Tracking the Ti^(4+)substitution in phlogopite by spectroscopic imaging:A tool for unravelling the growth of micas at hP-hT conditions

Phlogopite solid-solutions have a wide pressure-temperature(P-T)stability field and are ubiquitous in a wide variety of geological settings,from deep lithosphere magmatic environments to upper crust metamorphic *** composition represents therefore a valuable physical-chemical archive and may provide important information regarding its crystallization and the petrogenesis of the *** this paper we examine the phlogopite phenocrysts from the well-known Fort Regent mica-bearing lamprophyre minette from ***(Island of Jersey,UK).Phlogopite phenocrystals from lamprophyres generally show normal-step and continuous compositional zoning,however those from the Fort Regent minette show a peculiar texture characterized by dark brown high-Ti(average TiO_(2)≈8.5 wt.%)cores enveloped by euhedral low-to mid-amplitude zonation due to oscillatory contents in Ti,Fe and ***-barometry modelling based on biotite-only composition yields relatively high P-T estimates(T≈970±54℃at P≈0.73±0.13 GPa)for cores whereas lower values(T≈790±54℃at P≈0.29±0.13 GPa)are obtained for the outer *** temperatures(T≈1075±54℃)but extremely high and anomalous pressure values(P≈1.82±0.13 GPa)are obtained for the yellowish inner *** combination of electron micro probe(EMP)analysis and single-crystal infra-red(FTIR)imaging in the Oh-stretching region shows that the exceptional and oscillatory Ti contents are due to the Ti-vacancy substitution,typical of crystallization and growth processes of hP/hT *** imaging provides additional insight for this process,confirming the dominant dioctahedral nature for the Ti-Fe-rich cores and outer *** of thermobaric estimates obtained from the phlogopite compositiononly model,based on the fine-scale compositional evolution,shows that pressure-temperature values from low-Ti high-Mg domains should be carefully evaluated because the substitution mechanisms during the dark mica growth are not univocal

Polyelectrolyte Complexes between hyperbranched and linear Polysaccharides: Fucoidan/Chitosan

Polyelectrolyte complexes(PECs)of hyperbranched(hB)and linear polysaccharides are promising as more effective encapsulation agents compared to PECs formed by linear *** investigated the PECs between the hB anionic polysaccharide fucoidan(FUC)and the cationic linear polysaccharide chitosan(CS).The FUC had a molecular weight(MW)of 30×*** PECs were prepared in three solvents(water,0.01 and 0.1 mol/l acetic acid)with CS of MW of 15,110 and 170 kDa,and deacetylation degrees(DDA)of 70%and 97%.The structures of the PECs and the initial FUC were investigated by multi-angle static and dynamic light *** the FUC contained 18 wt%of—OSO3 groups and 5 wt%of uronic acid units,it was a“strong-weak”copolyanion,so the hB macromolecules of the FUC formed nanogel particles in 0.1 mol/l AcOh and open branched structures in water,as confirmed by the Kratky *** mixing the solutions of original components,the PEC structures underwent an equilibration period,the duration of which increased with the MW of *** the charge stoichiometry was approached,the PECs shrank;the fractal dimension approached unity,indicating the side-by-side packing of adjacent FUC branches with the help of *** aggregation in the vicinity of the charge compensation was hardly observed,as it occurred in a very narrow *** PEC content at theζ-potential inversion depended on solvents’ph and the DDA of *** the extreme case of core-shell PECs in 0.1 mol/l AcOh,obtained by mixing FUC nanogels with the solutions of high MW CS of 97%DDA,the protruding tails of CS formed a positively charged shell in the whole range of FUC content(10 wt%nning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy images of dried samples were discussed in relation to the light scattering results.

Star-forming processes strongly influence the ISM ***,many high-quality databases are available at millimeter *** them,it is possible to carry out studies that review and deepen previous *** these studies involve large samples of sources,it is preferred to use direct tools to study the molecular *** the aim of testing these tools such as the use of the hCn/hnC ratio as a thermometer,and the use of h^(13)CO^(+),hC_(3)n,n_(2)h^(+) and C_(2)h as "chemical clocks," we present a molecular line study toward 55 sources representing massive young stellar objects at different evolutionary stages:infrared dark clouds(IRDCs),highmass protostellar objects(hMPOs),hot molecular cores(hMCs) and ultracompact h II *** found that the use of the hCn/hnC ratio as a universal thermometer in the ISM should be taken with care because the hCn optical depth is a big issue that can affect the ***,this tool should be utilized only after a careful analysis of the hCn spectrum,checking that no line,neither the main nor the hyperfine ones,presents absorption *** point out that the analysis of the emission of h^(13)CO^(+),hC_(3)n,n_(2)h^(+) and C_(2)h could be useful to trace and distinguish regions among IRDCs,hMPOs and *** molecular line widths of these four species increase from the IRDC to the hMC stage,which can be a consequence of the gas dynamics related to the starforming processes taking place in the molecular *** results not only contribute with more statistics,acting as a probe of such chemical tools,useful to obtain information in large samples of sources,but also complement previous works through the analysis of other types of sources.

