Recent advances in functionally graded additive manufacturing(FGAM)technology have enabled the seamless hybridization of multiple functionalities in a single *** robotics can become one of the largest beneficiaries of these advances,through the design of a facile four-dimensional(4D)FGAM process that can grant an intelligent stimuli-responsive mechanical functionality to the printed ***,we present a simple binder jetting approach for the 4D printing of functionally graded porous multi-materials(FGMM)by introducing rationally designed graded multiphase feeder *** graded cross-linking agents gradually form stable porous network structures within aqueous polymer particles,enabling programmable hygroscopic deformation without complex mechanical ***,a systematic bed design incorporating additional functional agents enables a multi-stimuli-responsive and untethered soft robot with stark stimulus *** biodegradability of the proposed 4D-printed soft robot further ensures the sustainability of our approach,with immediate degradation rates of 96.6%within 72 *** proposed 4D printing concept for FGMMs can create new opportunities for intelligent and sustainable additive manufacturing in soft robotics.

However, little is known about whether avian brood parasites that do not incubate their eggs exhibit brood patch development during the breeding season. In this study, we measured the size of the ventral apterium in 114 Common Cuckoos(Cuculus canorus) captured in the field throughout the breeding season and examined the appearance of the ventral apterium to confirm the development of brood patches. We also examined whether morphological traits and various factors correlated with the size of the ventral apterium(sternal apterium and abdominal apterium) and how it changed during the breeding season. Core YSDP103 was retrieved in the muddy deposit under the cold eddy of the southeastern South Yellow Sea, and the uppermost 29.79 m core represents the muddy sediments formed in the shelf since about 13 ka BP. The lower part from 29.79 to 13.35 m, called Unit A2, was deposited during the period from the post-glacial transgression to the middle Holocene (at about 6 14C ka BP) when the rising sea level reached its maximum, while the upper part above 13.35 m (called Unit A1) was deposited in a cold eddy associated with the formation of the Yellow Sea Warm Current just after the peak of post-glacial sea level rise. Rock-magnetic properties of the uppermost 29.79 m core were investigated in detail. The experimental results indicate that the magnetic mineralogy of the core is dominated by magnetite, maghemite and hematite and that, except for the uppermost 2.35 m, the magnetic minerals were subject to reductive diagenesis leading to significant decline of magnetic mineral content and the proportion of low-coercivity component. More importantly, ferrimagnetic iron sulphide (greigite) is found in Unit A2 but absent in Unit A1, suggesting the control of marine environmental conditions on the magnetic mineral diagenesis. Magnetic parameters show abrupt changes across the boundary between Units A1and A2, which reflects a co-effect of environmental conditions and primary magnetic components of the sediments on the diagenesis. Alternating zones of high and low magnetic parameters are observed in Unit A2, which is presumably due to periodic changes of the concentration and/or grain size of magnetic minerals carried into the study area.

Multiscale Simulation Starting at the Molecular Level for Adsorption Process Development

This article presents a multiscale simulation approach starting at the molecular level for the adsorption process development. A grand canonical Monte Carlo method is used for the prediction of adsorption isotherms of methanol on an activated carbon at the molecular level. The adsorption isotherms obtained in the linear region （or adsorption constant） are exploited as a model parameter required for the adsorption process simulation. The adsorption process model described by a set of partial differential equations （PDEs） is solved by using the conservation element and solution element method, which produces a fast and an accurate numerical solution to PDEs. The simulation results obtained from the adsorption constant estimated at the molecular level are in good agreement with the experimental results of the pulse response. The systematical multiscale simulation approach addressed in this study may be useful to accelerate the adsorption process development by reducing the number of experiments.

Effects of PWHT on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Weld Metals of Ni-Based Superalloy 617 and 263 for Hyper-Supercritical Power Plants

It is well known that solid solution-strengthened alloy 617 and γ′ precipitation-strengthened alloy 263 have excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance at high temperatures. Hyper-supercritical power plants work at temperatures above 700 ℃, and these superalloys are considered candidate materials for steam turbines components of these power plants. In this study, gas tungsten arc weldability of these superalloys was evaluated, and the effects of post- weld heat treatment （PWHT） on the microstructural characteristics and the mechanical properties of their weld metals were investigated. Scanning transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and electron probe microanalysis were utilized for the investigation. The experimental results confirmed that these weld metals had different characteristics in microstructure and mechanical properties. PWHT resulted in the precipitation of intergranular carbides, γ′ particles and an increase in tensile strength of these superalloy weld metals. Furthermore, fine γ′ particles, which were not detected in the as-welded metal of alloy 263, were precipitated after PWHT and those particles were the reason for the drastic increase in tensile strength.

