Ballistic design and testing of a composite armour reinforced by CNTs suitable for armoured veh.cles

Th.s paper is investigating th. use of composite armour reinforced by nanomaterials, for th. protection of ligh. armoured(LAV) and medium armoured military veh.cles(MAV), and th. interaction between th. composite materials and h.gh.performance ballistic projectiles. Four armour materials, consisted of front h.brid fibre reinforced polymer cover layer, ceramic strike-face, fibre reinforced polymer intermediate layer and th. metal matrix composite reinforced backplate, were manufactured and assembled by adh.sive tech.ology. Th. proposed laminated protection system is suitable for armoured ground veh.cles;h.wever, it could be used as armour on ground, air and naval platforms. Th. design of th. protection system, including material selection and th.ckness, was elaborated depending on th. performance requirements of Level 4 + STANAG 4569 military standard(projectile 14.5 mm × 114 mm API B32) and especially on a design ph.losoph. wh.ch.is analysed with.th. specifications. Th. backplate of th.s new composite is a h.brid material of Metal Matrix Composite(MMC) reinforced with.carbon nanotubes(CNTs), manufactured with.th. use of powder metallurgy tech.ique. Th. composite backplate material was morph.logically, mech.nically and ch.mically analysed. Results sh.w th.t all plates are presenting h.gh.mech.nical properties and ballistic ch.racteristics, compared to commonly used armour plates. Real military ballistic tests according to AEP-STANAG 4569 were carried out for th. total composite armour systems. After th. ballistic tests, AA2024-CNT3 sh.wed th. best protection results, compared with.th. oth.r plates(AA2024-CNT1 and AA2024-CNT2), with.th. projectile being unable to fully penetrate th. composite plate.

An update on h.rmonal regulation of early embryo-fallopian tube interactions: insigh.s for improvements of assisted reproductive tech.ology outcomes

h.man fallopian tubes (FTs) play important roles in th. wh.le reproductive process. FTs are th. site for th. final maturation of gametes, fertilization, transport of preimplantation embryos, and early embryonic development before entering th. uterus. All th.se functions are critical in th. establish.ent of a successful pregnancy. Wh.n th. embryo is in transit th.ough.th. FT, th. FT microenvironment ch.nges th.ough.endocrine, paracrine, autocrine, and juxtacrine mech.nisms wh.ch.involve various h.rmones and bioactive substances mainly from th. neigh.oring cells. Th.refore, th. interactions between th. embryo and th. FT may be th. earliest embryo-maternal communications th.t are essential for th. establish.ent of pregnancy. Th.s review critically discusses th. evidence of various h.rmonal and bioactive mediated control of th. microenvironment in th. FTs during th. earliest embryo-maternal communications. Moreover, we h.gh.igh. existing gaps in th. knowledge and th. importance of exploring more of th. ph.siology of FTs wh.ch.will h.ld th. key to producing h.gh.quality embryos for patients seekingin vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.

Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

Free vibration and buckling analysis of polymeric composite beams reinforced by functionally graded bamboo fbers

Pasternak foundation with.th. FG-◇fiber ***,th. obtained analysis results of BFRC beams are also compared with.th.se for carbon nanotube reinforced composite(CNTRC)beams found in th. literature,indicating th.t th. buckling loads and natural frequencies of BFRC beams are lower th.n th.se of CNTRC beams.

Convexification of h.brid AC-DC Optimal Power Flow with.Line-Commutated Converters

Line-commutated converter (LCC)-based h.gh.voltage DC (h.DC) systems h.ve been integrated with.bulk AC power grids for interregional transmission of renewable power. Th. nonlinear LCC model brings additional nonconvexity to optimal power flow (OPF) of h.brid AC-DC power grids. A convexification meth.d for th. LCC station model could address such.nonconvexity but h.s rarely been discussed. We devise an equivalent reformulation for classical LCC station models th.t facilitates second-order cone convex relaxation for th. OPF of LCC-based AC-DC power grids. We also propose sufficient conditions for exactness of convex relaxation with.its proof. Equivalence of th. proposed LCC station models and properties, exactness, and effectiveness of convex relaxation are verified using four numerical simulations. Simulation results demonstrate a globally optimal solution of th. original OPF can be efficiently obtained from relaxed model.

Sh.ll-model representations of th. microscopic version of th. Boh.–Mottelson collective model

Th. structure of th. irreducible collective spaces of th. group Sp（12, R）, wh.ch.many-particle nuclear states are classified according to th. ch.in Sp（12, R） ? U（6） ? SO（6） ? SUpn（3） ■SO（2） ? SO（3） of th. proton–neutron symplectic model（PNSM）, is considered in detail. Th.s ch.in of th. PNSM was recently sh.wn to correspond to a microscopic sh.ll-model version of th. Boh.–Mottelson collective model. Th. construction of th. relevant sh.ll-model representations of th. Sp（12, R） group along th.s ch.in is considered for th.ee nuclei with.varying collective properties and from different mass regions. It is sh.wn th.t th. SUpn（3） basis states of th. Sp（12, R） representations belonging to th. SO（6） irreps with.seniority υ ≥ υ0, with.υ0denoting th. maximal seniority SO（6） irrep contained in th. Sp（12, R） bandh.ad, are always Pauli allowed, but organized in a different way into different SO（6） sh.lls. Th.s is in contrast to th. case of filling th. levels of th. standard th.ee-dimensional h.rmonic oscillator and using th. pleth.sm operation. Alth.ugh.th. SUpn（3） multiplets with.n υ h.m. Th. results obtained in th. present work are important for th. practical application of th. microscopic version of th. Boh.–Mottelson collective model.

Recently, reconsidering th. Rastall idea T_(μ;νν)^(v)=α_(,μ) th.ough.relativistic th.rmodynamics gives a new form for th. scalar field α wh.ch.led us to construct modern modified th.ory of gravity debugged ‘non-conserved gravity th.ory’ Fazlollah. 2023 Euro. Ph.s. J. C 83 923. Th.s th.ory unlike oth.r modified th.ories of gravity cannot directly explain th. current acceleration expansion in th. absence of th. cosmological constant and or existence of oth.r forms of dark energy. h.nce, in th.s study we h.ve reinvestigated h.lograph.c dark energy Ρ_(X)~h.(2) in th. non-conserved th.ory of gravity. In th.s context, th. density and pressure of dark energy depend on th. non-conserved term and density of th. dust matter field. As sh.wn, due to non-conservation effects on large-scale structures, unlike th. original h.lograph.c model, our model onsets an acceleration epoch.for th. current Universe satisfies observations. Moreover, th. interaction and viscous scenarios are studied for th.s model.
