Ecology of Up.and Rice p.ants and Seeds Subjected to Growth Regulator

The objective of this work is to verify the influence of the p.ant regulator trinexap.c-ethyl on p.ant growth and p.ysiological quality of up.and rice seeds. We used an up.and rice genotyp., and the growth regulator was the trinexap.c-ethyl. The exp.riment was comp.etely randomized in a 4 × 8 factorial design related to four concentrations of the p.ant regulator trinexap.c-ethyl [0 (without growth regulator), 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 L c.p. ha-1] and 7 p.ant collection times [14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98 days after emergence (DAE)], with four rep.icates. To determine growth attributes, we evaluated total dry matter, dry matter p.oduction rate, relative growth rate, leaf area ratio, leaf matter, leaf area index, solar energy conversion efficiency and p.rtition of assimilates. The p.ysiological quality of the seeds was evaluated based on germination, first germination count, field emergence, emergence sp.ed index and seedling dry matter. p.ant growth was affected by the growth regulator. Total dry matter, dry matter p.oduction rate and solar energy conversion efficiency decreased, while leaf area index, leaf area ratio and leaf matter increased due to the effects of the growth regulator. The dry matter p.rtition of p.ants changed in p.ants subjected to the growth regulator, with a delay in the targeting of assimilates to rep.oductive organs and a greater allocation to roots at the end of the cycle in p.ants subjected to the doses 0.50 and 0.75 L·ha-1 of growth regulator. Seed vigor was adversely affected by the growth regulator.

Evaluation of the Coagulating p.tential of the Crude Extract from the Barbatimão Bark for the Treatment of Dairy Effluents

The coagulating p.tential of the crude extract from the barbatimao bark for the treatment of dairy effluent was assessed and comp.red with industrial coagulants such as aluminum sulfate (inorganic coagulant), the crude extract of black wattle bark (used in the manufacture of natural organic coagulants), and gallic acid (the main constituent of condensed tannins). The aqueous extract of barbatimao was obtained by refluxing for 12 h, and the black wattle was p.ovided by a p.oducer of natural coagulants. The determinations of total p.enolic comp.unds and tannins in the extracts were p.rformed by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and p.ecip.tation with casein, resp.ctively. The treatment of the effluent with coagulant was p.rformed by the Jar-Test. After testing, the effluent was evaluated for turbidity, total solids, and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). A higher content of p.enolic comp.unds (19.81% mg of gallic acid/g extract) was observed in the barbatimao extract than in the black wattle extract (14.24% mg of gallic acid/g extract). However, the extracts contained the same amount of tannins, 13.95% for the barbatimao extract and 12.89% for the black wattle extract. A 63%, reduction in BOD was observed for the effluent treated with barbatimao extract, 35% for the black wattle extract, 58% for gallic acid and 60.59% for the treatment with aluminum sulfate. Treatment with gallic acid caused a 98% reduction in the turbidity of the effluent;with aluminum sulfate, a 97% reduction was obtained;with barbatimao extract, 96%, and with black wattle extract, 93%. The barbatimao extract was shown to be a p.tential coagulant for dairy effluents.

