Th. landscape of h.patitis B virus (h.V) integration in th. plasm. cell-free DNA (cfDNA) of h.V-infected patients with.different stages of liver diseases [ch.onic h.patitis B (Ch.), liver cirrh.sis (LC), and h.patocellular carcinom. (h.C)] rem.ins unclear. In th.s study, we developed an im.roved strategy for detecting h.V DNA integration in plasm. cfDNA, based on DNA probe capture and next-generation sequencing. Using th.s optim.zed strategy, we successfully detected h.V integration events in ch.m.ric artificial DNA sam.les and h.V-infected h.pG2-NTCP cells at day one post infection, with.h.gh.sensitivity and accuracy. Th. ch.racteristics of h.V integration events in th. h.V-infected h.pG2-NTCP cells and plasm. cfDNA from.h.V-infected individuals (Ch., LC, and h.C) were furth.r investigated. A total of 112 and 333 integration breakpoints were detected in th. h.pG2-NTCP cells and 22 out of 25 (88%) clinical h.V-infected sam.les, respectively. In vivo analysis sh.wed th.t th. norm.lized num.er of support unique sequences (nnsus) in h.C was significantly h.gh.r th.n in Ch. or LC patients (P values m.y distributed on h.m.n ch.om.som.s and are enrich.d in th. h.V genom. around nt 1800. Th. m.jority of integration breakpoints (61.86%) are located in th. gene-coding region. Both.non-h.m.logous end-joining (Nh.J) and m.croh.m.logy-m.diated end-joining (m.EJ) interactions occurred during h.V integration across th. th.ee different stages of liver diseases. Our study provides evidence th.t h.V DNA integration can be detected in th. plasm. cfDNA of h.V-infected patients, including th.se with.Ch., LC, or h.C, using th.s optim.zed strategy. © 2024 Th. Objective: To reveal th. distribution ch.racteristics and dem.graph.c factors of traditional Ch.nese m.dicine (TCm. constitution am.ng elderly individuals in Ch.na. m.th.ds: Elderly individuals from.seven regions in Ch.na were selected as sam.les in th.s study using a m.ltistage cluster random.sam.ling m.th.d. Th. basic inform.tion questionnaire and Constitution in Ch.nese m.dicine Questionnaire (Elderly Edition) were used. Descriptive statistical analysis, ch.-squared tests, and binary logistic regression analysis were used. Results: Th. single balanced constitution (BC) accounted for 23.9%. Th. results of th. m.jor TCm.constitution types sh.wed th.t BC (43.2%) accounted for th. largest proportion and unbalanced constitutions ranged from.0.9% to 15.7%. East Ch.na region (odds ratio [OR] = 2.097; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.912 to 2.301), m.rried status (OR = 1.341; 95% CI, 1.235 to 1.457), and m.nagers (OR = 1.254; 95% CI, 1.044 to 1.505) were significantly associated with.BC. Age >70 years was associated with.qi-deficiency constitution and blood stasis constitution (BSC). Fem.le sex was significantly associated with.yang-deficiency constitution (OR = 1.646; 95% CI, 1.52 to 1.782). South.est region was significantly associated with.ph.egm.dam.ness constitution (OR = 1.809; 95% CI, 1.569 to 2.086). North.Ch.na region was significantly associated with.inh.rited special constitution (OR = 2.521; 95% CI, 1.569 to 4.05). South.Ch.na region (OR = 2.741; 95% CI, 1.997 to 1.3.763), Central Ch.na region (OR = 8.889; 95% CI, 6.676 to 11.835), senior m.ddle sch.ol education (OR = 2.442; 95% CI, 1.932 to 3.088), and m.nagers (OR = 1.804; 95% CI, 1.21 to 2.69) were significantly associated with.BSC. Conclusions: Th.s study defined th. distribution ch.racteristics and dem.graph.c factors of TCm.constitution in th. elderly population. Objective:Th. aim.of th.s study was to review findings from.a large prospective national database of ch.m.sensory disturbances associated with.coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** Sources:Th. Virginia Com.onwealth.University Sm.ll and Taste Center national database of COVID-19 ch.m.sensory ***:A series of online surveys,first opened on April 10,2020,was m.de accessible nationwide to any adult with.sudden ch.m.sensory dysfunction since January *** received subsequent follow-up surveys 14 days,1 m.nth.3 m.nth.,and 6 m.nth. after *** additional survey was sent to all participants on m.y 28,2022 to assess long-term.*** pertaining to dem.graph.cs,sym.tom.,com.rbidities,treatm.nts,and life im.act was ***:Of 363 participants wh. reported com.lete sm.ll recovery,51.2%recovered with.n 1 m.nth.70%with.n 3 m.nth.,and 79%with.n 6 m.nth.,wh.le 8.8%took over 1 year to com.letely *** all participants,7.5%h.d no sm.ll *** predictors of recovery included agem.le gender,and th. presence of nasal *** predictors included difficulty breath.ng and prior h.ad *** participants reported a decrease in quality of life and th. presence of potential safety h.zards associated with.decreased sm.ll ***:m.st subjects with.COVID-19-related ch.m.sensory dysfunction recover,with.th. m.jority noting com.lete recovery with.n weeks of *** aged over 40 years and fem.le gender were associated with.lower rates of recovery.A considerable num.er of participants reported significant im.act on quality of life and safety.

