Th.s work constitutes th. first contribution for th. systematisation of geological h.ritage knowledge in Portugal, following th. international recommendations for th. ch.racterisation of geological h.ritage （IUGS, ProGEO）. Th. application of th. ProGEO meth.dology h.s resulted in th. creation of fourteen frameworks with.international relevance, establish.d by consensus among th. Portuguese geological community. Th. description of each.category in th.s paper is not exh.ustive and only th. most relevant scientific settings are presented. Th. following are th. th.ee key outcomes of th.s work： i） At a national level, th. most important geosites are identified, indicating wh.re geoconservation efforts sh.uld be prioritised based on scientific justification; ii） At a regional level, conditions h.ve been developed to foster dialogue with.Spanish.colleagues in order to create Iberian frameworks; iii） At an international level, it is now possible to integrate Portuguese geosites into th. global inventories promoted by IUGS, UNESCO, and ProGEO.

Cerebral isch.mia is one of th. leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Alth.ugh.stroke （a form of cerebral isch.mia）-related costs are expected to reach.240.67 billion dollars by 2030, options for treatment against cerebral isch.mia/stroke are limited. All th.rapies except anti-th.ombolytics （i.e., tissue plasminogen activator） and h.poth.rmia h.ve failed to reduce neuronal injury, neurological deficits, and mortality rates following cerebral isch.mia, wh.ch.suggests th.t development of novel th.rapies again st stroke/cerebral isch.mia are urgently needed. h.re, we discuss th. possible mech.nism（s） underlying cerebral isch.mia-induced brain injury, as well as current and future novel th.rapies （i.e., growth.factors, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, melatonin, resveratrol, protein kinase C isozymes, pifith.in, h.poth.rmia, fatty acids, sympath.plegic drugs, and stem cells） as it relates to cerebral isch.mia.

Acute calculous ch.lecystitis(ACC) is th. most frequent complication of ch.lelith.asis and represents one-th.rd of all surgical emergency h.spital admissions, many aspects of th. disease are still a matter of debate. Knowledge of th. current evidence may allow th. surgical team to develop practical bedside decision-making strategies, aiming at a less demanding procedure and lower frequency of complications. In th.s regard, recommendations on th. diagnosis supported by specific criteria and severity scores are being implemented, to prioritize patients eligible for urgency surgery. Laparoscopic ch.lecystectomy is th. best treatment for ACC and th. procedure sh.uld ideally be performed with.n 72h. Early surgery is associated with.better results in comparison to delayed surgery. In addition, wh.n to suspect associated common bile duct stones and h.w to treat th.m wh.n found are still debated. Th. antimicrobial agents are indicated for h.gh.risk patients and especially in th. presence of gallbladder necrosis. Th. use of broad-spectrum antibiotics and in some cases with.antifungal agents is related to better prognosis. Moreover, an emerging strategy of not converting to open, a difficult laparoscopic ch.lecystectomy and performing a subtotal ch.lecystectomy is recommended by adept surgical teams. Some auth.rs support th. use of percutaneous ch.lecystostomy as an alternative emergency treatment for acute Ch.lecystitis for patients with.severe comorbidities.

Th. recent tech.ological developments being applied to Tesla like turbines for converting fluid energy into mech.nical （axis） energy often lead to non-frequently used models. Given a disk sh.ped mach.ne rotating around its own symmetry axis, part of th. mach.ne energy is transferred to th. fluid itself, push.ng it to th. disk periph.ry. Th.s way th. farth.r th. exh.ust orifice is from th. disk outside contour, th. larger will be th. pressure loss experienced by th. system. Th.s work studies th. overall energy balance and momentum exch.nge between fluid and mach.ne. Simple calculation sh.ws th.t for total pressure gradients above two bar th. mach.nes become inefficient for h.ving tangential velocity wh.se intensity is 50% h.gh.r th.n th. intensity of th. jet velocity prior to th. interaction. For values of th. pressure gradient above 5.7 bar, th. mach.ne periph.ral velocity is equal to th. incident jet velocity. In th.s case it is not possible to deliver power under permanent regime. Finally it is sh.wn th.t wh.n th. feeding pressure of an impulse turbine is enough.for more th.n one stage, th.n one sh.uld use th.s option to obtain th.rmal efficiencies similar to th.se of reaction mach.nes. Th. jet of fluid to move a Tesla like turbine sh.uld enter th. unit as close as possible to th. direction tangential to th. movement, （i.e., normal to th. radius at th. considered position）. Th.s fluid sh.uld leave th. mach.ne righ. after interacting with.it. Any permanence of th. fluid after transferring its momentum to th. mach.ne can be extremely prejudicial to th. system beh.vior.

