Assessment of plant diversity of endemic species of the Saharo-Arabian region in Egypt

Savanna, semi-deserts, and hot deserts characterize the Saharo-Arabian region, which includes morocco, mauretania, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, southern Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and northern India. Its neighboring regions, the Sudano-Zambezian region belonging to the Paleotropical Kingdom and the mediterranean and Irano-Turanian regions included in the holarctic Kingdom, share a large portion of their flora with the Saharo-Arabian region. Despite the widespread acknowledgment of the region's global importance for plant diversity, an up to date list of the Saharo-Arabian endemics is still unavailable. The available data are frequently insufficient or out of date at both the whole global and the national scales. Therefore, the present study aims at screening and verifying the Saharo-Arabian endemic plants and determining the phytogeographical distribution of these taxa in the Egyptian flora. hence, a preliminary list of 429 Saharo-Arabian endemic plants in Egypt was compiled from the available literature. Indeed, by excluding the species that were recorded in any countries or regions outside the Saharo-Arabian region based on different literature, database reviews, and websites, the present study has reduced this number to 126 taxa belonging to 87 genera and 37 families. Regarding the national geographic distribution, South Sinai is the richest region with 83 endemic species compared with other eight phytogeographic regions in Egypt, followed by the Isthmic Desert(the middle of Sinai Peninsula, 53 taxa). Sahara regional subzone(SS1) distributes all the 126 endemic species, Arabian regional subzone(SS2) owns 79 taxa, and Nubo-Sindian subzone(SS3) distributes only 14 endemics. Asynchronous gain-scheduled control of deepwater drilling riser system with hybrid event-triggered sampling and unreliable communication

This paper investigates the recoil control of the deepwater drilling riser system with nonlinear tension force and energy-bounded friction force under the circumstances of limited network resources and unreliable *** from the existing linearization modeling method,a triangle-based polytope modeling method is applied to the nonlinear riser *** on the polytope model,to improve resource utilization and accommodate random data loss and communication delay,an asynchronous gain-scheduled control strategy under a hybrid event-triggered scheme is *** asynchronous linear parameter-varying system that blends input delay and impulsive update equation is presented to model the nonlinear networked recoil control system,where the asynchronous deviation bounds of scheduling parameters are *** to the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method,some solvable conditions of disturbance attenuation analysis and recoil control design are derived such that the resulting networked system is exponentially mean-square stable with prescribed h∞*** obtained numerical results verified that the proposed nonlinear networked control method can achieve a better recoil response of the riser system with less transmission data compared with the linear control method.

Phosphorylation Promotes the Accumulation of PERIOD Protein Foci

Circadian clock drives the 24-h rhythm in our behavior and *** molecular clock consists of a series of transcriptional/translational feedback loops operated by a number of clock genes.A very recent study reported that the clock protein PERIOD(PER)is organized into discrete foci at the nuclear envelope in fly circadian neurons,which is believed to be important for controlling the subcellular localization of clock *** of inner nuclear membrane protein lamin B receptor(LBR)leads to disruption of these foci,but how they are regulated is yet ***,we found that PER foci are likely phase-separated condensates,the formation of which is mediated by intrinsically disordered region in *** promotes the accumulation of these *** phosphatase 2A,which is known to dephosphorylate PER,hampers the accumulation of the *** the other hand,the circadian kinase DOUBLETImE(DBT)which phosphorylates PER enhances the accumulation of the *** likely facilitates PER foci accumulation by destabilizing the catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 2A,mICROTUBULE STAR(mTS).In conclusion,here,we demonstrate a key role for phosphorylation in promoting the accumulation of PER foci,while LBR modulates this process by impinging on the circadian phosphatase mTS.

Solar evaporation for simultaneous oil-water separation and electricity generation with Janus wood-based absorbers

Oily wastewater from ocean oil spills endangers marine ecosystems and human health. Therefore, developing an effective and sustainable solution for separating oil-water mixtures is urgent. Interfacial solar photothermal evaporation is a promising approach for the complete separation of two-phase mixtures using only solar energy. herein, we report a carbonized wood-based absorber with Janus structure of comprising a hydrophobic top-layer and an oleophobic bottom-layer for simultaneous solar-driven oil-water separation and electricity generation. Under sunlight irradiation, the rapid evaporation of seawater will induce a separation of oil-water mixtures, and cause a high salt concentration region underlying the interface, while the bottom “bulk water” maintains in a low salt concentration, thus forming a salinity gradient. Electricity can be generated by salinity gradient power. Therefore, oil-water separation efficiency of > 99% and derived extra electricity power of ~0.1 W/m2 is achieved under solar radiation, demonstrating the feasibility of oil-water separation and electricity production synchronously directly using solar energy. This work provides a green and cost-effective path for the separation of oil-water mixtures.

