In this paper, a series of chiral non-symmetrical liquid crystals （nBA-chol） consisting of a cholesteryl ester moiety as chiral entity and a biphenyl aromatic core with different terminal alkyl chain has been synthesized and investigated for their liquid crystalline properties. Effects of numbers of methylene units in the terminal alkyl chain on the phase transition temperatures and on the temperature-dependent pitch lengths of the chiral liquid crystals have been studied. The long terminal alkyl chain tends to exhibit smectic A mesophases. The pitch lengths of the cholesteric mesophases of the chiral liquid crystals decrease with increasing temperature and with increasing numbers of methylene units in the terminal alkyl chain, respectively.

Developing earth-abundant electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is important for the sustainable energy ***,efficient and stable heterocatalysts consisting of crystalline-amorphous M@MN_(x)(M=Co,Fe,Ni)encapsulated in N-doped carbon layers supported with N-doped graphene sheets(denoted as M@MN_(x)@NC-NG)are synthesized by facile hydrothermal reaction and nitridation *** the nitriding process,metal ions in M(tzbc)_2(H_(2)O)_4(tzbc=4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzoic acid)complexes are reduced to crystalline M cores,accompanied by the formation of amorphous MN_(x)shells;the tzbc ligands are insitu carbonized to form outermost N-doped carbon(NC)layers that connect with inner MN_(x)via M-N-C motifs inherited from the complex precursors and inhibit the transition of MN_(x)from amorphous to crystalline *** Co@CoN_(x)@NC-NG catalyst exhibits excellent HER activity with small overpotentials of 45 and 64 mV at a cathode current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2)and low Tafel slopes of 40 and 85 mV·dec^(-1)in 0.5 mol·L^(-1)H_(2)SO_4 and1.0 mol·L^(-1)KOH electrolytes,*** Co@CoN_(x)@NC-NG retains 97%of the initial overpotential after 100,000 s in both acidic and alkaline *** outstanding HER performance originates from the crystalline-amorphous Co@CoN_(x)that redistributes electrons around the heterointerfaces,facilitating the conversion process of H^(+)/H_(2)O to hydrogen and thereby promoting HER *** outermost NC layers serve as the armor of Co@CoN_(x),and graphene nanosheets act as carriers of egg-like Co@CoN_(x)@NC and conduction paths for electron shuttles,ensuring stable and continuous electrocatalytic hydrogen production.

Miniaturization of Frequency Selective Surface's ( FSS's) size is significant for its application in the limited space. In this paper, a novel methodology for designing low-profile FSS is discussed, and a corresponding multi-layer structure with lumped elements for band-pass response is presented. Based on the equivalent circuit theory,the inductive designed center layer is firstly discussed. Then different numbers of additional capacitive designed layers are added and their performances are presented. Finally,the lumped elements are added both between adjacent layers and between adjacent cells of the additional layers so that the miniaturization performance can be further improved. The simulations for each structure in waves of different polarizations and incident angles are conducted,and the results are presented,which demonstrate the claimed characteristics of the proposed structure.

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs) and hybrid capacitors(SIHCs) have garnered significant attention in energy storage due to their inherent advantages,including high energy density,cost-effectiveness,and enhanced ***,developing high-performance anode materials to improve sodium storage performa nce still remains a major ***,a facile one-pot method has been developed to fabricate a hybrid of MoSeTe nanosheets implanted within the N,F co-doped honeycomb carbon skeleton(MoSeTe/N,F@C).Experimental results demonstrate that the incorporation of large-sized Te atoms into MoSeTe nanosheets enlarges the layer spacing and creates abundant anion vacancies,which effectively facilitate the insertion/extraction of Na^(+) and provide numerous ion adsorption sites for rapid surface capacitive ***,the heteroatoms N,F co-doped honeycomb carbon skeleton with a highly conductive network can restrain the volume expansion and boost reaction kinetics within the *** anticipated,the MoSeTe/N,F@C anode exhibits high reversible capacities along with exceptional cycle *** coupled with Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)@C(NVPF@C) to form SIB full cells,the anode delivers a reversible specific capacity of 126 mA h g^(-1) after 100 cycles at 0.1 A g^(-1).Furthermore,when combined with AC to form SIHC full cells,the anode demonstrates excellent cycling stability with a reversible specific capacity of50 mA h g^(-1) keeping over 3700 cycles at 1.0 A g^(-1).In situ XRD,ex situ TEM characterization,and theoretical calculations(DFT) further confirm the reversibility of sodium storage in MoSeTe/N,F@C anode materials during electrochemical reactions,highlighting their potential for widespread practical *** work provides new insights into the promising utilization of advanced transition metal dichalcogenides as anode materials for Na^(+)-based energy storage devices.

