There is currently a dearth of research investigating the progression and rate of decomposition for juvenile *** is thought that juveniles and infants decompose at an increased rate relative to adults due simply to body mass and that skeletal preservation is commonly dependent on intrinsic levels of bone mineral density(BMD).This study investigates the environmental variables important in driving juvenile decomposition as well as examining if currently accepted methodology for quantifying adult decomposition can be applied to juvenile ***,histological analysis is undertaken to test the histological Index(hI)as a semi-quantitative indicator of ***-five Sus scrofa ranging between 1.8 and 22.7 kg were deposited to simulate body mass of human infant and juvenile *** were deposited every season over two years in the southeastern US with five depositional types:bagged,blanket wrapped,and surface control foetal remains,surface,and buried juvenile *** were scored quantitatively throughout soft tissue *** study completion and skeletonization,a femur was selected from each set of remains for histological *** sections were assessed under standard brightfield light and scored using Oxford histological Index(OhI).Results indicate that seasonal variation is an important factor to consider even when using a standardized time variable such as accumulated degree days(ADD),particularly variation in soil *** moisture was a consistent significant variable in the mixed effects *** pattern of decomposition using total body score(TBS)was similar to that observed by others prior to log transformation with a rapid incline early in decomposition with levelling *** correlation between time in days,ADD,and TBS was not as strong as those previously reported(R^(2)=0.317 and 0.499,respectively)suggesting that TBS as it is currently formulated cannot be directly applied to juvenile remai

Objective:Penile cancer(PeCa)is a rare disease with a global incidence of 36068 new cases in *** accounts for 0.4%of all male *** surgical management of PeCa depends on the location of the tumour and depth of ***,we review the oncological and functional outcomes of penile-preserving surgery(PPS).Methods:A PubMed search until July 2021 on PPS for PeCa was conducted;a narrative review on different penile-sparing approaches and outcomes was ***:PPS is now the standard of care in specialist centres for distal tumours not involving the corpus *** therapy,glans resurfacing,and wide local excision are options for superficial lesions,whilst glansectomy is required for lesions invading into the corpus ***:PPS aims to preserve urinary and sexual function without compromising oncological outcomes.

A 3-D velocity measurement was carried out via LDV for vortex breakdown of swirling flow in a closed cylindrical container with a rotating disk. The experimental results of swirling flow at Ar=1.78 and Re=648-2527 are presented. At the axis, the axial velocity variation with Re describes the formation, development and disappearance of the vortex breakdown, which agrees with Escudiers's conclusion. In the meridional plane, the velocity vectors show that the bubble type vortex breakdown region is a closed and low velocity circulating flow, which is fully isolated from the main flow thrown out by the rotating disk. For the peripheral velocity in the central region of the container, the maximum does not appear near the rotating top disk but near the stationary bottom disk and it varies sharply there. Numerical simulation results under the same conditions are also given in this paper.

AIM： To distinguish anastomotic from parenchymal leakage at duct-to-mucosa reconstruction of the pancreatic remnant. METhODS： We reviewed the charts of 68 pancreaticoduodenectomies performed between 5/2000 and 12/2005 with end-to-side duct-to-mucosa pancreatojejunostomy （PJ）. The results of pancreatography, as well as peripancreatic drain volumes, and amylase levels were analyzed. RESULTS： Of 68 pancreatojejunostomies, 48 had no leak by pancreatography and had low-drain amylase （normal）; eight had no pancreatographic leak but had elevated drain amylase （parenchymal leak）; and 12 had pancreatographic leak and elevated drain amylase （anastomotic leak）. Although drain volumes in the parenchymal leak group were significantly elevated at postoperative day （POD） 4, no difference was found at POD 7. Drain amylase level was not significantly different at POD 4. In contrast, at POD 7, the anastomotic-leak group had significantly elevated drain amylase level compared with normal and parenchymalleak groups （14158 ＋ 24083 IU/L vs 89 ＋ 139 IU/L and 1707 ＋ 1515 IU/L, respectively, P = 0.012）. CONCLUSION： For pancreatic remnant reconstruction after pancreaticoduodenectomy, a combination of pancreatogram and peripancreatic drain amylase levels can be used to distinguish between parenchymal and anastomotic leakage at pancreatic remnant reconstruction.

Corrosion and cavitation erosion resistance enhancement of cast Ni–Al bronze by laser surface melting

Laser surface melting (LSM) was applied on a cast Ni–Al bronze (NAB), which was a crucial material for marine ship propellers. A 720 μm-thick LSM layer with fine equiaxed and dendritic microstructures was obtained. After immersion for 30 days, the corrosion rate of cast NAB was reduced by 25% after LSM. Preferential corrosion occurred and deep corrosion pits appeared at α + κIII microstructure for the cast NAB. LSM NAB underwent general corrosion, and a much more protective film formed on the surface because of the homogenized microstructure. The mass loss of the cast NAB was approximately 2.1 times larger than that of LSM NAB after cavitation erosion (CE) in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution for 5 h. For the two materials, the mechanical impact effect was dominantly responsible for CE damage. Therefore, the improved hardness and homogenized microstructure contributed to the improved CE resistance of LSM NAB. CE destructed the film, shifted the open circuit potential toward a more negative value, and raised the current density by an order of magnitude. Corrosion at the cast eutectoid microstructure and the dendrites of LSM NAB facilitates the degradation under the cavitation attack. CE-corrosion synergy was largely caused by corrosion-enhanced-CE.
