In this research,motion and deformation of a red blood cell(RBC)in a microchannel with stenosis is investigated by combined Lattice Boltzmann-Immersed Boundary *** fluid flow occurs due to the pressure difference between the inlet and the outlet of the *** immersed boundary algorithm guaranteed that there is no relative velocity between the RBC and ***,mass transfer along the immersed border does not *** can be seen that the healthy RBC has more deformation and passes the stenosis easier while the sick one passes the stenosis with less deformation and returns to its initial state *** the pressure gradient(i.e.,increasing Reynolds number)would cause more deformation of the *** is found that a healthy RBC moves faster than a sick one along the *** pressure increases due to the presence of stenosis and low deformable *** is the reason of many serious diseases including cardiovascular *** results of this paper were compared to the previous valid results and good agreements were observed.

This paper aims to study the oscillation of a sparkgenerated submerged bubble located near or inside a circular aperture made in a flat plate using high-speed visualization technique. In the case of a bubble oscillating near an aperture the initial free surface of the water was set at the bottom surface of the plate. The effects of aperture size and bubblefree surface distance on the bubble behavior as well as on the ensuing droplet dynamics are investigated. It was found that the direction of the bubble reentrant jet was towards the aperture or away from it respectively when the normalized aperture size was smaller or greater than a certain critical value. In addition, a toroidal vortex ring was observed to form, which rotated inwards as it moved away from the aperture. It was also found that if the bubble was incepted at a distance sufficiently away from a supercritical size aperture a single droplet could be produced. In the case of a bub- ble initiated in the middle of a circular aperture submerged just beneath the water free surface, the bubble was found to take the shape of an ellipsoid during its expansion. Then a reentrant jet was initiated and pierced the bubble from its top side.

Magnesium alloys remain critical in the context of light-weighting and advanced devices. The increased utilisation of magnesium(Mg)each year reveals growing demand for its Mg-based alloys. Additive manufacturing(AM) provides the possibility to directly manufacture components in net-shape, providing new possibilities and applications for the use of Mg-alloys, and new prospects in the utilisation of novel physical structures made possible from ‘3D printing’. The review herein seeks to holistically explore the additive manufacturing of Mg-alloys to date, including a synopsis of processes used and properties measured(with a comparison to conventionally prepared Mg-alloys). The challenges and possibilities of AM Mg-alloys are critically elaborated for the field of mechanical metallurgy.

Effects of laser pulse distance and reinforcing of 5456 aluminum alloy were investigated on laser weldability of Al alloy to duplex stainless steel (DSS) plates. The aluminum alloy plate was reinforced by nickel-base BNi-2 brazing powder via friction stir processing. The DSS plates were laser welded to the Al5456/BNi-2 composite and also to the Al5456 alloy plates. The welding zones were studied by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, micro-hardness and shear tests. The weld interface layer became thinner from 23 to 5 μm, as the laser pulse distance was increased from 0.2 to 0.5 mm. Reinforcing of the Al alloy modified the phases at interface layer from Al-Fe intermetallic compounds (IMCs) in the DSS/Al alloy weld, to Al-Ni-Fe IMCs in the DSS/Al composite one, since more nickel was injected in the weld pool by BNi-2 reinforcements. This led to a remarkable reduction in crack tendency of the welds and decreased the hardness of the interface layer from ~950 HV to ~600 HV. Shear strengths of the DSS/Al composite welds were significantly increased by ~150%, from 46 to 114 MPa, in comparison to the DSS/Al alloy ones.

Objective： To investigate the effectiveness of curcumin, a natural polyphenolic compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, on the frequency of symptoms of anxiety and depression in obese individuals. Methods： In this double blind, cross-over trial, 30 obese subjects were randomized to receive either curcumin （1 g/day） or placebo for a period of 30 days. Following a wash-out interval of 2 weeks, each subject was crossed over to the alternative regimen for a further 30 days. Severity of anxiety and depression was assessed at baseline and at weeks 4, 6 and 10 of the trial using the Beck Anxiety Inventory （BAI） and Beck Depression Inventory （BDI） scales, respectively. Results： Mean BAI score was found to be significantly reduced following curcumin therapy （P=0.03）. However, curcumin supplementation did not exert any significant impact on BDI scores （P=0.7）. Conclusion： Curcumin has a potential anti-anxiety effect in individuals with obesity.
