Malaysia and the Factors that Influence Its Seed Industry: Natural Resources, Policies, Market and Fundings

Malaysia, situated in Southeast Asia, is a relatively small country of 33 million hectares of land, and with a total cultivable area estimated in 14.2 million ha. However, in 2013, only 53% of it was cultivated. Remarkably enough, in 2012, 67% of the whole land used under agriculture was destined for oil palm plantations. Likewise, Malaysia has been recognized as one of the twelve mega-diversity countries of the world, thanks to its rich variety of species and diverse number of ecosystems. Furthermore, as Malaysia lies in the equatorial zone, the average temperature throughout the entire year is 26 °C; which is controlled by the northeast and southwest monsoons, and consequently, receiving around 2,000 mm to 2,500 mm of rainfall annually. In addition, Malaysia has an annual average of 990 billion m3 of water resources inside the entire territory. Moreover, as Malaysia realized the importance of shifting into a knowledge-based economy, it's now really focused on the development of human and intellectual capital in order to produce adequate supply. In that way, under the Malaysia Education Blueprint from 2013 to 2015, a sum of RM 41.3 billion is expected to be allocated in 2016, to improve the quality of education. Conjointly, the agriculture in Malaysia is a fundamental piece in the country's economy, contributing to the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as in 2013 this sector employed more than 1.6 million people. On the other hand, in Malaysia two distinct Agricultural Policies have been established to give strategic direction to the agricultural sector: The Policy before Independence (1948-1957) and The Policy after the independence (1957-2020) (which is as well, formed by several policies). Hydroxyapatite(ha)is a representative substance that induces bone *** research team extracted nanohydroxyapatite(EH)from natural resources,especially equine bones,and developed it as a molecular biological ***(PEI)was used to coat the EH to develop a gene *** verify that PEI is well coated in the EH,we first observed the morphology and dispersity of PEI-coated EH(pEH)by electron *** pEH particles were well distributed,while only the EH particles were not distributed and ***,the existence of nitrogen elements of PEI on the surface of the pEH was confirmed by EDS,calcium concentration measurement and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).Additionally,the pEH was confirmed to have a more positive charge than the 25 kD PEI by comparing the zeta *** a result of pGL3 transfection,pEH was better able to transport genes to cells than 25 kD *** verification as a gene carrier for pEH,we induced osteogenic differentiation of DPSCs by loading the BMP-2 gene in pEH(BMP-2/pEH)and delivering it to the *** a result,it was confirmed that osteogenic differentiation was promoted by showing that the expression of osteopontin(OPN),osteocalcin(OCN),and runt-related transcription factor 2(RUNX2)was significantly increased in the group treated with BMP-2/*** conclusion,we have not only developed a novel nonviral gene carrier that is better performing and less toxic than 25 kD PEI by modifying natural ha(the agricultural byproduct)but also proved that bone differentiation can be effectively promoted by delivering BMP-2 with pEH to stem cells.

CIM Model Extension for Intelligent DAS of Smart Power Grid in Korea

The CIM (common information model) is an abstract information model that can be used to model an electrical network and various equipments used on the network. By using a common model, utilities and vendors can reduce their integration costs, which should allow more resources to be applied toward increased functionality for managing and optimizing the electrical system. As a part of smart grid, the SPG (smart power grid) was built on Jeju Island. The SPG consists of IDAS (intelligent distribution automation system), substation automation system, intelligent transmission system, and active telemetrics system. To integrate these systems which have different operating systems and platforms CIM standard was used. But IDAS has many functions and advanced algorithms not defined in CIM. In this paper, the authors introduce how to develop and extend the CIM model for managing the IDAS.

目的应用320层CT(MDCT)评估成人自由呼吸状态下冠状动脉CT血管成像(CCTA)的可行性。方法在74例接受CCTA检查的病人中,37例在自由呼吸状态下进行,另外37例在标准的屏气状态下完成。分别对所有冠状动脉的16段质量评分进行分析,并将其定义为:1极好,2良好,3不良。比较2种检查方法下每幅影像的信噪比(SNR)、对比噪声比(CNR)和有效辐射剂量。结果屏气和自由呼吸两种检查方法的影像质量评分差异无统计学意义[(1.10±0.31)∶(1.12±0.33);P=0.443]。两种检查方法间的SNR和CNR差异无统计学意义,有效剂量的总均数差异亦无统计学意义(P=0.585)。结论应用320层MDCT自由呼吸下CCTA与标准屏气CCTA影像质量之间差异无统计学意义。对于那些屏气困难或因不可忽视的呼吸暂停导致的心率不稳的病人,自由呼吸CCTA可作为评估冠状动脉的替代方法。要点①心脏CT的应用越来越广泛,不可避免地会面对一些屏气不足的病人。②MDCT(如320层)为这些屏气不足的病人带来了新的机会。③自由呼吸状态下与屏气状态下所获得的影像质量相当。④较高的辐射剂量限制了它的临床应用。

A Proposed Core Catcher System and Thermite Experimental Results

To prevent direct contact of the melt and basemat concrete of the cavity in a postulated core melt accident, a core catcher concept is suggested. Upon ablation of the sacrificial layer on top of the core catcher while molten core material is discharged, a mixture of water and gas is injected from below. It is expected that a simultaneous injection of water and gas could prevent a possible steam explosion/spike and also suppress the rapid release of steam which might result in fast over-pressurization of the containment. A test facility for the core catcher using a thermite reaction technique for the generation of the melt was designed and constructed at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). The first series of tests were performed by using a mixture of Al, Fe2O3, and CaO as a stimulant. As a first try, only water was injected from the bottom of the melt through five water injection nozzles when the melt front reached the water injection nozzles. A description of the test facility for the core catcher, the thermite composition, and the methods of experiment is included. The test results are discussed.

为了获得高的开口率,有必要优化设计参数和工艺容差。通常的过孔刻蚀工艺采用SF6基气体进行刻蚀,但是这种方法在金属和钝化层之间的选择性太小,因此,必须增加过孔的尺寸才行。为了克服上述问题,在本研究中用CF4气体代替SF6气体进行刻蚀,结果在FFS 5 .16(2 .03 in)像素结构中,开口率提高了60 %。

Expression of oncogenes m colorectal cancer tissue was evaluated with immunohistochemical staining methods using monoclonal antibodies to products of the oncogenes. Rates of expression in colorectal cancer tissue were 52.5％ for c-myc, 67.0％ for c-erb B and 63.3％ for c-ha-ras oncogenes. Expression of c-ha-ras in colorectal cancer was not correlated with the histologic differentiation. However, expression of myc oncogene was higher in well differentiated adenocarcinoma(p＜0.05). There were no correlation between expression of c-ha-ms, c-myc, and c-erb B2 oncogenes and lymph node and/or distant metastasis. Results showed that these three oncogenes were not related to the prognosis or survival of colorectal cancer patients.
