavities of the porous *** density functional theory calculations and molecular dynamics simulations disclosed that PCN-222 could transfer electrons to Pt-SAs to enhance the silane oxidative addition and drive the reaction to proceed smoothly via Chalk–Harrod pathway.

Based on the unified Hauser–Feshbach and exciton model,which can describe the particle emission processes between discrete energy levels with energy,angular momentum,and parity conservations,a statistical theory of light nucleus reaction(STLN)is developed to calculate the double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing neutron and light charged particles for the proton-induced^(6) li reaction.A significant difference is observed between the p+^(6) li and p+^(7) li reactions owing to the discrepancies in the energy-level structures of the *** reaction channels,including sequential and simultaneous emission processes,are analyzed in *** the double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing proton as an example,the influence of contaminations(such as^(1) H,^(7)li,^(12)C,and^(16)O)on the target is identified in terms of the kinetic energy of the first emitted *** optical potential parameters of the proton are obtained by fitting the elastic scattering differential *** calculated total double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing proton and deuteron at E_(p)=14 MeV agree well with the experimental data for different outgoing ***,the mixed double differential cross-sections of^(3) He andαare in good agreement with the *** agreement between the measured data and calculated results indicates that the two-body and three-body breakup reactions need to be considered,and the pre-equilibrium reaction mechanism dominates the reaction *** on the STLN model,a PLUNF code for the p+^(6) li reaction is developed to obtain an ENDF-6-formatted file of the double-differential cross-sections of the nucleon and light composite charged particles.

Design optimization of a hexapod vibration isolation system for electro-optical payload

The electro-optical payloads on mobile platforms generally suffer undesirable vibrations generated by maneuvers and *** vibrations are in six degrees of freedom and cause line-of-sight jitters,resulting in image blurring and loss of tracking *** this paper,a Hexapod Vibration Isolation System(HVIS)is proposed and optimized to solve this *** optimization aims to centralize and minimize the natural frequencies of HVIS,for expanding the vibration isolation bandwidth and improving the vibration isolation in the higher frequency *** that the design space for HVIS is limited and interfered with the frames of the mobile platform,a non-collision algorithm is proposed and applied in the optimization to obtain the feasible optimal *** optimization result shows that the natural frequency bandwidth has been reduced by 42.9%,and the maximum natural frequency is reduced by 30.2%.The prototypes of initial and optimal designs are manufactured and *** simulated and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the optimization,and the optimal design provides a maximum of 15 dB more isolation in rotation direction than the initial design.
