Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,mech.nical as well as th.rmoelectric properties for rare earth.based spinels Mgh._(2)Z_(4)(Z=S,Se)were investigated using density functional th.ory(DFT).Structural optimization was done with.Perdew-Burke-Eh.enzorf(PBE)sol-generalized gradient approximation(GGA)to calculate th. lattice constant of both.spinels comparable to experimental data.In addition,Born stability criteria and negative formation energy sh.w th.t our studied spinels are also structurally and dynamically stable in th. cubic ph.se.For ferromagnetic(FM)state stability,we also calculated th. energy differences among FM,antiferromagnetic(AFM),and non-magnetic(nM)states.Additionally,Curie temperatures of ferromagnetic ph.ses were also estimated.We used Trans-Blah. improved BeckeJoh.son(TB-mBJ)potential functional for electronics as well as magnetic ch.racteristics,wh.ch.lead to th. consistent explanation of h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,representing th. wh.le band-occupancy in material with.exact detail of density of states(DOS).Th. stable FM state was examined in spinels due to th. exch.nge splitting of h. cation consisting of p-d h.bridizations compatible with.th. result ach.eved for electronics band structure and DOS.Furth.r,spin magnetic moment was explained in terms of anion,cation,and sh.ring ch.rge on studied spinels.In addition,th. calculated th.rmoelectric properties clearly sh.w th.t operation range of th.se systems may be utilized by future experimental works for identifying th. potential applications of th.se systems.

Soil nutrient stoich.ometric ratios and th.ir influencing factors in mountainous areas of th. Ili River Valley

Studying th. soil stoich.ometric ratios and th. influencing factors of different altitude gradients in mountain ecosystems in arid zones is significant in revealing th. soil nutrient status and maintaining th. sustainable development of mountain ecosystems. In th.s paper, 13 sample plots were establish.d along th. elevation gradient in th. mountains of th. south.rn Ili River Valley, and soil in th. depth.of 0-20 cm was studied to investigate nutrient stoich.ometric ratios and th.ir influencing factors. Th. results sh.wed th.t: (1) Soil acidity gradually increased with.elevation. Organic carbon and total nitrogen contents are significantly h.gh.r in th. middle and h.gh.mountain belts th.n in th. low mountain belts, wh.le total ph.sph.rus and total potassium contents are opposite. (2) Due to altitudinal differences, th. carbon-to-nitrogen ratio is significantly h.gh.r in th. mid-alpine belt th.n in th. low and alpine belts; carbon and ph.sph.rus ratios are significantly h.gh.r in th. middle and h.gh.mountain belts th.n in th. middle and low mountain belts; carbon and potassium ratios are significantly h.gh.r in th. middle and h.gh.mountain belts th.n in th. low mountain belts; nitrogen-ph.sph.rus ratios are h.gh.r in th. alpine zone, but th.re is no major difference between th. transition zone and th. low mountain zone; nitrogen-potassium ratios are much.h.gh.r in th. alpine zone, wh.reas th.re is no significant difference between th. mid-alpine zone and th. transition zone; th. differences of ph.sph.rus/potassium ratios between altitudinal gradients are ignorable. (3) Th. dominant factors affecting th. stoich.ometric ratios of soil ph.sicoch.mical indicators are soil organic carbon (62.4%), total ph.sph.rus (15.9%), and total carbon (13.7%); wh.le th. major environmental factors are mean annual soil temperature (27.1%), vegetation index (11.2%), elevation (12.3%), and mean annual atmosph.ric temperature (3.4%). Anti-ganglioside antibodies are associated with.delayed/poor clinical recovery in Guillain-Barrèsyndrome,mostly related to h.lted axon regeneration.Cross-linking of cell surface gangliosides by anti-ganglioside antibodies triggers inh.bition of nerve repair in in vitro and in vivo paradigms of axon regeneration.Th.se effects involve th. activation of th. small GTPase Rh. A/ROCK signaling path.ays,wh.ch.negatively modulate growth.cone cytoskeleton,similarly to well stablish.d inh.bitors of axon regeneration described so far.Th. aim of th.s work was to perform a proof of concept study to demonstrate th. effectiveness of Y-27632,a selective ph.rmacological inh.bitor of ROCK,in a mouse model of axon regeneration of periph.ral nerves,wh.re th. passive immunization with.a monoclonal antibody targeting gangliosides GD1a and GT1b was previously reported to exert a potent inh.bitory effect on regeneration of both.myelinated and unmyelinated fibers.Our results demonstrate a differential sensitivity of myelinated and unmyelinated axons to th. pro-regenerative effect of Y-27632.Treatment with.a total dosage of 9 mg/kg of Y-27632 resulted in a complete prevention of anti-GD1a/GT1b monoclonal antibody-mediated inh.bition of axon regeneration of unmyelinated fibers to skin and th. functional recovery of mech.nical cutaneous sensitivity.In contrast,th. same dose sh.wed toxic effects on th. regeneration of myelinated fibers.Interestingly,scale down of th. dosage of Y-27632 to 5 mg/kg resulted in a significant alth.ugh.not complete recovery of regenerated myelinated axons exposed to anti-GD1a/GT1b monoclonal antibody in th. absence of toxicity in animals exposed to only Y-27632.Overall,th.se findings confirm th. in vivo participation of Rh. Empirical model for fusion cross sections of Ca-induced reactions

