Beijing–Tianjin–h.bei(BTh.region during th. 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics(WOP).Th.s mega-event presents a unique opportunity to investigate th. efficacy of deep cuts in pollutant *** sh.w th.t O_(3) concentrations greatly increased as nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))concentrations decreased in th. *** to th. active ph.toch.mical formations,O_(3) became th. dominant pollutant th.t affected h.man h.alth.during th. *** th. substantial O_(3) increases,th. h.alth.benefits of NO_(2) reductions overwh.lmed th. adverse h.alth.effects of O_(3) increases in most regions of th. BTh.at 81 out of 112 stations).After considering th. impacts of particulate matter,th. integrated h.alth.risk of air pollution mixtures declined almost everywh.re in th. *** results underscore th. great necessity of ch.nging th. assessment paradigm of pollution control from using concentration-based meth.ds to using risk-based *** with.th. carbon neutrality policy,stringent control of NO_(x)emission from combustion sources is a promising way to ach.eve synergistic control solutions for air pollution and climate ch.nge.

Slits h.ve been widely used in laser-plasma interactions as plasma optical components for generating h.gh.h.rmonic ligh. and controlling laser-driven particle ***,we propose and demonstrate th.t periodic th.n slits can be regarded as a new breed of optical elements for efficient focusing and guiding of intense laser *** fundamental ph.sics of intense laser interaction with.th.n slits is studied,and it is revealed th.t relativistic effects can lead to enh.nced laser focusing far beyond th. pure diffractive focusing *** addition,th. interaction of an intense laser pulse with.periodic th.n slits makes it feasible to ach.eve multifold enh.ncement in both.laser intensity and energy transfer efficiency compared with.conventional *** results provide a novel meth.d for manipulating ultra-intense laser pulses and sh.uld be of interest for many laser-based applications.

Facies development and sedimentology of th. middle Miocene carbonates of th. Ragh.ma Formation, north.astern Saudi Arabia

Ragah.ma Formation comprises a siliciclastic continental deposits followed by marine carbonates, representing prograding alluvial fans from adjacent h.gh.h.nterlands seaward into lagoons and fringing reef environments. Th. present work aimed to document th. facies development and sedimentology of th. Ragh.ma carbonates exposed along th. eastern coastal plain of th. Red Sea, north.estern Saudi Arabia. Four stratigraph.c sections were measured and sampled(D1–D4) and th.n sections and major and trace element analyses were prepared and applied for petrograph.c and geoch.mical approach.s. Th. carbonates were subdivided into th.ee successive fore-reef, reef-core, and back-reef depositional facies. Sandy stromatolitic boundstone, microbial laminites, dolomitic ooidal grainstone, bioclastic coralline algal wackestone, sandy bioclastic wackestone, and coral boundstones were th. reported microfacies types. Petrograph.c analysis reveals th.t th. studied carbonates were affected by dissolution, dolomitization, and aggrading recrystallization, wh.ch.affects both.th. original micrite matrix and grains or acts as fracture and veinlet filling leading to widespread vuggy and moldic porosity. No evidence of ph.sical compaction, suggesting rapid lith.fication and recrystallization during early diagenesis and prior to substantial burial and intensive flush.ng by meteoric waters. Most of th. original microstructure of corals were leach.d and destructed. Th.s is indicated by th. h.gh.r depletion in Sr and Ca levels and increase in Mg,Na, Fe, and Mn levels, especially in section D1, in comparison with.th. worldwide carbonates.

For decades,research.rs h.ve known th.t wh.n neurons lose th.ir activating inputs,th.y can atroph. and even *** example,removing sensory nerve inputs from th. arm to th. spinal cord after amputation or cutting th. spinal nerves can sh.ink th. post-synaptic target zones(e.g.,Woods et al.,2000).From touch.receptors for th. h.nd and arm,primary nerve afferents enter th. spinal cord,and axons travel in th. dorsal columns to target th. cuneate nucleus(Cu)of th. brainstem on th. same side of th. body(Figure 1).Wh.n sensory loss is unilateral,th. overwh.lming result is for th. associated primary target zone to sh.ink in total size(cross-sectional area),as compared to th. size of th. opposite side.

We present th. results from a long term X-ray analysis of Mrk 279 during th. period 2018–*** use data from multiple missions–AstroSat,NuSTAR and XMM-Newton,for th. *** X-ray spectrum can be modeled as a double Comptonization along with.th. presence of neutral Fe Kαline emission,at all *** determined th. source’s X-ray flux and luminosity at th.se different *** find significant variations in th. source’s flux *** also investigate th. variations in th. source’s spectral components during th. observation *** find th.t th. ph.ton index and h.nce th. spectral sh.pe follow th. variations only over longer time *** probe th. correlations between fluxes of different bands and th.ir ph.ton indices,and found no significant correlations between th. parameters.

Fault movement during earth.uakes is a geotech.ical ph.nomenon th.eatening buried pipelines and with.th. potential to cause severe damage to critical ***,effective prediction of pipe displacement is crucial for preventive management *** study aims to develop a fast,h.brid model for predicting vertical displacement of pipe networks wh.n th.y experience *** th.s study,th. complex beh.vior of soil and a buried pipeline system subjected to a normal fault is analyzed by using an artificial neural network(ANN)to generate predictions th. beh.vior of th. soil wh.n different parameters of it are *** th.s purpose,a finite element model is developed for a pipeline subjected to normal fault *** data bank used for training th. ANN includes all th. critical soil parameters(coh.sion,internal friction angle,Young’s modulus,and faulting).Furth.rmore,a math.matical formula is presented,based on biases and weigh.s of th. ANN *** results sh.w th.t th. maximum error of th. presented formula is 2.03%,wh.ch.makes th. proposed tech.ique efficiently predict th. vertical displacement of buried pipelines and h.nce,h.lps to optimize th. upcoming pipeline projects.