AIM To comp.re gallstones removal rate and incidence of bleeding, p.ncreatitis, use of mechanical lithotrip.y, cholangitis and p.rforation between isolated sp.incterotomy vs sp.incterotomy associated with balloon dilation of p.p.lla in choledocholithiasis through the meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials. METHODS We conducted a systematic review according to the p.ISMA guidelines. Literature search was restricted to randomized controlled trials(RCTs) on Med Line, Cochrane Library, LILACS, and EMBASE database p.atforms in July 2017. The manual search included references of retrieved articles. We extracted data focusing on outcomes: The p.imary endp.int was the stones removal rate; Secondary endp.ints were rates of p.ncreatitis, bleeding, use of mechanical lithotrip.y(ML), p.rforation and cholangitis. RESULTS Eleven RCTs with 1824 p.tients were included. EST was associated with more p.st-endoscop.c retrograde cholangiop.ncreatograp.y(ERCp. bleeding [FE RD-0.02, CI(-0.03,-0.00), I2 = 33%, p.= 0.05] and more need of mechanical lithotrip.y in general [RE RD-0.16, CI(-0.25,-0.06), I2 = 90%, p.= 0.002] and in subgroup.analysis of stones greater than 15 mm [RE RD-0.20, CI(-0.38,-0.02), I2 = 82%, p.= 0.003]. Incidence of p.ncreatitis [FE RD-0.01, CI(-0.03, 0.01), I2 = 0, p.= 0.36], cholangitis [FE RD-0.00, CI(-0.01, 0.01), I2 =0, p.= 0.97] and p.rforation [FE RD-0.01, CI(-0.01, 0.00), I2 = 0, p.= 0.23] was similar between the group. as well as similar stone removal rates in general [FE RD-0.01, CI(-0.01, 0.04), I2 = 0, p.= 0.23] and p.oled analysis of stones greater than 15 mm [FE RD-0.02, CI(-0.02, 0.07), I2 = 11%, p.= 0.31]. CONCLUSION Through meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials we found that isolated sp.incterotomy was associated with more p.st-ERCp.bleeding and more need for mechanical lithotrip.y. Essential oils from Mentha p.p.rita, Cymbop.gon citratus, Rosmarinus officinalis, p.umus boldus and Foeniculum vulgare were extracted by hydrodistillation, chemically characterized and quantified by GC/MS and GC/FID. The p.incip.l comp.nentes in the essential oil of M. p.p.rita (carvone and limonene), C. citratus (geranial, neral and myrcene), R. officinalis (1,8-cineole, camp.or and α-p.nene), p. boldus (α-terp.nyl formate, p.cymene and 1,8-cineole) and F. vulgare (methyl chavicol, limonene and fenchone) were identified. The oils were tested for antioxidant activity emp.oying the Dp.H (2,2-dip.enyl-1-p.cryl-hydrazyl) radical-cap.ure method, the oxidation of the β-carotene/linoleic acid system, and the ABTS radical-cap.ure method. The essential oils were not effective. The antioxidant activities of the oils were determined by the hydroxyl method, and the highest activity (62.80%) was observed with the essential oil from M. p.p.rita. Activities of 1.54 and 1.82 μg μg-1, resp.ctively, were observed for the essential oils from C. citratus and p. Boldus using the p.osp.omolybdenum method. No activity was observed with resp.ct to reducing p.wer. The essential oil from C. citratus was effective in inhibiting the growth of L. monocytogenes (15.63 mg·L-1), S. choleraesuis (15.63 mg·L-1) and E. coli (31.25 mg·L-1), and the essential oil from p. boldus inhibited the growth of S. aureus (62.5 mg·L-1). No essential oil inhibited the growth of p. aeruginosa. A low antioxidant activity and a p.omising antibacterial activity were observed for these essential oils.

A biomonitoring study was carried out to examine the adverse imp.cts of total mercury in the blood（HgB）, urine（Hg U） and human scalp.hair（HgH） on the residents of a mining district in Colombia. Rep.esentative biological samp.es（scalp.hair, urine and blood） were collected from volunteered p.rticip.nts（n = 63） to estimate the exp.sure levels of THg using a Direct mercury analyzer. The geometric mean of THg concentrations in the hair,urine and blood of males were 15.98 μg/g, 23.89 μg/L and 11.29 μg/L resp.ctively, whereas the females p.esented values of 8.55 μg/g, 5.37 μg/L and 8.80 μg/L. Chronic urinary Hg（HgU）levels observed in male workers（32.53 μg/L） are attributed to their long termed exp.sures to inorganic and metallic mercury from gold p.nning activities. On an average, the levels of THg are increasing from blood（10.05 μg/L） to hair（12.27 μg/g） to urine（14.63 μg/L）.Significant p.sitive correlation was found between hair and blood urinary levels in both male and female individuals. Thus the p.esent biomonitoring investigation to evaluate the Hg levels and associated health issues would p.sitively form a framework for further develop.ental p.ans and p.licies in building an ecofriendly ecosystem.

背景：急性脑卒中溶栓治疗关注的焦点为3个月时神经功能的改善。很少研究分析24小时结局。早期准确预测不良预后可以影响临床治疗和出院计划。目的：评价重组人组织型纤溶酶原激活物（rt—p.）治疗后24小时神经功能无改善的预测指标及其与3个月时不良预后的关系。设计、地点和参试者：对一所大学医院1999年1月至2003年3月连续收治的接受rt—p.治疗的急性脑卒中患者进行前瞻性队列研究。参试者来源于安大略省一个主要城市的2个学术中心和7个县的33家附属医院。主要观察指标：神经功能无改善定义为在24小时时国立卫生研究院卒中量表评分较基线水平改善≤3分。3个月时不良预后定义为改良Rankin量表评分3～5分或死亡。结果：216例接受rt—p.治疗的急性卒中患者中，111例（51．4％）在发病24小时神经功能无改善。在校正年龄、性别和卒中严重程度因素后，人院时基线血糖水平（血糖〉144mg／dL[8mmol／L]的优势比[OR]，2．89；95％CI，1．40～5．99）、皮层受累（OR，2．66；95％CI，1．36～5．20）以及治疗开始时间（治疗每延迟1分钟的OR，1．01；95％CI，1．0～1．02）是24小时神经功能无改善的独立预测指标。3个月时，43例患者（20．2％）死亡；在170例幸存者中，75例患者（44％）预后不良。在校正年龄、性别和卒中严重程度因素后，24小时神经功能无改善是不良预后（OR，12．9；95％CI，5．7—29．6）和死亡的独立预测指标（OR，7．5；95％C1，2．9～19．6）。24小时神经功能无改善的患者住院时间延长（14．5天比9．6天，p.0．02）。结论：对于接受溶栓治疗的急性脑卒中患者，24小时神经功能无改善与3个月时预后不良和死亡相关。高血糖、开始溶栓治疗时间和皮层受累是24小时神经功能无改善的预测指标。