Generalist avian brood parasites vary considerably in their degree of host specialization(e.g.,number of hosts);some parasitize the nests of just a few host species,whereas others exploit more than 100 *** factors,including habitat range,habitat type,and geographic location,have been suggested to account for these ***,inter-specific differences in individual attributes,such as personality and plasticity,have rarely been considered as potential factors of such variation,despite their potential relationship to,for example,range *** cage experiments,we tested the hypothesis that parasitic species exploiting more host species may be more active and *** this end,we quantified behaviors exhibited by two Cuculus cuckoos(Common Cuckoo *** and Oriental Cuckoo ***)that vary greatly in their number of host ***,we evaluated exploratory behavior displayed by birds in the cage,such as the number of movements,head-turning,wing-flapping,and *** Common Cuckoo,which has a higher number of host species,tended to exhibit higher levels of exploratory behaviors than the Oriental *** study showed that the two cuckoo species exhibited different exploratory levels,as predicted by the differences in their number of *** studies regarding the causality between individual attributes and host specialization with improved experimental methodology would greatly enhance our understanding of the role of individual characteristics in the coevolution of avian brood parasites and their hosts.

LaNi（0.6）Fe（0.4）O（3-δ）（LNF） powders were synthesized by the glycine-nitrate process and LNF-gadolinium-doped ceria （GDC） nanocomposite cathodes for solid oxide fuel cells （SOFCs） were fabricated by infiltration from LNF porous backbones. Electrochemical properties and Cr-poisoning behavior of LNF-GDC cathodes were studied. Single phase perovskite LNF could be obtained at the glycine to nitrate molar ratio of 1：1. The polarization resistance of the LNF-GDC nanocomposite cathode was significantly decreased in comparison with the LNF. This phenomenon was associated with enhanced catalytic activity and enlarged triple-phase boundary （TPB） length by GDC nano particles. In addition, the nanocomposite cathode showed good Cr tolerance under open circuit condition. The LNF-GDC nanocomposite cathodes were expected for use as a potential cathode in intermediate- temperature solid oxide fuel cells （IT-SOFC）.

Label-free Detection for a DNA Methylation Assay Using Raman Spectroscopy

Background： DNA methylation has been suggested as a biomarker for early cancer detection and treatment. Varieties of technologies for detecting DNA methylation have been developed, but they are not sufficiently sensitive for use in diagnostic devices. The aim of this study was to determine the suitability of Raman spectroscopy for label-free detection of methylated DNA. Methods： The methylated promoter regions of cancer-related genes cadherin 1 （CDH1） and retinoic acid receptor beta （RARB） served as target DNA sequences. Based on bisulfite conversion, oligonucleotides ofmethylated or nonmethylated probes and targets were synthesized for the DNA methylation assay. Principal component analysis with linear discriminant analysis （PCA-DA） was used to discriminate the hybridization between probes and targets （methylated probe and methylated target or nonmethylated probe and nonmethylated target） of CDH! and RARB from nonhybridization between the probe and targets （methylated probe and nonmethylated target or nonmethylated probe and methylated target）. Results： This study revealed that the CDH1 and RARB oligo sets and their hybridization data could be classified using PCA-DA. The classification results for CDH1 methylated probe ＋ CDH1 methylated target versus CDH! methylated probe ＋ CDHI unmethylated target showed sensitivity, specificity, and error rates of 92%, 100%, and 8%, respectively. The classification results for the RARB methylated probe ＋ RARB methylated target versus RARB methylated probe ＋ RARB unmethylated target showed sensitivity, specificity, and error rates of 92%, 93%, and 11%, respectively. Conclusions： Label-free detection ofDNA methylation could be achieved using Raman spectroscopy with discriminant analysis.