Competitive oxidation behavior of Ni-based superalloy GH4738 at extreme temperature

A high thrust-to-weight ratio poses challenges to the high-temperature performance of Ni-based superalloys. The oxidation behavior of GH4738 at extreme temperatures has been investigated by isothermal and non-isothermal experiments. As a result of the competitive diffusion of alloying elements, the oxide scale included an outermost porous oxide layer (OOL), an inner relatively dense oxide layer (IOL), and an internal oxide zone (IOZ), depending on the temperature and time. A high temperature led to the formation of large voids at the IOL/IOZ interface. At 1200℃, the continuity of the Cr-rich oxide layer in the IOL was destroyed, and thus, spallation occurred. Extension of oxidation time contributed to the size of Al-rich oxide particles with the increase in the IOZ. Based on this finding,the oxidation kinetics of GH4738 was discussed, and the corresponding oxidation behavior at 900-1100℃ was predicted.

Synthesis and Enhanced Acetone-sensing Properties of Ordered Large-pore Mesoporous Nickel Oxides with Ultrathin Crystalline Frameworks

Acetone is a tracer for monitoring air quality and a potential breath maker for diabetes. It remains a great challenge for current portable sensors to sensitively and selectively detect acetone at low-ppb (part per billion) level. Herein, we present an ordered mesoporous nickel oxide (NiO) with both large mesopores and ultrathin crystalline frameworks for the detection of low-ppb acetone. The ordered mesoporous NiO replicas with predominant large mesopores of 11 nm, high specific surface areas of 121–128 m2/g and ultrathin crystalline frameworks of 5 nm were synthesized by the nanocasting method and the crystalline properties of NiO frameworks were adjusted by changing the annealing temperature from 300℃ to 750℃, which resulted in different contents of oxygen deficient on the surface of ultrathin frameworks. The gas-sensing properties for all the NiO samples were investigated and the ordered large-pore mesoporous NiO (NiO-600) with maximum oxygen deficient obtained at 600℃ exhibited the highest response (R_(gas)/R_(air)−1=2.9) toward acetone (1 ppm, ppm: part per million), which is 3.4 and 30 times larger than those for common mesoporous NiO obtained at 300℃ and bulk NiO. Notably, a low detection limit (2 ppb), good selectivity and cycling stability were also observed in NiO-600.

Coordination polymerization of renewable β-ocimene has been investigated using asymmetric diiminophosphinate lutetium complex1, β-diketiminate yttrium complex 2, bis(phosphino)carbazolide yttrium complex 3, half-sandwich benzyl fluorenyl scandium complex 4 and pyridyl-methylene-fluorenyl rare-metal complexes 5a–5c. Complexes 1, 4 and 5a–5c show trans-1,2-regioselectivities and high activities, of which 5c exhibits excellent isoselectivity(mmmm>99%). Conversely, complexes 2 and 3 promote β-ocimene polymerization to produce isotactic cis-1,4-polyocimenes(cis-1,4>99%, mm>95%). Diblock copolymers cis-1,4-PIP-block-cis-1,4-POc and cis-1,4-PBD-block-cis-1,4-POc are obtained in one-pot reactions of β-ocimene with isoprene and butadiene using complex 3. Epoxidation and hydroxylation of polyocimene afford functionalized polyolefins with enhanced T_(g)(from-20 ℃ to 79 ℃ and 74 ℃) and hydrophilicity.

With the successful application and breakthrough of deep learning technology in image segmentation,there has been continuous development in the field of seismic facies interpretation using convolutional neural *** intelligent and automated methods significantly reduce manual labor,particularly in the laborious task of manually labeling seismic ***,the extensive demand for training data imposes limitations on their wider *** overcome this challenge,we adopt the UNet architecture as the foundational network structure for seismic facies classification,which has demonstrated effective segmentation results even with small-sample training ***,we integrate spatial pyramid pooling and dilated convolution modules into the network architecture to enhance the perception of spatial information across a broader *** seismic facies classification test on the public data from the F3 block verifies the superior performance of our proposed improved network structure in delineating seismic facies *** analysis against the traditional UNet model reveals that our method achieves more accurate predictive classification results,as evidenced by various evaluation metrics for image ***,the classification accuracy reaches an impressive 96%.Furthermore,the results of seismic facies classification in the seismic slice dimension provide further confirmation of the superior performance of our proposed method,which accurately defines the range of different seismic *** approach holds significant potential for analyzing geological patterns and extracting valuable depositional information.
