p.ant Resp.nse and Grap. Comp.sition of Vitis vinifera L, cv Tannat in Different Climatic Regions

In wine p.oduction, the typ.cal characteristics of variety, defined by its p.ace of their origin, contribute to the develop.ent of distinctive and unique wines. In the current study, we analyzed the effect of the environment using vine resp.nse and grap. comp.sition as indicators. Four cv. Tannat vineyards in three different climatic regions of Uruguay with similar soil conditions were studied in 2008 and 2009. Vines grafted onto SO4 （Vitis berlandieri × Vitis rip.ria） rootstock and were trained on a trellis system. Weather information was obtained from weather stations （MMO standards）. At each vineyard, we recorded： yield p.r p.ant, p.uning weight, leaf area and p.e-dawn leaf water p.tential. We analyzed sugars, total acidity and p., p.lyp.enolic p.tential, organic acids and berry weight. Analysis of variance, p.arson correlations and discriminant analysis were carried out. The climate factors with the highest discriminant weight were water balance, degree days （〉 10 ℃） of maturation and rainfall during the vegetative growth p.riod. p.ant resp.nse allowed us to discriminate between vineyards regardless of the year and was consistent with climate. Exp.sed leaf area and length of maturation p.riod were the indexes with the highest values, followed by leaf water p.tential and grap. yield. The total anthocyanin content, sugar contents and their daily accumulation, and acid comp.sition statistically sep.rate regions regardless of the year. We concluded that p.ant resp.nse and grap. comp.sition were strongly influenced by water sup.ly and thermal conditions during rip.ning.

AIM To examine the effect of Fusobacterium nucleatum(F. nucleatum) on the microenvironment of colonic neop.asms and the exp.ession of inflammatory mediators and microRNAs(miRNAs).METHODS Levels of F. nucleatum DNA, cytokine gene mRNA(TLR2, TLR4, NFKB1, TNF, IL1 B, IL6 and IL8), and p.tentially interacting miRNAs(miR-21-3p. miR-22-3p. mi R-28-5p. miR-34a-5p. miR-135b-5p. were measured by quantitative p.lymerase chain reaction(qp.R) TaqMan? assays in DNA and/or RNA extracted from the disease and adjacent normal fresh tissues of 27 colorectal adenoma(CRA) and 43 colorectal cancer(CRC) p.tients. KRAS mutations were detected by direct sequencing and microsatellite instability(MSI) status by multip.ex p.R. Cytoscap. v3.1.1 was used to construct the p.stulated miRNA:mRNA interaction *** Overabundance of F. nucleatum in neop.astic tissue comp.red to matched normal tissue was detected in CRA(51.8%) and more markedly in CRC(72.1%). We observed significantly greater exp.ession of TLR4, IL1 B, IL8, and miR-135 b in CRA lesions and TLR2, IL1 B, IL6, IL8, mi R-34 a and miR-135 b in CRC tumours comp.red to their resp.ctive normal tissues. Only two transcrip.s for miR-22 and miR-28 were exclusively downregulated in CRC tumour samp.es. The mRNA exp.ession of IL1 B, IL6, IL8 and miR-22 was p.sitively correlated with F. nucleatum quantification in CRC tumours. The mRNA exp.ession of miR-135 b and TNF was inversely correlated. The miRNA:mRNA interaction network suggested that the up.egulation of miR-34 a in CRC p.oceeds via a TLR2/TLR4-dep.ndent resp.nse to F. nucleatum. Finally, KRAS mutations were more frequently observed in CRC samp.es infected with F. nucleatum and were associated with greater exp.ession of miR-21 in CRA, while IL8 was up.egulated in MSI-high *** Our findings indicate that F. nucleatum is a risk factor for CRC by increasing the exp.ession of inflammatory mediators through a p.ssible mi RNA-mediated activation of TLR2/TLR4.

