Lavender and dodder combined herbal syrup versus citalopram in major depressive disorder with anxious distress: A double-blind randomized trial

Background: Major depressive disorder(MDD) accompanied by anxious distress is a chronic and disabling disorder. Its conventional drug therapies often have low patient compliance due to drug-related side effects. In Persian medicine, lavender-dodder syrup is one formula often recommended for such ***: This study compares the effects of lavender-dodder syrup to the standard drug, citalopram, for treating MDD with anxious ***, setting, participants and intervention: This six-week, double-blind, randomized, clinical trial was carried out in a psychiatric outpatient clinic. During the six-week intervention period, patients in citalopram group received citalopram tablets 20 mg/d plus 5 mL placebo syrup every 12 h;patients in group B received placebo tablets once daily plus 5 mL of lavender-dodder herbal syrup every 12 *** outcome measures: Primary outcome measures, depression and anxiety, were evaluated using the hamilton Depression/Anxiety Rating Scales, and were scored at the beginning of the study and at weeks three and six. Secondary outcome measures including response to treatment and remission rates were also compared between the two ***: Fifty-six participants with MDD and anxious distress were randomly assigned to two *** depression scores significantly decreased in citalopram and herbal groups at weeks three and six(time effect: P hough the observed changes were not significantly different between the groups(intervention effect: P = 0.61). Mean anxiety scores were not significantly different between the two groups at week three(P = 0.75). however, at the end of week six, the observed decrease was significantly higher in the herbal syrup group than the citalopram group(intervention effect: P = 0.007).Conclusion: The herbal syrup is an effective and tolerable supplement for treating MDD with anxious *** registration number: IRCT2016102430459 N1 on Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials.

This paper proposes a novel method to design an h∞-optimal Fractional Order PID(FOPID)controller with ability to control the transient,steady-state response and stability margins *** method uses particle swarm optimiza-tion algorithm and operates based on minimizing a general cost *** of the cost function is carried out sub-ject to the h∞-norm;this norm is also included in the cost function to achieve its lower *** method is applied to a phase-locked-loop motor speed system and an electromagnetic suspension system as two examples to illustrate the design procedure and verify performance of the proposed *** results show that the proposed method is capable of im-proving system responses as compared to the conventional h∞-optimal controller while still maintains the h∞-optimality of the solutions.

Etch characteristics of Si_(1-x)Ge_x films in hNO_3:h_2O:hF

The etch characteristics of Si_1-xGex films in hNO3:h2O:hF were examined. The etch rate ratio (etch selectivity) between Si_1-xGex and Si escalated with the growth of hNO3 concentration at low concentration level, and when the hNO3 concentration exceeded a critical level the etch selectivity descended with higher hNO3 concentration. The dependence of etch selectivity on the hNO3 concentration was due to the higher critical hNO3 concentration for etching Si than that for etching Si1-xGex. Since the Ge-Ge bond energy was weaker than that of Si-Si and Si-Ge, the Ge atoms were oxidized preferentially once the hNO3 composition exceeded the critical concentration of etching Si1-xGex,which was manifested by the XPS spectra of Si1-xGex etched in hNO3:h2O:hF. When the hNO3 volume rose to another critical value, the significant growth of the Si etch rate low-ered the etch selectivity. Although both the etch rates of Si1-xGex and Si dropped with lower hF concentration, the etch rate ra-tio of Si1-xGex to Si boosted remarkably due to the water-soluble characteristics of GeO2.

Shallow landslide susceptibility assessment under future climate and land cover changes: A case study from southwest China

There is no doubt that land cover and climate changes have consequences on landslide activity,but it is still an open issue to assess and quantify their *** County in southwest China was selected as the test area to study rainfall-induced shallow landslide susceptibility under the future changes of land use and land cover(LULC)and *** used a high-resolution meteorological precipitation dataset and frequency distribution model to analyse the present extreme and antecedent rainfall conditions related to landslide *** future climate change factors were obtained from a 4-member multimodel ensemble that was derived from statistically downscaled regional climate *** future LULC maps were simulated by the land change modeller(LCM)integrated into IDRISI Selva software.A total of six scenarios were defined by considering the rainfall(antecedent conditions and extreme events)and LULC changes towards two time periods(mid and late XXI century).A physically-based model was used to assess landslide susceptibility under these different *** results showed that the magnitude of both antecedent effective recharge and event rainfall in the region will evidently increase in the *** the scenario with a return period of 100 years,the antecedent rainfall in summer will increase by up to 63%whereas the event rainfall will increase by up to 54%for the late 21st *** most considerable changes of LULC will be the increase of forest cover and the decrease of farming *** magnitude of this change can reach+22.1%(forest)and–9.2%(farmland)from 2010 until 2100,*** found that the negative impact of climate change on landslide susceptibility is greater than the stabilizing effect of LULC change,leading to an over decrease in stability over the study *** is one of the first studies across Asia to assess and quantify changes of regional landslide susceptibility under scenarios driven by LULC and climate ***

In this paper, we introduce and study a new system of generalized vari- ational inclusions involving h-η-monotone operators in uniformly smooth Banach spaces. Using the resolvent operator technique associated with h-η-monotone opera- tors, we prove the approximation solvability of solutions using an iterative algorithm. The results in this paper extend and improve some known results from the literature.

Aryl diketo acid derivatives are one of the most promising hIV-1 integrase（IN） inhibitors. With a view to substitute the critical diketo acid pharmacophore with the diketo benzimidazole unit, the coupling reaction of compound 4 with o-phenylenediamine was carried out. however, the reaction product, compound 5, was confirmed to be 3-{ [ 3- （phenylsulfonamido） benzoyl] methylidene t -3,4-dihydroquinoxaline-2 （1h） -one rather than the 2-benzimidazole derivative by using X-ray diffraction. Owing to its low solubility in water, the evaluation of the anti-hIV IN activity of the synthesized compound 5 could not be carried out. Consequently, the ion-binding properties of compound 5 in the absence of hIV-1 IN were investigated with UV-Vis spectroscopy in organic solvents. The results show that such a compound can selectively recognize Cu^2＋.

It belongs to orthorhombic, space group Pna21 with a = 8.0790（18）, b = 16.780（4）, c = 15.222（3） .A, Z= 4, V= 2063.6（8） A3 Dc = 1.250 g/cm^3,μ = 0.090 mm^-1, F（000） = 832, R = 0.0474 and wR = 0.1103. According to structural analysis, the title compound possesses a boat-like configuration.
