Background:Cyclosporine A and tacrolimus(TAC)are often used as a second-line treatment for children with refractory nephrotic syndrome(NS).This study was undertaken to investigate the efficacy and safety of Tacrobell®,a locally produced generic form of ***:This study was a one-year prospective,open-label,single-arm,multicenter ***-four children with steroid-dependent NS(SDNS)and 33 children with steroid-resistant NS(SRNS)were *** primary endpoints were defined as the remission rates,whereas the secondary endpoints were recognized as the duration of remission and adverse effects of ***:After one-year treatment,34(77.3%)of the 44 patients with SDNS were in complete remission,and 6(13.6%)were in partial ***(43.2%)patients did not relapse during the study;for those who did relapse,the mean duration of remission was 4.6±2.9 *** number of relapse episodes during the study period(0.90 per patient-year)was significantly lower than that in the preceding year(2.8 per patientyear).After treatment for 3 and 6 months,12(36.4%)of the 33 patients with SRNS were in remission,and after treatment for 12 months,the number of patients had increased to 13(39.4%).The mean time to achieve remission was 4.0±3.2 *** remission(duration,3.7±2.7 months),12(54.5%)of 22 patients *** fasting blood glucose and blood pressure levels during the therapy were similar to those at the time of study ***:Treatment with Tacrobell®was effective and safe for children with refractory *** efficacy of this generic form of TAC was better than that of the original TAC formula.

Transient ischemia in the whole brain leads to neuronal loss/death in vulnerable brain regions. The striatum, neocortex and hippocampus selectively loose specific neurons after transient ischemia. Just 5 minutes of transient ischemia can cause pyramidal neuronal death in the hippocampal cornu ammonis (CA) 1 field at 4 days after transient ischemia. In this study, we investigated the effects of 5-minute (mild), 15-minute (severe), and 20-minute (lethal) transient ischemia by bilateral common carotid artery occlusion (BCCAO) on behavioral change and neuronal death and gliosis (astrocytosis and microgliosis) in gerbil hippocampal subregions (CA1-3 region and dentate gyrus). We performed spontaneous motor activity test to evaluate gerbil locomotor activity, cresyl violet staining to detect cellular distribution, neuronal nuclei immunohistochemistry to detect neuronal distribution, and Fluoro-Jade B histofluorescence to evaluate neuronal death. We also conducted immunohistochemical staining for glial fibrillary acidic protein and ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 (Ibal) to evaluate astrocytosis and microgliosis, respectively. Animals subjected to 20-minute BCCAO died in at least 2 days. BCCAO for 15 minutes led to pyramidal cell death in hippocampal CA1-3 region 2 days later and granule cell death in hippocampal de匚tate gyrus 5 days later. Similar results were not found in animals subjected to 5-minute BCCAO. Gliosis was much more rapidly and severely progressed in animals subjected to 15-minute BCCAO than in those subjected to 5- minute BCCAO. Our results indicate that neuronal loss in the hippocampal formation following transient ischemia is significantly different according to regions and severity of transient ischemia. The experimental protocol was approved by Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (AICUC) of Kangwon National University (approval No. KW-180124-1) on May 22, 2018.

Ischemic preconditioning（IPC） is a condition of sublethal transient global ischemia and exhibits neuroprotective effects against subsequent lethal ischemic ***,in this study,examined the neuroprotective effects of IPC and its effects on immunoreactive changes of antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase（SOD） 1 and SOD2,catalase（CAT） and glutathione peroxidase（GPX） in the gerbil hippocampal CA1 region after transient forebrain *** neurons of the stratum pyramidale（SP） in the hippocampal CA1 region of animals died 5 days after lethal transient ischemia without IPC（8.6%（ratio of remanent neurons） of the sham-operated group）;however,IPC prevented the pyramidal neurons from subsequent lethal ischemic injury（92.3%（ratio of remanent neurons） of the sham-operated group）.SOD1,SOD2,CAT and GPX immunoreactivities in the sham-operated animals were easily detected in pyramidal neurons in the stratum pyramidale（SP） of the hippocampal CA1 region,while all of these immunoreactivities were rarely detected in the stratum pyramidale at 5 days after lethal transient ischemia without ***,their immunoreactivities in the sham-operated animals with IPC were similar to（SOD1,SOD2 and CAT） or higher（GPX） than those in the sham-operated animals without ***,their immunoreactivities in the stratum pyramidale of the ischemia-operated animals with IPC were steadily maintained after lethal ischemia/*** of western blot analysis for SOD1,SOD2,CAT and GPX were similar to immunohistochemical *** conclusion,IPC maintained or increased the expression of antioxidant enzymes in the stratum pyramidale of the hippocampal CA1 region after subsequent lethal transient forebrain ischemia and IPC exhibited neuroprotective effects in the hippocampal CA1 region against transient forebrain ischemia.

An alternative path for the preparation of triacetylcellulose (TAC) from unrefined biomass Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) has been found with environmental benefits. The method comprises separation and regeneration of cellulose from lignocellulosic biomass dissolved in ionic liquid BMIMCl, and also modification of cellulose to TAC. The triacetylcellulose with a degree of substitution of 2.93 was obtained by the reaction of acetic anhydride at 55。C with drastically reducing number of steps currently required to produce this derivative from raw materials itself. TAC was characterized using NMR analysis. The triacetate cellulose is typically used for the creation of fibers and film base.

