Characteristics of proppant transport and placement within rough hydraulic fractures

A three-dimensional reconstruction of rough fracture surfaces of hydraulically fractured rock outcrops is carried out by casting process,a large-scale experimental setup for visualizing rough fractures is built to perform proppant transport *** typical characteristics of proppant transport and placement in rough fractures and its intrinsic mechanisms are investigated,and the influences of fracture inclination,fracture width and fracturing fluid viscosity on proppant transport and placement in rough fractures are *** results show that the rough fractures cause variations in the shape of the flow channel and the fluid flow pattern,resulting in the bridging buildup during proppant transport to form unfilled zone,the emergence of multiple complex flow patterns such as channeling,reverse flow and bypassing of sand-carrying fluid,and the influence on the stability of the sand *** proppant has a higher placement rate in inclined rough fractures,with a maximum increase of 22.16 percentage points in the experiments compared to vertical fractures,but exhibits poor stability of the sand *** fracture width aggravates the bridging of proppant and induces higher pumping *** the viscosity of the fracturing fluid can weaken the proppant bridging phenomenon caused by the rough fractures.

Lightweight,Strong and High Heat-resistant Poly(lactide acid)Foams via Microcellular Injection Molding with Self-Assembly Nucleating Agent

Poly(lactide acid)(PLA)foams have shown considerable promise as eco-friendly alternatives to nondegradable plastic foams,such as polystyrene(PS)***,PLA foam typically suffers from low heat-resistance and poor cellular structure stemming from its inherent slow crystallization rate and low melt *** this study,a high-perfor.ance PLA foam with well-defined cell morphology,exceptional strength and enhanced heat-resistance was successfully fabricated via a core-back microcellular injection molding(MIM)*** scanning calorimetry(DSC)results revealed that the added hydrazine-based nucleating agent(HNA)significantly increased the crystallization temperature and accelerated the crystallization process of ***,the addition of a 1.5 wt%of HNA led to a significant reduction in PLA’s cell size,from 43.5µm to 2.87µm,and a remarkable increase in cell density,from 1.08×10^(7)cells/cm^(3)to 2.15×10^(10)cells/cm^(3).This enhancement resulted in a final crystallinity of approximately 55.7%for the PLA blend foam,a marked improvement compared to the pure PLA ***,at 1.5 wt%HNA concentration,the tensile strength and tensile toughness of PLA blend foams demonstrated remarkable improvements of 136%and 463%,***,the Vicat softening temperature of PLA blend foam increased significantly to 134.8°C,whereas the pure PLA foam exhibited only about 59.7℃.These findings underscore the potential for the preparation of lightweight injection-molded PLA foam with enhanced toughness and heat-resistance,which offers a viable approach for the production of high-perfor.ance PLA foams suitable for large-scale applications.

Effect of V on high-temperature mechanical properties of Al-5Cu-1.5Ni alloy

The effects of V on microstructure,room temperature,and high-temperature(350℃)mechanical properties of Al-5Cu-1.5Ni alloy were *** results show that Al-5Cu-1.5Ni-xV alloys mainly compriseα-Al,Al_(2)Cu,Al_(3)(Ni,Cu)_(2),Al_(3)Ni,Al7Cu4Ni,and Al_(10)V *** addition of V can signally refineα-Al dendritic structure,which improves the mechanical properties of the as-cast alloys at room and high *** T6 heat treatment(540℃/12 h/WC+170℃/8 h/AC),α-Al,network skeleton structure Al_(3)(Ni,Cu)_(2),and Al_(10)V phases all show coarsening,while the fine nano-θ'-Al_(2)Cu precipitated from the matrix and dispersed *** introduction of V promotes the quantity of precipitatedθ'-Al_(2)Cu *** ultimate tensile strength of the heat-treated alloys at room and high temperatures is greatly improved compared to that of the as-cast *** highest high-temperature ultimate tensile strength of the alloys with V is 111.8 MPa,21.5%higher than that of the base *** analysis shows that the improvement of high-temperature mechanical properties after heat treatment is mainly due to the introduction of V,increasing the precipitated quantity of nano-θ'-Al_(2)Cu particles and improving its thermal *** dispersion strengthening effect ofθ'-Al_(2)Cu particles exceeds the weakening effect of other adverse microstructures on the mechanical properties.

Accelerating Asteroidal Period and Pole Inversion from Multiple Lightcurves Using Parallel Differential Evolution and Cellinoid Shape Model

Determining asteroid properties provides valuable physical insights but inverting them from photometric lightcurves remains computationally *** paper presents a new approach that combines a simplified Cellinoid shape model with the Parallel Differential Evolution(PDE)algorithm to accelerate *** PDE algorithm is more efficient than the Differential Evolution algorithm,achieving an extraordinary speedup of 37.983 with 64 workers on multicore *** PDE algorithm accurately derives period and pole values from simulated *** analysis of real asteroid lightcurves validates the method’s reliability:in comparison with results published elsewhere,the PDE algorithm accurately recovers the rotational periods and,given adequate viewing geometries,closely matches the pole *** PDE approach converges to solutions within 20,000 iterations and under one hour,demonstrating its potential for large-scale data *** work provides a promising new tool for unveiling asteroid physical properties by overcoming key computational bottlenecks.

The urgent demand of extreme(ultra-high/low)thermal conductivity materials is triggered by the high-power device,where exploring the theories and mechanisms of regulating thermal transport properties plays a key ***,we elaborately investigate the effect of vertical(out-of-plane)piezoelectric characteristics on thermal transport,which is historically *** different stacking-order(AA and AB)bilayer boron nitride(Bi-BN)in two-dimensional(2D)materials are selected as study *** performing state-of-the-art first-principles calculations,it is found that the polarization charge along the out-of-plane orientation ascends significantly with the increasing piezoelectric response in AB stacked Bi-BN(Bi-BN-AB)followed by the enhanced interlayer B–N atomic ***,the amplitude of phonon anharmonicity in Bi-BN-AB increases larger than that in the AA stacked Bi-BN(Bi-BN-AA),resulting in the dramatic weakening of the thermal conductivity by 20.34%under 18%*** research reveals the significant role of the vertical(out-of-plane)piezoelectric characteristic in regulating thermal transport and provides new insight into accurately exploring the thermal transport perfor.ance of 2D van der Waals materials.

Uncontrolled growth of lithium dendrite will lead to low Coulombic efficiency and poor cycle stability,which hinders the commercialization of lithium metal ***,a novel modified lithium anode with reduced graphene oxide conductive network containing trace lithiophilic phosphorus(P-rGO/Cu)is prepared by electrospraying technique combined with heat treatment *** rGO layer has a concave and undulating conductive structure,which can significantly improve the effective electrical contact between lithium metal and the current collector,speed up the kinetics of interfacial electron transport and reaction,and improve the resistance of the negative electrode to the internal stress caused by volume change of the lithium,which is advantageous for the stability of the SEI *** extremely small and uniformly distributed red phosphorus element avoids the volume change caused by lithiation to the maximum *** two-phase compound Li_(3)P obtained by alloying P with Li can directionally induce the homogeneous nucleation and dense deposition of lithium metal,address the issue of lithium dendrites and extend the cycle life of the *** obtained P-rGO/Cu exhibits excellent electrochemical perfor.ance with an average Coulombic efficiency(CE)of 98%at a current density of 1 mA·cm^(−2) for 400 cycles,and the capacity retention rate of the full cell matched with lithium iron phosphate(LFP)is 83%after 400 cycles at 1C.

Mesenteric adipose tissue B lymphocytes promote intestinal injury in severe acute pancreatitis by mediating enteric pyroptosis
