On september 23, 2020, in order “To address the serious risks of abuse, addiction, physical dependence, and withdrawal reactions, the U.s. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requiring the Boxed Warning be updated for all benzodiazepine medicines”. With this announcement, the FDA proclaimed that much more needs to be known about the initiation, continuation, and discontinuation of these widely-used drugs. Unfortunately, relevant information is lacking, since for many years, there has been a notable sparsity in the funding and conduct of basic and clinical research on these drugs. In order to begin to fill the void, it is valuable to (re)examine animal models. We here describe a model of conditioned place-preference (CPP) for rats and for the first time, to our knowledge, show that the representative benzodiazepine alprazolam induces positive place-preference in male rats.

This article presents the results of experimental studies concerning the dynamic deformation and failure of a unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced plastic(T700/LY113)under *** test samples were manufactured through the filament winding of flat *** establish the strain rate dependencies of the strength and elastic modulus of the material,dynamic tests were carried out using a drop tower,the split hopkinson Pressure Bar method,and standard static *** samples were loaded both along and perpendicular to the direction of the reinforcing *** applicability of the obtained samples for static and dynamic tests was confirmed through finite elementmodeling and the high-speed imaging of the deformation and failure of samples during *** a result of the conducted experimental studies,static and dynamic stress-strain curves,time dependencies of deformation and the stress and strain rates of the samples during compression were *** on these results,the strain rate dependencies of the strength and elasticity modulus in the strain rate range of 0.001-6001/s are *** is shown that the strain rate significantly affects the strength and deformation characteristics of the unidirectional carbon fiber composites under *** increase in the strain rate by 5 orders of magnitude increased the strength and elastic modulus along the fiber direction by 42%and 50%,*** loading resulted in a strength and elastic modulus increase by 58%and 50%,*** average strength along the fibers at the largest studied strain rate was about *** obtained results can be used to design structural elements made of polymer composite materials operating under dynamic shock loads,as well as to build models of mechanical behavior and failure criteria of such materials,taking into account the strain rate effects.

β-Glucans are biomacromolecules that present biological properties of medical and pharmacological interest, The chemical modification of the primary structure of these carbohydrate biopolymers is a way to enhance or achieve new biological properties. Acetylated derivatives of （1→6）-β-D-glucan （lasiodiplodan） with different degrees of substitution （0.48, 0.66, 1.03 and 1.26） were obtained and characterized by infra-red and NmR （nuclear magnetic resonance） spectroscopy, thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and antioxidant capacity. Acetylation was confirmed by FT-IR, and βC NmR spectroscopy. Thermal analysis indicated that unmodified lasiodiplodan and the O-acetylated β-glucan derivative of degree of substitution 0.48 presented three stages of mass-loss, whereas acetylated derivatives of Ds （degree of substitution） of 0.66, 1.03 and 1.26 presented four stages of mass-loss. X-ray diffractograms demonstrated that both native and acetylated lasiodiplodan presented crystalline regions in an amorphous polymeric matrix. scanning electron microscopy revealed that O-acetylation promoted morphologic changes in the biopolymer according to the Ds. Acetylation also contributed to improve antioxidant capacity.

The benzodiazepines were introduced into medical practice during the 1960s. At the time, they represented a safer alternative to extant therapies used for anxiety, such as the barbiturates. However, on September 23, 2020, the United States FDA indicated that more is needed to be known about the initiation, continuation, and discontinuation of the use of these widely-used drugs with publication of the announcement “to address the serious risks of abuse, addiction, physical dependence, and withdrawal reactions, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requiring the Boxed Warning be updated for all benzodiazepine medicines.” Because for many years, there has been a sparsity of research on these drugs, relevant information is unfortunately lacking at this critical time. Effects of organic fertilizers and effective microbes on leaf water retention of sweet corn (Zea mays L. ***-Bantam) were studied. sweet corns were grown with organic or chemical fertilizers with or without effective microbes (em). A water retention curve was obtained by drying the excised leaves under a light of 500 μmol (m2·s)-1. The curve shows two distinct phases. The initial steep slope indicates the water loss speed by stomatal transpiration (Est) and the gentle slope of the second phase indicates water loss speed by cuticular transpiration (Ecu). Both Est and Ecu were lower for leaves of plants grown with organic materials than for those with chemical fertilizers. Addition of em to both organic and chemical fertilizers decreased Est but showed no effect on Ecu. The water retention ability of the excised leaves was proportional to photosynthetic maintenance ability under soil water deficit conditions as well as the solute concentration in leaves. The results suggested that organic fertilization and em application increased water stress resistance both under in situ conditions and in excised leaves of sweet corn plants.

The opening and spreading of the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and south america evolved during the Early Cretaceous and were preceded by dramatic tholeiitic(mafic)magmatism and minor silicic and alkaline *** features are presently recognized from the equatorial regions of Brazil and Africa to the Falklands and south *** southeastern south america,continental flood basalts and related plumbing systems constitute the Paranámagmatic Province(PmP),whose African counterpart is the Etendeka magmatic Province(emP).In northeastern Brazil,dike swarms and sill complexes compose the Equatorial Atlantic magmatic Province(EQUamP).As a common feature,these provinces are chemically represented by two prevalent magma types:(1)tholeiitic basalts and basaltic andesites with lowTi(TiO_(2)so including transitional Ti tholeiites with TiO_(2)~2.7-1.7 wt.%,and low incompatible element *** type is predominantly found in the southern PmP and emP,with minor occurrences in the EQUamP.(2)Tholeiitic basalts and basaltic andesites with high Ti(TiO_(2)>~2 wt.%)and incompatible element *** Ti tholeiites are relevant in the northern PmP and emP,and dominant in *** rocks(siO_(2)=57-65 wt.%)interpreted as byproducts of assimilation and/or fractional crystallization(AFC)processes from high Ti tholeiitic magmas,are scarce(but present)in all three *** accurate analysis of multivariable databases collected from the literature for dikes and sills,including major and trace element and radiogenic isotope data,reveals close similarities in their geochemical *** a paleogeographic reconstruction of West Gondwana,the intrusive remnants of the PmP,emP and EQUamP are spread over an area of nearly 10×10^(6)km^(2).forming perhaps the most extensive set of plumbing systems on Earth,with a relatively consistent chronology based on a vast collection of K-Ar and^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar data available in the *** work provides the first c