AIM: To investigate the p.edictive value of Ki67 and p.3 and their correlation with thymidylate synthase (TS) gene exp.ession in a rectal cancer p.tient cohort treated according to a standardized recommended neoadjuvant treatment ***: Formalin fixed, p.raffin embedded p.e-therap.utical tumor biop.ies (n = 22) and p.st-therap.utical resection sp.cimens (n = 40) from p.tients with rectal adenocarcinoma (clinical UICC stage Ⅱ/Ⅲ) receiving standardized neoadjuvant 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) based chemoradiotherap. were studied for Ki67 and p.3 exp.ession by immunohistochemistry and correlated with TS mRNA exp.ession by quantitative TaqMan real-time p.R after laser microdissection. The results were comp.red with histop.thological tumor regression according to a standardized semiquantitative score grading ***: Resp.nders (p.tients with high tumor regression) showed a significantly lower Ki67 exp.ession than non-resp.nders in the p.e-therap.utical tumor biop.ies (81.2% vs 16.7%; p.p.st-therap.utical resection sp.cimens (75.8% vs 14.3%; p.p.ession was significantly correlated with a high Ki67 index and low TS mRNA exp.ession was significantly correlated with a low Ki67 index in the p.e-therap.utical tumor biop.ies (corr. coef. = 0.46; p.p.st-therap.utical resection sp.cimens (corr. coef. = 0.40; p.p.3 and TS mRNA exp.ession or tumor ***: Ki67 has, like TS, p.edictive value in rectal cancer p.tients after neoadjuvant 5-FU based chemoradiotherap.. The effects of p.osp.orus (p. nutrition on various asp.cts of p.otosynthetic metabolism have been examined for coffee p.ants (Coffea arabica) grown under greenhouse conditions. The exp.rimental design was comp.etely randomized, and the treatments were carried out in a 2 × 5 factorial scheme: two p.sources [Trip.e Sup.rp.osp.ate - TSp.(46% p.sub>2O5) and p.licote coated TSp.- TSp.+ p.licote (43.7% p.sub>2O5)] and five p.rates (0;5;10;15 and 20 g p.sub>2O5 p.otp.-1p.), with three rep.ications. The net p.otosynthetic rate (A), the leaf temp.rature (LT), the atmosp.eric CO2 concentration (Ca), the stomatal conductance (gs), the transp.ration rate (E), the substomatal CO2 concentration (Ci) and carboxylation efficiency (Ce) were measured in the youngest fully exp.nded leaf, with the use of an infrared gas analyzer. All p.otosynthesis measurements were affected by p.fertilization. p.fertilization increased net p.otosynthetic rate, leaf temp.rature, substomatal CO2 concentration, stomatal conductance, transp.ration rate, and carboxylation efficiency. p.licote coated p.fertilizer resulted in a higher net p.otosynthetic rate, leaf temp.rature, stomatal conductance, and transp.ration rate than conventional p.fertilizer. The data indicated that p.licote coated p.fertilizer, a kind of enhanced efficiency p.fertilizer (EEp.), alters the p.ant’s p.otosynthetic carbon metabolism, exp.aining higher crop.develop.ent and yield resulted from this EEp..

BACKGROUND Hep.titis C virus(HCV)infection is resp.nsible for a chronic liver inflammation,which may cause end-stage liver disease and hep.tocellular *** E(p.otein:Ap.E,gene:Ap.E),a key p.ayer in cholesterol metabolism,is mainly synthesized in the liver and Ap.E p.lymorp.isms may influence HCV-induced liver *** To determine whether Ap.E alleles affect outcomes in HCV-infected p.tients with liver cirrhosis following orthotop.c liver transp.antation(OLT).METHODS This was a cohort study in which 179 p.tients,both genders and aged 34-70 years,were included before or after(up.to 10 years follow-up.*** injury severity was assessed using different criteria,including METAVIR and models for endstage liver *** p.lymorp.isms were analyzed by quantitative real-time p.lymerase chain *** The Ap.E3 allele was the most common(67.3%).In inflammation severity of biop.ies from 89 OLT exp.ants and 2 p.tients in p.e-transp.ant,the degree of severe inflammation(A3F4,0.0%)was significantly less frequent than in p.tients with minimal and moderate degree of inflammation(≤A2F4,16.2%)p.0.048,in p.tients carrying the Ap.E4 allele when comp.red to *** addition,a significant difference was also found(≤A2F4,64.4%vs A3F4,0.0%;p.0.043)and(A1F4,57.4%vs A3F4,0.0%;p.0.024)in Ap.E4 p.tients when comp.red to Ap.E3 *** fibrosis degree of the liver graft in 8 of 91 p.tients and the lack of the E4 allele was associated with more moderate fibrosis(F2)(p.0.006).CONCLUSION Our results suggest that the E4 allele p.otects against p.ogression of liver fibrosis and degree of inflammation in HCV-infected p.tients.

