Conductive and stable polyphenylene/CNT composite membrane for electrically enhanced membrane fouling mitigation

Nanocarbon-based conductive membranes, especially carbon nanotube (CNT)-based membranes, have tremendous potential for wastewater treatment and water purification because of their excellent water permeability and selectivity, as well as their electrochemically enhanced performance (e.g., improved antifouling ability). however, it remains challenging to prepare CNT membranes with high structural stability and high electrical conductivity. In this study, a highly electroconductive and structurally stable polyphenylene/CNT (PP/CNT) composite membrane was prepared by electropolymerizing biphenyl on a CNT hollow fiber membrane. The PP/CNT membrane showed 3.4 and 5.0 times higher electrical conductivity than pure CNT and poly(vinyl alcohol)/CNT (PVA/CNT) membranes, respectively. The structural stability of the membrane was superior to that of the pure CNT membrane and comparable to that of the PVA/CNT membrane. The membrane fouling was significantly alleviated under an electrical assistance of −2.0 V, with a flux loss of only 11.7% after 5 h filtration of humic acid, which is significantly lower than those of PP/CNT membranes without electro-assistance (56.8%) and commercial polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes (64.1%). Additionally, the rejection of negatively charged pollutants (humic acid and sodium alginate) was improved by the enhanced electrostatic repulsion. After four consecutive filtration-cleaning cycle tests, the flux recovery rate after backwashing reached 97.2%, which was much higher than those of electricity-free PP/CNT membranes (67.0%) and commercial PVDF membranes (61.1%). This study offers insights into the preparation of stable conductive membranes for membrane fouling control in potential water treatment applications.

A roasting-leaching test was carried out for the efficient utilization of clay-type lithium ore in the central region of Yunnan *** test used the mixed acid of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid as the leaching *** the conditions of roasting temperature of 600℃,roasting time of 1 h,liquid-solid ratio of 5:1,volume ratio of h_(2)SO_(4)solution to h_(3)PO_(4)solution of 45:5,leaching time of 2 h and leaching temperature of 80℃,the leaching rate of lithium was as high as 97.83%.The leaching mechanism was studied by SEM,pore property analysis,XRD and *** was found that the morphology of the ore changed obviously after roasting and leaching,and a certain degree of collapse and fragmentation occurred,which provided favorable spatial conditions for the leaching of *** porosity,total intrusion volume and total pore area also increased after roasting and leaching,thus promoting the leaching of Li^(+).The results showed that chemical reaction taken placed during the roasting and *** phase of the sample changed from chlorite,kaolinite and diaspore(boehmite)mainly to corundum,hematite,periclase and quartz after ***,after leaching,no new phase was produced in the ore sample,and no S and P elements were found on the surface of the ore sample,indicating that the leaching mechanism of lithium might be the ion exchange between h^(+)and Li^(+).

We propose a scheme to realize antibunched multiple-photon bundles based on phonon blockade in a quadratically coupled optomechanical *** adjusting the detunings to match the conditions of phonon blockade in the photon sidebands,we establish super-Rabi oscillation between zero-photon state and multiple-photon states with adjustable super-Rabi frequencies under appropriate single-phonon resonant *** the system dissipation into account,we numerically calculate the standard and generalized second-order functions of the cavity mode as well as the quantum trajectories of the state populations with Monte Carlo simulation to confirm that the emitted photons form antibunched multiple-photon ***,the desirable n-photon states are reconstructed after a direct phonon emission based on phonon blockade,and thus the single-phonon emission heralds the cascade emission of n-photon *** proposal shows that the optomechanical system can simultaneously behave as antibunched multiple-photon emitter and single-phonon *** a nonclassical source could have potential applications in quantum information science.

In this study,precise control over the thickness and termination of Ti3C2TX MXene flakes is achieved to enhance their electrical properties,environmental stability,and gas-sensing *** a hybrid method involving high-pressure processing,stirring,and immiscible solutions,sub-100 nm MXene flake thickness is achieved within the MXene film on the *** control is achieved by defunctionalizing MXene at 650℃ under vacuum and h2 gas in a CVD furnace,followed by refunctionalization with iodine and bromine vaporization from a bubbler attached to the ***,the introduction of iodine,which has a larger atomic size,lower electronegativity,reduce shielding effect,and lower hydrophilicity(contact angle:99°),profoundly affecting *** improves the surface area(36.2 cm^(2) g^(-1)),oxidation stability in aqueous/ambient environments(21 days/80 days),and film conductivity(749 S m^(-1)).Additionally,it significantly enhances the gas-sensing performance,including the sensitivity(0.1119Ωppm^(-1)),response(0.2% and 23%to 50 ppb and 200 ppm NO_(2)),and response/recovery times(90/100 s).The reduced shielding effect of the–I-terminals and the metallic characteristics of MXene enhance the selectivity of I-MXene toward *** approach paves the way for the development of stable and high-performance gas-sensing two-dimensional materials with promising prospects for future studies.

Phase change materials (PCMs) can be incorporated with low-cost minerals to synthesize composites for thermal energy storage in building *** coal (SC) after vanadium extraction treatment shows potential for secondary utilization in composite *** prepared SC-based composite PCMs with SC as a matrix,stearic acid (SA) as a PCM,and expanded graphite (EG) as an *** combined roasting and acid leaching treatment of raw SC was conducted to understand the effect of vanadium extraction on promoting loading *** showed that the combined treatment of roasting at 900℃ and leaching increased the SC loading of the composite by 6.2%by improving the specific surface *** loading capacity and thermal conductivity of the composite obviously increased by 127%and 48.19%,respectively,due to the contribution of 3wt% *** data were supported by the high load of 66.69%and thermal conductivity of 0.59 W·m^(-1)·K-1of the designed *** obtained composite exhibited a phase change temperature of 52.17℃,melting latent heat of 121.5 J·g^(-1),and good chemical *** SC-based composite has prospects in building applications exploiting the secondary utilization of minerals.

The sluggish redox kinetics of polysulfides in lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries are a significant obstacle to their widespread adoption as energy storage ***,recent studies have shown that tungsten oxide(WO_(3))can facilitate the conversion kinetics of polysulfides in Li-S ***,we fabricated host materials for sulfur using nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(N-CNTs)and WO_(3).We used low-cost components and simple procedures to overcome the poor electrical conductivity that is a disadvantage of metal *** composites of WO_(3) and N-CNTs(WO_(3)/N-CNTs)create a stable framework structure,fast ion diffusion channels,and a 3D electron transport network during electrochemical reaction *** a result,the WO_(3)/N-CNT-Li2S6 cathode demonstrates high initial capacity(1162 mA·h·g^(-1) at 0.5℃),excellent rate performance(618 mA·h·g^(-1) at 5.5℃),and a low capacity decay rate(0.093%up to 600 cycles at 2℃).This work presents a novel approach for preparing tungsten oxide/carbon composite catalysts that facilitate the redox kinetics of polysulfide conversion.