FSCIL-EACA: Few-Shot Class-Incremental Learning Network Based on Embedding Augmentation and Classifier Adaptation for Image Classification

The ability to learn incrementally is critical to the long-term operation of AI systems. Benefiting from the power of few-shot class-incremental learning(FSCIL), deep learning models can continuously recognize new classes with only a few samples. The difficulty is that limited instances of new classes will lead to overfitting and exacerbate the catastrophic forgetting of the old classes. most previous works alleviate the above problems by imposing strong constraints on the model structure or parameters, but ignoring embedding network transferability and classifier adaptation(CA), failing to guarantee the efficient utilization of visual features and establishing relationships between old and new classes. In this paper, we propose a simple and novel approach from two perspectives: embedding bias and classifier bias. The method learns an embedding augmented(EA) network with cross-class transfer and class-specific discriminative abilities based on self-supervised learning and modulated attention to alleviate embedding bias. Based on the adaptive incremental classifier learning scheme to realize incremental learning capability,guiding the adaptive update of prototypes and feature embeddings to alleviate classifier bias. We conduct extensive experiments on two popular natural image datasets and two medical datasets. The experiments show that our method is significantly better than the baseline and achieves state-of-the-art results.

Improving the spaceborne GNSS-R altimetric precision based on the novel multilayer feedforward neural network weighted joint prediction model

Global navigation satellite system-reflection(GNSS-R)sea surface altimetry based on satellite constellation platforms has become a new research direction and inevitable trend,which can meet the altimetric precision at the global scale required for underwater *** present,there are still research gaps for GNSS-R altimetry under this mode,and its altimetric capability cannot be specifically ***,GNSS-R satellite constellations that meet the global altimetry needs to be ***,the matching precision prediction model needs to be established to quantitatively predict the GNSS-R constellation altimetric ***,the GNSS-R constellations altimetric precision under different configuration parameters is calculated,and the mechanism of the influence of orbital altitude,orbital inclination,number of satellites and simulation period on the precision is analyzed,and a new multilayer feedforward neural network weighted joint prediction model is ***,the fit of the prediction model is verified and the performance capability of the model is tested by calculating the R2 value of the model as 0.9972 and the root mean square error(RmSE)as 0.0022,which indicates that the prediction capability of the model is ***,using the novel multilayer feedforward neural network weighted joint prediction model,and considering the research results and realistic costs,it is proposed that when the constellation is set to an orbital altitude of 500 km,orbital inclination of 75and the number of satellites is 6,the altimetry precision can reach 0.0732 m within one year simulation period,which can meet the requirements of underwater navigation precision,and thus can provide a reference basis for subsequent research on spaceborne GNSS-R sea surface altimetry.

Combination of diketone and PAO to achieve macroscale oil-based superlubricity at relative high contact pressures

1-(4-ethylphenyl)-nonane-1,3-dione(0206)is an oil-soluble liquid molecule with rod-like *** this study,the chelate(0206-Fe)with octahedral structure was prepared by the reaction of ferric chloride and 1,*** experimental results show that when using 0206 and a mixed solution containing 60%0206-Fe and 40%0206(0206-Fe(60%))as lubricants of the steel friction pairs,superlubricity can be achieved(0.007,0.006).But their wear scar diameters(WSD)were very large(532µm,370µm),which resulted in the pressure of only 44.3 and 61.8 mPa in the contact areas of the friction *** 0206-Fe(60%)was mixed with PAO6,it was found that the friction coefficient(COF)decreased with increase of 0206-Fe(60%)in the *** the ratio of 0206-Fe(60%)to PAO6 was 8:2(PAO6(20%)),it exhibited better comprehensive tribological properties(232.3 mPa).Subsequent studies have shown that reducing the viscosity of the base oil in the mixed solution helped to reduce COF and increased *** the COF,contact pressure,and running-in time,it was found that the mixed lubricant(Oil3(20%))prepared by the base oil with a viscosity of 19.7 mPa·s(Oil3)and 0206-Fe(60%)exhibited the best tribological properties(0.007,161.4 mPa,3,100 s).