A new empirical formula for th. astroph.sical S-factor h.s been suggested as a function of th. Coulomb interaction parameter,center of mass energy,and barrier h.igh..About 22 fusion reactions with.^(40,48)Ca as projectiles were considered for different targets,leading to compound nuclei with.atomic and mass numbers varying between 40≤Z≤≤Z≤112 and 88≤A≤27888≤A≤278,respectively.Th. fusion cross-sections h.ve been estimated using th. geometric factor,th. Gamow-Sommerfield factor,and th. empirical formula for th. S-factor.Th.s study's findings sh.wed better agreement with.th.se of available experiments wh.n compared to Wong's formula.Th. present work leads to a smaller standard deviation value th.n Wong's formula wh.n used to correlate th. experimental data of calcium-induced fusion reactions.Wong's formula provides a good approximation of fusion cross-sections wh.n th. center of mass energy is below th. fusion barrier wh.n compared to above th. fusion barrier.

Groundwater vulnerability assessment is a crucial step in th. efficient management of groundwater resources,especially in areas with.intensive anth.opogenic activities and groundwater pollution.In th. present study,th. DRASTIC meth.d was applied using Geograph.c Information System(GIS)to delineate groundwater vulnerability zones in th. Erbil Dumpsite area,Central Erbil Basin,north.Iraq.Results sh.wed th.t th. area was classified into four vulnerability classes:Very low(16.97%),low(27.67%),moderate(36.55%)and h.gh.18.81%).Th. south.rn,south.eastern and north.rn parts of th. study area exh.bited th. h.gh.st vulnerability potential,wh.le th. central-north.rn,north.rn and north.western regions displayed th. lowest vulnerability potential.Moreover,results of th. single-parameter sensitivity analysis indicated th.t amongst th. seven DRASTIC parameters,th. unsaturated zone and th. aquifer media were th. most influencing parameters.In conclustion,th. correlation of 25 nitrate concentration values with.th. final vulnerability map,assessed using th. Pearson correlation coefficient,yielded a satisfactory result of R=0.72.

h.licobacter pylori(h.pylori)infection is a th.eat to h.man h.alth.Th. lipopolysacch.ride(LPS)O-antigen h.lds promise for developing vaccines.It is meaningful to explore th. immunological activity of oligosacch.rides with.different length. and framesh.fts for antigen development.h.rein,a glycan library of h.pylori O2 O-antigen containing eigh. fragments is constructed.After screening with.anti-h.pylori O2 LPS sera and patients’sera by glycan microarray,th. disacch.ride h.O2G-2b and trisacch.ride h.O2G-3a sh.w strong antigenicity and th.n are separately conjugated with.carrier protein CRM197.Both.glycoconjugates elicit a robust immunoglobulin G(IgG)immune response in rabbits.Th. anti-h.O2G-3a IgG antibodies possess a much.stronger binding affinity with.th. LPS and bacteria of h.pylori O2 th.n th. anti-h.O2G-2b IgG antibodies.Th.re is no cross-reaction between both.sera IgG antibodies with.LPS and bacteria of h.pylori O1,O6,and E.coli.Th. results demonstrate th. trisacch.ride h.O2G-3a is a promising candidate for h.pylori vaccine development.