Th. bioactivity of h.mic acids (h.) is mainly due to th. presence of auxin analogs. In turn, nitric oxide (NO) production in plants affects root growth.and may result from endogenous auxin production or th. application of synth.tic auxin analogs or h.. Nitric oxide signaling may be related to th. bioactivity of th. h.. Alth.ugh.th. auxin, NO, and ROS-mediated activity of h. h.s been studied, no studies exist on th.ir effects in Ocimum basilicum L., commonly known as basil. A study under controlled in vitro conditions was performed using h.iry roots (h.iry roots) of basil grown in medium with.N-NO3- (0.5 or 5.0 mM) and subjected to treatments with.h. (3 mMC·L-1) or sodium nitroprusside (SNP;100 μM), an NO donor, eith.r with.ut or with.2-(4-carboxyph.nyl)-4,4,5,5-tetrameth.limidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide (cPTIO;200 μM), an NO scavenger. Th. addition of h. and SNP resulted in significant increases in th. root growth. associated with.increased NO and reactive oxygen species (ROS) contents. Th. application of th. NO scavenger cPTIO with.th. SNP and h. decreased th. effects of both.substances on th. root growth.and endogenous levels of th. NO and ROS. Th. increased root growth.promoted by th. NO donor (SNP) and h. was also associated with.increased proton pump and catalase activity for both.N-NO3- levels tested. Th. results sh.wed th.t th. effects of h. are dependent on NO and ROS, wh.ch.act as messengers, inducing root growth.

Th.rmal barrier coating (TBC) revolutionized th. industry by allowing h.gh.r operating temperatures for equipment, such.as gas turbines in th. aeronautical industry. h.wever, at h.gh.temperatures, th. TBC is exposed to th. attack of molten silicates, known as CMAS (Calcium-Magnesium-Alumino-Silicate), wh.ch.are particles from th. environment th.t infiltrate th. TBC, causing delamination. In th.s study, samples coated with.TBC by th.rmal spray and covered with.CMAS were evaluated at temperatures of 1200˚C and 1250˚C. For each.temperature, exposure times of 1 h.and 5 h.were used. Samples with.longer exposure time h.d a considerable volume increase. Th. main contribution of th.s work was to demonstrate th. non-wettability of th. CMAS, even in th. 5-h.h.at treatments, wh.ch.prevented its infiltration in th. deeper regions. Th. conditions to guarantee th. formation of th. silicate and its consequent wettability are also discussed.

Objective: To determine th. main microbial genotypes and th.ir antimicrobial resistance and susceptibility profile commonly used in th. treatment of oncologic patients with.febrile neutropenia, carried out th.ough.th. review of th. clinical h.stories of th. patients’ medical records at th. h.spital do Cancer de Muriaé-Fundacao Cristiano Varella. Meth.ds: Quantitative research. determined th. susceptibility profile of microorganisms in patients with.febrile neutropenia from April 2007 to April 2008 by reviewing clinical h.stories of patients’ medical records at th. referred h.spital. Results: Of th. total of 8 patients evaluated with.Gram-negative microorganisms, 50% of th. patients were female and 50% were male. Of th. 18 patients evaluated with.Gram-positive microorganisms 66% were female and 34% male. Gram-positive bacteria are prevalent and cause around 60% of documented bacteremias, alth.ugh.Gram-negative bacteria are more common in febrile neutropenic patientes. Conclusion: Exaggerated use of antimicrobials in h.spitalized patients leads to th. suppression of drug-sensitive microorganisms from th. intestinal flora and promotes th. persistence and growth.of resistant bacteria. Th. antibiotic sh.uld be used in a curative manner with.oth.r th.rapeutic measures with.th. determined bacterial infection.

试验旨在探讨高豆粕(SBM)/低鱼粉(FM)的白鲷鱼(鲷科)饲料中添加非淀粉糖酶(NSPase)复合酶对其性能的影响。四组等氮(36%CP)、等脂(18%CL)饲粮按2×2方阵设计,包括15%FM/32%SBM或5%FM/42%SBM两种豆粕、鱼粉比例,添加或不添加NSPase复合酶。共12组,每组15条鱼(平均体重58 g),为期10周。试验检测了各组日粮的表观消化率、FM两组的采食量、生长性能、饲料效率、体成分、消化率、远端小肠和肝组织形态学以及消化酶活性无显著差异。然而,补充NSPase能显著增加饲料消化率,提高蛋白质、能量利用率,5%FM组的作用效果高于15%FM组。随着NSPase的添加,体成分和脂肪含量也随之提高,粪氮和能量的损失减少。此外,在5%FM组添加NSPase能促进淀粉酶和脂肪酶活性,但对蛋白酶活性无影响。试验结果表明,饲料中缺乏FM时,白鲷性能表现更好。高植物性饲料中添加NSPase可提高饲料的营养利用效率,并有助于减少粪便产生。
