This paper presents a technique to reproduce compatible seismogran3s involving permanent displacen3ent effects at sites close to the fault source. A multi-objective evolutionary algorithm is used to minimize the differences between the response spectra and multi-tapered power spectral delsilies corresponding to the recorded and simulated wavelbrms. The multi-taper method is used to reduce the spectral leakage that is inherent in the Fourier rams formed form ofwavelbrms, ieading to a reduction of variance in power spectral amplitudes, thus permitting the calibration of the two sets of data. The technique is implemented using the 1998-Fandoqa （lran） earthquake data and the results are compared with the actual observed data. Additionally, a comparison is made with a SAR interfcrometry study leading to fair agreement with the reported dislocation along the main fault. The simulation procedure and results are discussed and assessed concluding that, although the technique may be associated with uncertainties, it can still be used to reproduce wavelbnns at near source sites that include permanent dislocation, and can be used for seismic pertbrmance evaluation of structures in the region under study.

Rock abrasivity influences wear of cutting tools and consequently,performance of mechanized tunneling *** methods have been proposed to evaluate rock abrasivity in recent decades,each one has its own *** this paper,a new method is introduced to estimate wear of disc cutters based on rock cutting tests using scaled down discs(i.e.54 and 72 mm diameter).The discs are made of h13 steel,which is a common steel type in producing real-scale discs,with hardness of 32 and 54 *** small-scale linear rock cutting machine and a new abrasion test apparatus,namely University of Tehran abrasivity test machine,are utilized to perform the *** width of the worn discs is monitored and presented as the function of the accumulated test run to classify the rock *** tests show that by increasing the uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of the rock samples,wear rate is doubled gradually that reveals the sensitivity of the test procedure to the main pa-rameters affecting the abrasivity of hard *** the rocks with the highest UCS,the normal wear stops after performing 5 to 10 rounds of the tests,and then,deformation of the disc tip is *** abrasivity indices are defined based on the abrasivity tests results and their correlations with Cerchar Abrasivity Index(CAI)and UCS are *** of the established correlations in this study with previous investigations dem-onstrates the sensitivity of the indices to the parameters affecting wear of the disc cutters and repeatability of the outputs obtained from abrasivity tests using scaled down *** of this study can be used to enhance the accuracy of rock abrasivity classifications.

Experiments were conducted on a lab-scale fluidized bed to study the distribution of liquid ethanol injected into fluidized catalyst particles. Electrical capacitance measurements were used to study the liquid distribution inside the bed, and a new method was developed to determine the liquid content inside fluidized beds of fluid catalytic cracking particles. The results shed light on the complex liquid injection region and reveal the strong effect of superficial gas velocity on liquid distribution inside the fluidized bed, which is also affected by the imbibition of liquid inside particle pores. Particle internal porosity was found to play a major role when the changing mass of liquid in the bed was monitored. The results also showed that the duration of liquid injection affected liquid-solid contact inside the bed and that liouid-solid mixin~ was not homogeneous durin~ the limited liouid injection time.

The Prussian blue nanoparticles（PBNPs） were prepared by a self-assembly process, on a glassy carbon（GC） electrode modified with a poly（o-phenylenediamine）（Po PD） film. The stepwise fabrication process of PBNPs-modified Po PD/GCE was characterized by scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The prepared PBNPs showed an average size of 70 nm and a homogeneous distribution on the surface of modified electrodes. The PBNPs/Po PD/GCE showed adequate mechanical, electrochemical stability and good sensitivity in comparison with other PB based h2O2 sensors. The present modified electrode exhibited a linear response for h2O2 reduction over the concentration range of 1–58.22 mmol L ^-1with a detection limit of ca. 0.8 mmol L ^-1（S/N = 3）, and sensitivity of 3187.89 m A（mol L ^-1） ^-1cm ^-2using the amperometric method. This sensor was employed for the h2O2 determination in real sample and also exhibited good interference resistance and selectivity.

In this work, a quantum-chemical investigation on the structural and opto-electronic properties of oligo（thiophene-phenylene）（4TP） is carried out. The results are discussed in comparison with the properties of corresponding oligothiophene （8T） and oligophenylene （8P）. As the opto-electronic properties of this type of conducting polymers are governed by their electronic band gap, we shall also present a comparison among hOMO, LUMO and band gap energies of these three materials.