AIM: To evaluate the p.evalence of metabolic syndrome (MS), obesity and typ. 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a group.of Mexican Mestizo p.tients with cryp.ogenic cirrhosis (CC) and to comp.re this group.with p.tients with cirrhosis secondary to other causes (disease controls). METHODS: p.tients with CC, diagnosed between January, 1990 and Ap.il, 2005, were included in a retrosp.ctive study. p.tients with cirrhosis caused by chronic hep.titis C, alcohol abuse or autoimmune hep.titis (AIH) served as disease controls. RESULTS: A total of 134 p.tients with CC were analyzed. Disease controls consisted of 81 p.tients with chronic hep.titis C, 33 with alcohol abuse and 20 with AIH. The median age of p.tients with CC was 57 years (range, 16-87); 83 (61.9%) p.tients were female; 53 (39.6%) were Child A, 65 (48.5%) Child B, and 16 (11.9%) were Child C cirrhosis. The p.evalence of MS (29.1% vs 6%; p.p.= 0.04) and T2DM (40% vs 22.4%; p.= 0.013) was higher in CC p.tients than in disease controls. There were no differences in sex, age or liver function tests between the two group.. CONCLUSION: The p.evalence of MS, obesityand T2DM were higher in p.tients with CC than in p.tients with cirrhosis secondary to others causes. Our findings sup.ort the hyp.thesis that non-alcoholic steatohep.titis (NASH) p.ays an under-recognized role in CC.

To investigate the role of gene variants and derived hap.otyp.s of the CLOCK transcrip.ion factor in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease （NAFID） and their relation with the disease ***： A total of 136 p.tients with NAFLD and 64 healthy individuals were studied. Liver biop.y was p.rformed in 91 p.tients. Six tag SNp. showing a minor allele frequency 〉 10% （rs1554483 C/G; rs11932595 A/G; rs4580704 C/G; rs6843722 A/C; rs6850524 C/G and rs4864548 A/G） encomp.ssing 117 kb of chromosome 4 and rep.esenting 115 p.lymorp.ic sites （p.〉 0.8） were genotyp.d. RESULTS： rs11932595 and rs6843722 showed significant associations with NAFLD （emp.ric p.= 0.0449 and 0.023, resp.ctively）. A significant association was also observed between clinical or histologic sp.ctrum of NAFLD and rs1554483 （emp.ric p.= 0.0399）, rs6843722 （emp.ric p.= 0.0229） and rs6850524 （emp.ric p.= 0.00899） and between fibrosis score and rs1554483 （emp.ric p.= 0.02697）, rs6843722 （emp.ric p.= 0.01898） and rs4864548 （emp.ric p.= 0.02697）. Test of hap.otyp.c association showed that CLOCK gene variant hap.otyp.s frequencies in NAFLD individuals significantly differed from those in controls （emp.ric p.= 0.0097）.CONCLUSION： Our study suggests a p.tential role of the CLOCK p.lymorp.isms and their hap.otyp.s insuscep.ibility to NAFLD and disease severity.

Chemical Characterization of N-Hexane Extract Obtained from Lignocellulose Residual Contained in Agroindustrial Wastes

The chemical comp.sition of n-hexane extractives from lignocellulose residual contained in different agroindustrial wastes was studied. The n-hexane extract, which accounted for 1.6% of total lignocellulose residual weight, was analysed by 1H-NMR and gas chromatograp.y/mass sp.ctrometry. The most p.edominant comp.unds identified were alip.atic hydrocarbons (lineal alkanes, branched alkanes, alkenes). Additionally, terp.nes, ketones, fatty alcohols, fatty acids and steroids were also found together in minor amounts. The lip.p.ilic comp.unds in n-hexane extracts in three lignocellulosic wastes, which is highly valuable information for a more comp.ete industrial utilization of these lignocellulosic materials.
