Mononuclear cells from the cord blood and granulocytecolony stimulating factor-mobilized peripheral blood:is there a potential for treatment of cerebral palsy?

To investigate a possible therapeutic mechanism of cell therapy in the field of cerebral palsy using granulocyte-colony stimulating factor（G-CSF）-mobilized peripheral blood mononuclear cells（m PBMCs）,we compared the expression of inflammatory cytokines and neurotrophic factors in PBMCs and m PBMCs from children with cerebral palsy to those from healthy adult donors and to cord blood mononuclear cells donated from healthy *** significant differences in expression of neurotrophic factors were found between PBMCs and m ***,in cerebral palsy children,the expression of interleukin-6 was significantly increased in m PBMCs as compared to PBMCs,and the expression of interleukin-3 was significantly decreased in m PBMCs as compared to *** healthy adults,the expression levels of both interleukin-1βand interleukin-6 were significantly increased in m PBMCs as compared to *** expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factors in m PBMC from cerebral palsy children was significantly higher than that in the cord blood or m PBMCs from healthy *** expression of G-CSF in m PBMCs from cerebral palsy children was comparable to that in the cord blood but significantly higher than that in m PBMCs from healthy *** expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines（interleukin-1β,interleukin-3,and-6）and higher expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines（interleukin-8 and interleukin-9）were observed from the cord blood and m PBMCs from cerebral palsy children rather than from healthy *** findings indicate that m PBMCs from cerebral palsy and cord blood mononuclear cells from healthy newborns have the potential to become seed cells for treatment of cerebral palsy.

A comparative study of interface reconstruction algorithms in molten metal flow

Distinctive clinical features of spontaneous pneumoperitoneum in neonates: A retrospective analysis

BACKGROUND Spontaneous pneumoperitoneum(SP) without gastrointestinal perforation rarely occurs in neonates, with most SP cases being idiopathic. Although SP usually follows a benign clinical course with favorable prognosis, it can become lifethreatening in certain situations. In these cases, urgent surgical intervention may be required. Therefore, it may be difficult to decide when or how to perform prompt *** To demonstrate the distinct clinical features of SP to guide appropriate management by comparing characteristics between SP and typical pneumoperitoneum secondary to gastrointestinal *** We retrospectively reviewed electronic medical records and identified 37 neonates with radiological evidence of pneumoperitoneum who were treated at our institution. Clinical variables were compared between neonates with SP without gastrointestinal perforation(Group A) and those with pneumoperitoneum secondary to gastrointestinal perforation(Group B). Clinical variables between groups were compared using Student’s t-test and the chi-square test. The risk factors related to mortality were examined using multi-logistic regression *** Group A comprised 35.1%(13/37) of the patients. The frequency of persistent pulmonary hypertension(53.8%) and pneumothorax(46.2%) before the development of pneumoperitoneum was significantly higher in group A than in group B(P =0.004). Platelet count and partial pressure of arterial oxygen(PaO) were significantly lower in group A(P = 0.015 and 0.025, respectively). Overall mortality was significantly higher in group A than in group B(76.9% vs 16.7%, P = 0.001). Only preterm infants were significantly associated with high mortality(P = 0.041;odds ratio = 18.0). The development of sulfur cathodes with high areal capacity and high energy density is crucial for the practical application of lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs).LSBs can be built by employing(ultra)high-loading sulfur cathodes,which have rarely been realized due to massive passivation and ***,microspheres of a carbon-carbon nitride composite(C@CN)with large mesopores are fabricated via molecular cooperative *** the C@CN-based electrodes,the effects of the large mesopores and N-functional groups on the electrochemical behavior of sulfur in LSB cells are thoroughly investigated under ultrahigh sulfur-loading conditions(>15 mgS cm^(-2)).Furthermore,for high-energy-density LSBs,the C@CN powders are pelletized into a thick free-standing electrode(thickness:500^m;diameter:11 mm)via a simple briquette process;here,the total amount of energy stored by the LSB cells is 39 mWh,corresponding to a volumetric energy density of 440 Wh L-1 with an areal capacity of 24.9 and 17.5 mAh cm^(-2) at 0.47 and 4.7 mA cm^(-2),respectively(at 24mgS cm^(-2)).These results have significantly surpassed most recent records due to the synergy among the large mesopores,(poly)sulfide-philic surfaces,and thick *** developed strategy with its potential for scale-up successfully fills the gap between laboratory-scale cells and practical cells without sacrificing the high areal capacity and high energy density,providing a solid foundation for the development of practical LSBs.

Effect of Deformation Temperature on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AZ31 Mg Alloy Processed by Differential-Speed Rolling

A differential-speed rolling(DSR) was applied to AZ31 magnesium alloy sample at different rolling temperatures of 473,523,573,and 623 K with 1-pass and 2-pass *** microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of the deformed samples were *** rolling temperature was found to be an important parameter affecting the microstructural *** DSR at 473 K,the microstructure was more homogeneous than that obtained after deformation by equal-speed rolling(ESR).The fully recrystallized microstructures were generated after DSR at 573 and 623 *** to mechanical properties,the yield strength(YS) and ultimate tensile strength(UTS) decreased monotonously with increasing rolling *** contrast,the elongation of the DSR-deformed samples was improved as the rolling temperature *** strain hardening exponent(n) calculated by Hollomon equation increased with increasing the rolling temperature,which would explain an increase in the uniform elongation.

The unique interactions between hexadecanoic acid(HA)and albumin(ALB)molecules on the surface of the porous layer of AZ31 Mg alloy were exploited to fabricate a novel hybrid composite film with excellent electrochemical stability in a 3.5 wt.%Na Cl ***,the inorganic layer(IL)obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation of AZ31 Mg alloy in an alkaline-phosphate-WO_(3)electrolyte was soaked in an organic solution composed of ALB and HA for 10 and 24 h at 60℃.Although albumin and HA may coexist on the same surface of IL,the higher reactivity of ALB molecules would prevent the formation of a thick layer of *** donor-acceptor complexes formed due to the unique interactions between ALB and/or HA and IL surface would reduce the area exposed to the corrosive species which in turn would efficiently protect the substrate from *** porous structure of the IL would provide preferable sites for the physical and chemical locking triggered by charge-transfer phenomena,leading to the inhomogeneous nucleation and crystal growth of a flowery flakes-like organic *** calculations were performed to reveal the primary bonding modes between the ALB,HA,and IL and to assess the mechanistic insights into the formation of such novel hybrid composites.