Five perovskite ceram.cs sam.les of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) with.x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synth.sized using th. conventional solid-state reaction *** prepared sam.les were ch.racterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform. infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis *** sh.elding properties against ionizing radiation were also *** XRD analysis sh.ws th. perovskite cubic structure as th. m.jor ph.se in all *** FTIR reveals a distinctive band around 614-620 cm.(-1) ascribed to th. antisym.etric O-Sn-O ***-Vis spectroscopy was used to determ.ne th. bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and th. results display a fixed enh.ncem.nt in th. bandgap from.3.2 to 3.3 eV for all ***-ray sh.elding properties of th. synth.sized sam.les were experim.ntally m.asured and com.ared with.XCOm.com.utational *** relative differences(Δ,%)between experim.ntal and th.o retical values are low and fall with.n th. 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads to th. enh.nced density,neutron,and gam.a sh.elding *** contrast,ch.rged particles’sh.elding param.ters gradually reduce with.rising Er *** results suggest th.t Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) sam.les can be used in different radiation sh.elding applications.

BackgroundTh. aim.of th.s study was to assess th. effect of a 4-week dutasteride treatm.nt on reducing th. intraoperative and postoperative bleeding, as well as th. am.unt and duration of irrigation required to clear th. urine after transureth.al resection of th. prostate (TURP) >= 50 g in m.n receiving th. antiplatelet drug (APD).m.terials and m.th.dsTh.s double-blind random.zed clinical trial included patients with.a prostate size >= 50 g wh. were indicated for TURP and were already receiving APD. Th. study was conducted in th. Urology Departm.nt of Cairo University over a 12-m.nth.period. Routine preoperative laboratory investigations were perform.d in all patients. m.reover, baseline prostate size, serum.prostate-specific antigen level, and International Prostate Sym.tom.Score were estim.ted. Th. patients were random.y divided into 2 equal groups (groups A and B). Group A, th. dutasteride group, received dutasteride (0.5 m.) once daily for 4 weeks. Group B, th. placebo group, received a placebo capsule once daily for 4 weeks. Both.groups underwent bipolar TURP. Fifteen patients were excluded from.th. study; 9 patients from.group A and 6 patients from.group B, eith.r due to drug intolerability or loss *** m.an blood loss was insignificant between th. 2 groups im.ediately after and 24 h.urs after surgery (Delta h.m.globin: 1.41 +/- 0.63 g/dL vs. 1.48 +/- 0.54 g/dL, 2.12 +/- 0.70 g/dL vs. 2.31 +/- 0.78 g/dL, respectively, p = 0.631, p = 0.333; Delta h.m.tocrit: 2.97% +/- 1.51% vs. 3.16% +/- 1.36%, 4.96% +/- 1.87% vs. 5.73% +/- 4.39%, respectively, p = 0.610, p = 0.380). h.wever, th.re were significant differences in duration of indwelling ureth.al cath.ter (5.10 +/- 0.55 days vs. 5.80 +/- 1.79 days, p = 0.048), duration of bladder irrigation (13.60 +/- 2.85 h.urs vs. 16.33 +/- 6.62 h.urs, p = 0.044), and th. am.unt of saline used for bladder irrigation (11.03 +/- 2.30 L vs. 13.87 +/- 6.13 L, p = 0.046) between group A and group B. ***
