A new online scheduling algorithm is proposed for photovoltaic(PV)systems with battery-assisted energy storage systems(BESS).The stochastic nature of renewable energy sources necessitates the employment of BESS to balance energy supplies and demands under uncertain weather *** proposed online scheduling algorithm aims at minimizing the overall energy cost by performing actions such as load shifting and peak shaving through carefully scheduled BESS charging/discharging *** scheduling algorithm is developed by using deep deterministic policy gradient(DDPG),a deep reinforcement learning(DrL)algorithm that can deal with continuous state and action *** of the main contributions of this work is a new DDPG reward function,which is designed based on the unique behaviors of energy *** new reward function can guide the scheduler to learn the appropriate behaviors of load shifting and peak shaving through a balanced process of exploration and *** new scheduling algorithm is tested through case studies using real world data,and the results indicate that it outperforms existing algorithms such as Deep *** online algorithm can efficiently learn the behaviors of optimum non-casual off-line algorithms.

A Novel Fall Detection Framework Using Skip-DSCGAN Based on Inertial Sensor Data

With the widespread use of Internet of Things(IoT)technology in daily life and the considerable safety risks of falls for elderly individuals,research on IoT-based fall detection systems has gainedmuch *** paper proposes an IoT-based spatiotemporal data processing framework based on a depthwise separable convolution generative adversarial network using skip-connection(Skip-DSCGAN)for fall *** method uses spatiotemporal data from accelerometers and gyroscopes in inertial sensors as input data.A semisupervised learning approach is adopted to train the model using only activities of daily living(ADL)data,which can avoid data imbalance ***,a quantile-based approach is employed to determine the fall threshold,which makes the fall detection frameworkmore *** proposed fall detection framework is evaluated against four other generative adversarial network(GAN)models with superior anomaly detection performance using two fall public datasets(SisFall&MobiAct).The test results show that the proposed method achieves better results,reaching 96.93% and 92.75% accuracy on the above two test datasets,*** the same time,the proposed method also achieves satisfactory results in terms ofmodel size and inference delay time,making it suitable for deployment on wearable devices with limited *** addition,this paper also compares GAN-based semisupervised learning methods with supervised learning methods commonly used in fall *** clarifies the advantages of GAN-based semisupervised learning methods in fall detection.

Direct shear tests were conducted on sandstone specimens under different constant normal stresses to study the coalescence of cracks between non-persistent flaws and the shear sliding characteristics of the shear-formed *** image correlation and acoustic emission(AE)techniques were used to monitor the evolution of shear bands at the rock bridge area and microcracking *** experimental results revealed that the shear stresses corresponding to the peak and sub-peak in the stressdisplacement curve are significantly affected by the normal *** localization bands emerged at both the tip of joints and the rock bridge,and their extension and interaction near the peak stress caused a surge in the AE hit rate and a significant decrease in the AE b *** and curvilinear strain bands were detected at low normal stress,while high normal stress generally led to more microcracking events and longer coplanar cracks at the rock bridge ***,an increase in normal stress resulted in a higher AE count rate and more energetic AE events during friction sliding along the shearformed *** was observed that the elastic energy released during the crack coalescence at the prepeak stage was much greater than that released during friction sliding at the post-peak *** than 75%of AE events were located in the low-frequency band(0e100 khz),and this proportion continued to rise with increasing normal ***,more AE events of low AF value and high rA value were observed in specimens subjected to high normal stress,indicating that greater normal stress led to more microcracks of shear nature.