In this study,we investigate the novel phenomenon of gravitational lensing experienced by gravitational waves traveling past a Schwarzschild black hole perturbed by a specific,first-order,polar gravitational *** apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem,finding a topological contribution to the deflection of light rays passing near the black *** demonstrate that the deflection angle can be determined by analyzing a region entirely outside the path of the light ray,leading to a calculation based solely on the parameters of the perturbing wave(legendre polynomial order,l;frequency,σ).This approach offers a unique perspective on gravitational lensing and expands our understanding of black hole interactions with gravitational waves.

Improving the utility of locally differentially private protocols for longitudinal and multidimensional frequency estimates

This paper investigates the problem of collecting multidimensional data throughout time(i.e.,longitudinal studies)for the fundamental task of frequency estimation under local Differential Privacy(lDP)*** to frequency estimation of a single attribute,the multidimensional aspect demands particular attention to the privacy ***,when collecting user statistics longitudinally,privacy progressively ***,the“multiple”settings in combination(i.e.,many attributes and several collections throughout time)impose several challenges,for which this paper proposes the first solution for frequency estimates under *** tackle these issues,we extend the analysis of three state-of-the-art lDP protocols(Generalized Randomized Response–GRR,Optimized Unary Encoding–OUE,and Symmetric Unary Encoding–SUE)for both longitudinal and multidimensional data *** the known literature uses OUE and SUE for two rounds of sanitization(***),i.e.,l-OUE and l-SUE,respectively,we analytically and experimentally show that starting with OUE and then with SUE provides higher data utility(i.e.,l-OSUE).Also,for attributes with small domain sizes,we propose longitudinal GRR(l-GRR),which provides higher utility than the other protocols based on unary ***,we also propose a new solution named Adaptive lDP for lOngitudinal and Multidimensional FREquency Estimates(AllOMFREE),which randomly samples a single attribute to be sent with the whole privacy budget and adaptively selects the optimal protocol,i.e.,either l-GRR or *** shown in the results,AllOMFREE consistently and considerably outperforms the state-of-the-art l-SUE and l-OUE protocols in the quality of the frequency estimates.

Water stress is a critical environmental adversity that significantly impacts the growth,development,and yield of flax *** this study,flax seeds were cultivated under different water irrigation requirements(WIR)(100%,75%,and 50%)to investigate the effects of exogenously supplied nitric oxide(nO)donor sodium nitroprusside(SnP)as foliar treatments at concentrations of 0.0 mmol/l,0.5 mmol/l,1.0 mmol/l,and 2.0 mmol/*** stress led to a significant decrease in plant growth,photosynthetic pigments,yield components such as oil and total carbohydrate *** also resulted in an increase in leaf h2O2 production,lipid peroxidation levels and activities of enzymatic antioxidants including polyph.n.l.oxidase,superoxide dismutase,and nitrate reductase ***,foliar application of SnP improved photosynthetic pigments and antioxidant defense system which mitigated the negative impact of water stress on growth and yield productivity by reducing oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species *** use of SnP also decreased h_(2)O_(2) accumulation levels,lipid peroxidation levels,and improved membrane *** treatment at concentration of 2 mmol/l showed superior results compared to other concentrations with extremely significant increases observed in yield characteristics such as oil content,total carbohydrate percentages,and unsaturated fatty acids to saturated fatty acids ratio.

Thermo-and ph-sensitive Polymer with Pendant Spacer-linked Imidazole Cycles

By the reaction of poly(acryloyl chloride) with n-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole, poly(n-(3-(1h-imidazol-1-yl)propyl)acrylamide) was synthesized. The new polymer contains an imidazole ring removed from the main chain by a spacer of five bonds. The structure and purity, molecular weight, hydrodynamic and thermosensitive properties of the obtained sample were studied by1h-and13C-nMR, FTIR spectroscopy, acid-base titration, light scattering, turbidimetry and viscometry. The observed ability of the imidazole-containing polymer to form and destroy associates in water-salt solutions at ph 6.6-7.4 and temperatures of 29-48℃ indicates that these are promising candidates for designing complex biomedical systems. The new polymer is able to form complexes with oligo-DnA more actively than poly(1-vinylimidazole), which is of interest for gene delivery applications. The polymer cross-linked with epichlorohydrin gives micro-relief coatings on the plastic surface, and the modified surface is able to attach negatively charged objects. This thermo-and ph-sensitive polymer modification can be applied to create finely controlled surfaces for cell culturing.