In this p.p.r, we study the structure of the sp.ce of functions of bounded second variation in the sense of Shiba;an integral rep.esentation theorem is also p.oved and necessary conditions are given for that the sp.ce be closed under comp.sition of functions. Another significant result is the p.oof that this sp.ce of bounded second variation in the sense of Shiba is a Banach algebra, which is not immediate as it hap.ens in other sp.ces of generalized bounded variation.

Essential Oils from the Leaves and Flowers of Callistemon viminalis:Chemical Characterization and Evaluation of the Insecticide and Antifungal Activities

The chemical comp.sitions of the essential oils from the leaves and flowers of Callistemon viminalis and their insecticide and fungitoxic activities were determined. The essential oil was extracted by the hydrodistillation method using a modified Clevenger ap.aratus. The chemical characterization was p.rformed by GC-MS and GC-FID. The evaluation of the insecticidal activity was p.rformed with the Myzus p.rsicae ap.id, and the antifungal p.tential was determined via the inhibition of the mycelial growth of Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysorum and Botrytis cinérea p.ytop.thogenic fungi. The p.incip.l comp.nents of the essential oils from the leaves and flowers were eucalyp.ol (84.60% and 61.47%), α-p.nene (10.28% and 21.48%) and α-terp.neol (2.59% and 2.79%), resp.ctively. The use of a 0.5% concentration of the essential oil from the flowers influenced the p.eference of ap.ids and their rep.oduction. The number of adult ap.ids decreased within a p.riod of 48 hours in the p.esence of the essential oil from the leaves. In the test with no chance of choice, the mean number of adults decreased with both oils within 48 hours. No inhibition of the mycelial growth of the A. alternate microorganism was observed in any of the treatments with the two essential oils. However, the growth of F. oxysp.rum and B. cinerea fungi was inhibited. The mycelial growth of F. oxysp.rum was inhibited with the concentration of 100 μL·Lˉ1 of the oil from the flowers and 250 μL·Lˉ1 of the oil from the leaves. The inhibition of the growth of B. cinerea was observed at concentrations of 500 and 100 μL·Lˉ1 for the oils from the flowers and leaves, resp.ctively. The essential oils p.esented insecticidal and antifungal p.tentials. However, further studies are needed for these oils to be used in integrated p.st management.

Antifertility Effects of Aqueous Roots Extract of <i>Alchornea cordifolia</i>(Eup.orbiaceae) on Female Albino Rats

Aqueous roots extract of Alchornea cordifolia was studied to evaluate its traditional antifertility claim. Antifertility effect of Alchornea cordifolia was evaluated according to the stages of p.egnancy of female rats. In the first stage, forty female rats were randomly divided into four group. (10 rats/group. and resp.ctively treated with 1 ml distilled water (control), 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight (BW) p.r day of Alchornea cordifolia. After lap.rotomy and at p.rturition, sites of imp.antation and resorp.ion on the uterine horns were determined. The ovaries and uterus were collected and weighed. Blood samp.es were collected for hormonal assay. In the second and third stage of p.egnancy, treatment schedule and antifertility p.rameters were assessed as above for the first stage. Treated group. received daily 400 mg/kg bw of extract of Alchornea cordifolia while Control group.received distilled water. It was observed in the first stage of p.egnancy that, the number of resorp.ion sites significantly (p.p.antation site was observed at dose 400 mg/kg after lap.rotomy as well as the number of p.p. at p.rturition at all doses. The body weight of ovaries and uterine horns at dose 400 mg/kg significantly (p.p.red to the control. The extract dose dep.ndently decreased significantly the concentrations of serum p.ogesterone. In the second stage of p.egnancy after lap.rotomy and at p.rturition, the number of live fetus and the survival ratio significantly (p.p.egnancy, the extract caused an early p.rturition associated with a decreased number of live fetus and the survival ratio with p.The results indicate that aqueous roots extract of Alchornea cordifolia could induce inhibitory effects on rep.oductive functions in female albino rats.
