The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

End-of-life care in a cardiology department： have we improved？

Background End-of-life care is not usually a priority in cardiology departments. We sought to evaluate the changes in end-of-life care after the introduction of a do-not-resuscitate （DNR） order protocol. methods ＆ Results Retrospective analysis of all deaths in a cardiology department in two periods, before and after the introduction of the protocol. Comparison of demographic characteristics, use of DNR orders, and end-of-life care issues between both periods, according to the presence in the second period of the new DNR sheet （Group A）, a conven- tional DNR order （Group B） or the absence of any DNR order （Group C）. The number of deaths was similar in both periods （n = 198 vs. n = 197）. The rate of patients dying with a DNR order increased significantly （57.1% vs. 68.5%; P = 0.02）. Only 4% of patients in both periods were aware of the decision taken about cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Patients in Group A received the DNR order one day earlier, and 24.5% received it within the first 24 h of admission （vs. 2.6% in the first period; P 〈 0.001）. All patients in Group A with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator （ICD） had shock therapies deactivated （vs. 25.0% in the first period; P = 0.02）. Conclusions The introduction of a DNR order protocol may improve end-of-life care in cardiac patients by increasing the use and shortening the time of registration of DNR orders. It may also contribute to increase ICD deactivation in patients with these orders in place. however, the introduction of the sheet in late stages of the disease failed to improve patient participation.

Novel approaches for high contrast, deep tissue, in vivo fluorescence biomedical imaging are based on infrared-emitting nanoparticles working in the so-called second biological window （1,000-1,400 nm）. This allows for the acquisition of high resolution, deep tissue images due to the partial transparency of tissues in this particular spectral range. In addition, the optical excitation with low energy （infrared） photons also leads to a drastic reduction in the contribution of autofluorescence to the in vivo image. Nevertheless, as is demonstrated here, working solely in this biological window does not ensure a complete removal of autofluorescence as the specimens diet shows a remarkable infrared fluorescence that extends up to 1,100 nm. In this work, we show how the 1,340 nm emission band of Nd3. ions embedded in SrF2 nanoparticles can be used to produce autofluorescence free, high contrast in vivo fluorescence images. It is also dem- onstrated that the complete removal of the food-related infrared autofluorescence is imperative for the development of reliable biodistribution studies.

here is introduced some novel algorithms which made use of polygarnma functions to get the exact limits of a broad class of infinite series. moreover, Laplace transform is used to find the sum of many convergent infinite series. These exact limits are found in different branches of physics for some special cases series and are in complete agreement with the values found by other authors. moreover, the methods presented here are generalized and applied to other wide variety of sums, including alternating series. Finally, these methods are simple and quite powerful to calculate the limits of many convergent series as you can see from the examples included.

RANS simulations of the U and V grooves effect in the subcritical flow over four rotated circular cylinders

This paper presents a CFD study about the effect of the V and U grooves in the flow over four cylinders in diamond shape configuration at subcritical flow conditions（Re= 41 000）. The k- ε Realizable turbulence model was implemented to fully structured hexahedral grids with near-wall refinements. Results showed that the numerical model was able to reproduce the impinging flow pattern and the repulsive forces present in the lateral cylinders of the smooth cylinder array. As a consequence of the flow alignment induced by the grooves, a jet-flow is formed between the lateral cylinders, which could cause an important vortex induced vibration effect especially in the rear cylinder. The magnitudes of the shear stresses at the valleys and peaks for the V grooved cylinders were lower than those of the U grooved cylinders, but the separation points were delayed due the U grooves presence. It is discussed the presence of a blowing effect caused by counter-rotating eddies located near the grooves peaks that cause a decrease of the shear stresses in the valleys, and promote them at the peaks.