The final analysis of the phase 3 Targeted Investigational Treatment Analysis of Novel Anti-androgen(TITAN)trial showed improvement in overall survival(OS)and other efficacy endpoints with apalutamide plus androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)versus ADT alone in patients with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer(mCSPC).As ethnicity and regional differences may affect treatment outcomes in advanced prostate cancer,a post hoc final analysis was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of apalutamide in the Asian ***-driven endpoints were OS,and time from randomization to initiation of castration resistance,prostate-specific antigen(PSA)progression,and second progression-free survival(PFS2)on first subsequent therapy or *** endpoints were assessed using the Kaplan–Meier method and Cox proportional-hazards models without formal statistical testing and adjustment for *** Asian patients received once-daily apalutamide 240 mg(n=111)or placebo(n=110)plus *** a median follow-up of 42.5 months and despite crossover of 47 placebo recipients to open-label apalutamide,apalutamide reduced the risk of death by 32%(hazard ratio[HR]:0.68;95%confidence interval[CI]:0.42–1.13),risk of castration resistance by 69%(HR:0.31;95%CI:0.21–0.46),PSA progression by 79%(HR:0.21;95%CI:0.13–0.35)and PFS2 by 24%(HR:0.76;95%CI:0.44–1.29)relative to *** outcomes were comparable between subgroups with low-and high-volume disease at *** new safety issues were *** provides valuable clinical benefits to Asian patients with mCSPC,with an efficacy and safety profile consistent with that in the overall patient population.

Plasmodium vivax, a major agent of malaria in both temperate and tropical climates, has a limited capacity for infecting humans lacking the Duffy(Fy) blood group antigen as this receptor is critical for erythrocyte invasion. Recent surveys in various endemic regions, however, have reported P. vivax infections in Duffy-negative individuals, suggesting that the parasite may utilize alternative receptor-ligand pairs to complete erythrocyte invasion. Here, we identified and characterized a novel parasite ligand, GPI-anchored micronemal antigen(Pv GAMA), that can bind human erythrocytes regardless of Duffy antigen status. Specific antibodies raised against PvG AMA localize the protein to the parasite microneme, consistent with a role in invasion. These antibodies also inhibited Pv GAMA binding to erythrocytes in a dose-dependent manner. Pv GAMA appears to play a role in a sialic acid-independent, chymotrypsin-sensitive invasion pathway. Thus, Pv GAMA may be an adhesion molecule for invasion of Duffy positive and negative human erythrocytes and is an important P. vivax vaccine candidate.

AIM： To investigate prevalence of C/onorchis sinensis in patients with gastrointestinal symptoms, and the relation of the infection to hepatobiliary diseases in 26 hospitals in Korea. METHODS： Consecutive patients who had been admitted to the Division of Gastroenterology with gastrointestinal symptoms were enrolled from March to April 2005. Of those who had been diagnosed with clonorchiasis, epidemiology and correlation between infection and hepatobiliary diseases were surveyed by questionnaire. RESULTS： Of 3080 patients with gastrointestinal diseases, 396 （12.9%） had clonorchiasis and 1140 patients （37.2%） had a history of eating raw freshwater fish. Of those with a history of raw freshwater fish ingestion, 238 （20.9%） patients had clonorchiasis. Cholangiocarcinoma was more prevalent in C. sinensis-infected patients than nonnfected patients [34/396 （8.6%） vs 145/2684 （5.4%）, P = 0.015]. Cholangiocarcinoma and clonorchiasis showed statistically significant positive cross-relation （P = 0.008）. Choledocholithiasis, cholecystolithiasis, cholangitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and biliary pancreatitis did not correlate with clonorchiasis. CONCLUSION： Infection rate of clonorchiasis was still high in patients with gastrointestinal diseases in Korea, and has not decreased very much during the last two decades. Cholangiocarcinoma was related to clonorchiasis, which suggested an etiological role for the parasite.

研究目的：本次研究旨在比较加工方法及组成不同的双磷酸钙（biphasic calcium phosphates,BCP）的骨引导的能力和骨愈合的模式。材料和方法：10只雄性新西兰白兔，每只兔子颅顶有4个8mm环形缺损．每个缺损代表一个组别：对照组．实验组：BCP1．70％ha（羟基磷灰石）．30％β-TCP（β-三磷酸钙）：BCP2，30％ha，70％p-TCP；BCP3，20％ha．80％D-TCP。兔子在第2周（n=5）或第8周（n=5）在处死后进行组织学及组织计量学分析。结果：在双磷酸钙（BCP）组的骨增量远大于对照组（P〈005）。第2周或第8周新骨形成量无明显差异。在第2周，BCP3组的双磷酸钙的吸收作用远大于BCP1和BCP2组．然而在第8周．BCP2和BCP3的这种差别变得不明显。BCP组问新骨形成的模式和材料的吸收有明显差异。在BCP1组中．新骨在剩余颗粒中呈线性排列，在BCP2组中，可观察到丝状伪足状新骨形成;在BCP3组中．可见分散在剩余颗粒中的胶原蛋白片段及颗粒表面的裂隙状不规则新骨形成。结论：在本研究中．特定的ha、β-TCP比例对新骨形成和空间的保持无明显影响。而组间观察到的骨愈合模式的差别可归因于加工方法不同所导致的双磷酸钙（BCPs）的物理化学属性的差异。