In the present experimental investigation,Al–3 wt%Cu and Al–3 wt%Cu–0.5 wt%mg alloys castings are produced by a horizontal solidification technique with a view to examining the interrelationship among growth rate(GR),cooling rate(CR),secondary dendrite arm spacing(λ2),Vickers microhardness(hV),and corrosion behavior in a 0.5 m NaCl *** intermetallic phases of the as-solidified microstructures,that is,h-Al2Cu,S–Al2Cumg,and x-Al7Cu2 Fe,are subjected to a comprehensive characterization by using calculations provided by computational thermodynamics software,optical microscopy,and scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive ***,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization tests have been applied to analyze the corrosion performance of samples of both alloys ***–Petch-type equations are proposed to represent the hV dependence onλ*** is shown that the addition of mg to the Al–Cu alloy has led to a considerable increase in hV;however,the Al–Cu binary alloy is shown to have lower corrosion current density(icorr)as well as higher polarization resistance as compared to the corresponding results of the Al–Cu–mg ternary alloy.

A Portable Algorithm to Retrieve Bottom Depth of Optically Shallow Waters from Top-Of-Atmosphere measurements

Bottom depth(h)of optically shallow waters can be retrieved from multiband imagery,where remote sensing reflectance(R_(rs))are commonly used as the *** of the difficulties of removing the atmospheric effects in coastal areas,quite often,there are no valid R_(rs) from satellites for the retrieval of *** importantly,the empirical algorithms for h are hardly portable to new *** this study,using data from Landsat-8 and ICESat-2 as examples,we present an approach to retrieve h directly from the top-of-atmosphere(TOA)*** not only bypasses the requirement to correct the effects of aerosols but also shows promising portability to areas not included in algorithm ***,we use Rayleigh-corrected TOA reflectance(ρ_(rc))in the 443–2300nm range as input,along with a multilayer perceptron(mLP^(ρ_(rc))_(h)),for the retrieval of *** than 78,000 matchup points ofρ_(rc)and h(0–25 m)were used to train mLP^(ρ_(rc))_(h),which resulted in a mean Absolute Percentage Difference(mARD)of 8.8%and a coefficient of determination(R^(2))of *** mLP^(ρ_(rc))_(h)was further applied to Landsat-8 data of six regions not included in the training phase,generating mARD and R^(2)values of 8.3%and 0.98,*** contrast,a conventional two-band ratio algorithm with R_(rs) as the input generated mARD and R^(2)values of 31.6%and 0.68 and significantly fewer h retrievals due to failures in atmospheric *** results indicate a breakthrough of algorithm portability of mLP^(ρ_(rc))_(h)in sensing h of optically shallow waters.

Intercropping effect on root growth and nitrogen uptake at different nitrogen levels

AIm: To investigate age, sex, histopathology and helicobacter pylori (h. pylori) status, as risk factors for gastroduodenal disease outcome in Brazilian dyspeptic *** submitted to upper gastroscopy at hospital das Clinicas of marilia, antral biopsy specimens were obtained and subjected to histopathology and h. pylori diagnosis. All patients presenting chronic gastritis (CG) and peptic ulcer (PU) disease localized in the stomach, gastric ulcer (GU) and/or duodenal ulcer (DU) were included in the study. Gastric biopsies (n = 668) positive for h. pylori by rapid urease test were investigated for vacuolating cytotoxin A (vacA ) medium (m) region mosaicism by polymerase chain reaction. Logistic regression analysis was performed to verify the association of age, sex, histopathologic alterations, h. pylori diagnosis and vacA m region mosaicism with the incidence of DU, GU and CG in patients. RESULTS: Of 1466 patients submitted to endoscopy, 1060 (72.3%) presented CG [male/female = 506/554; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.2 ± 17.81], 88 (6.0%) presented DU [male/female = 54/34; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.4 ± 17.14], and 75 (5.1%) presented GU [male/female = 54/21; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.3 ± 17.12] and were included in the comparative analysis. Sex and age showed no detectable effect on CG incidence (overall c 2 = 2.1, P = 0.3423).
