Glaciers have retreated and shrunk in High Mountain Asia since the mid-20th century because of global warming,leading to glacier instability and hazardous iceesnow ***,the complex relationship between iceesnow avalanches and factors such as climate and potential triggers are difficult to understand because of the lack of observational ***,we addressed iceesnow avalanches on the Annapurna Ⅱ glacier in Nepal,Central *** constructed an iceesnow avalanche history using long-term multi-source remote sensing images(1988-2021)and mapped the velocity fields of glaciers using cross-correlation analysis on SAR and optical ***,we investigated the impact of climate change and earthquakes on the frequency and size of iceesnow *** results demonstrate that the frequency of iceesnow avalanches has increased from 10 in 1988 to 27 in 2020,but the average area of iceesnow avalanche deposits has decreased by approximately 70%,from 3.4×10^(5) m^(2) in 1988 to 1.2×10^(5) m^(2) in *** evolutionary characteristic of ice avalanches is linked to the impact of glacier retreat(reduction in ice material supply)and increased activity under climate *** glacier movement velocity controls the size of iceesnow avalanches and can be set as an indicator for iceesnow avalanche *** the Annapurna Ⅱ glacier,an iceesnow avalanche occurred when the glacier velocities were greater than 1.5 m d^(-1).These results offer insights into iceesnow avalanche risk assessment and prediction in high-mountain areas,particularly in regions characterised by dense glacier distribution.

Effects of air damping on quality factors of different probes in tapping mode atomic force microscopy

The AFM probe in tapping mode is a continuous process of energy dissipation,from moving away from to intermittent contact with the sample *** present,studies regarding the energy dissipation mechanism of this continuous process have only been reported sporadically,and there are no systematic explanations or experimental verifications of the energy dissipation mechanism in each stage of the continuous *** quality factors can be used to characterize the energy dissipation in TM-AFM *** this study,the vibration model of the microcantilever beam was established,coupling the vibration and damping effects of the microcantilever *** quality factor of the vibrating microcantilever beam under damping was derived,and the air viscous damping when the probe is away from the sample and the air squeeze film damping when the probe is close to the sample were *** addition,the mechanism of the damping effects of different shapes of probes at different tip–sample distances was *** accuracy of the theoretical simplified model was verified using both experimental and simulation methods.A clearer understanding of the kinetic characteristics and damping mechanism of the TM-AFM was achieved by examining the air damping dissipation mechanism of AFM probes in the tapping mode,which was very important for improving both the quality factor and the imaging quality of the TM-AFM *** study’s research findings also provided theoretical references and experimental methods for the future study of the energy dissipation mechanism of micro-nano-electromechanical systems.

Modulating the immune microenvironment to establish sustained positive feedback within immune pathways represents a promising avenue for the treatment of ***,the precise and efficient delivery of therapeutic systems to the subcutaneous basal layer to modulate immune disorders is a major challenge in the treatment of autoimmune *** this project,we introduce a dual-functional microneedle(DF-MN)designed to combine MNs with multiple release kinetics and immunotherapy,the programmed treatment is achieved through segmented design of the MN structure,realizing the unification of rapid and long-lasting treatment of autoimmune *** vivo imaging results showed that GelMA@M-CSF showed fluorescent signals after 5 days of delivery to subcutaneous tissues,whereas HA@IL-13 showed minimal fluorescent signals after 2 *** multistage release behavior of MNs and the diffusion mechanism of drugs were explained at the molecular level,in combination with coarse-grained molecular ***,DF-MN can successfully induce macrophage reprogramming in vitro and ameliorate overall symptoms in a psoriasis mice model,suggesting that it has the potential to be an effective strategy for the treatment of psoriasis and portends to be a transformative platform for the treatment of other autoimmune diseases.

Tin disulfide(SnS_(2)),due to large interlayer spacing and high theoretical capacity,is regarded as a prospective anode material for lithium-ion ***,the poor electron conductivity of SnS_(2) and huge volumetric change during the lithiation/delithiation process lead to a rapid capacity decay of the battery,hindering its *** address these issues,herein,SnS_(2) is in-situ grown on the surface of carbon nanotubes(CNT)and then encapsulated with a layer of porous amorphous carbon(CNT/SnS_(2)@C)by simple solvothermal and further carbonization *** synergistic effect of CNT and porous carbon layer not only enhances the electrical co nductivity of SnS_(2) but also limits the huge volumetric change to avoid the pulverization and detachment of SnS_(2).Density functional theo ry calculations show that CNT/SnS_(2)@C has high Li^(+)adsorption and lithium storage capacity achieving high reaction ***,cells with the CNT/SnS_(2)@C anode exhibit a high lithium storage capacity of 837mAh/g after 100 cycles at 0.1 A/g and retaining a capacity of 529.8 mAh/g under 1.0 A/g after 1000 *** study provides a fundamental understanding of the electrochemical processes and beneficial guidance to design high-performance SnS_(2)-based anodes for LIBs.

An epidermal electrode based triboelectric walking energy harvester for wearable wireless sensing applications

Harvesting bio-kinetic energy using a triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG) is one of the promising routes to solve the sustainable energy supply problem for wearable electronics. However, additional materials, complex fabricating processes or specific mechanical structures are needed for existing TENGs to harvest bio-kinetic energy. Besides, they need to be tightly attached to the human body, which may result in detachment and malfunction under tense human motion. Herein, an intrinsic epidermal electrode-based TENG(E-TENG) is proposed to harvest human walking energy. The wearing shoes and ground are used as tribo-materials, and the human epidermis is used as the back electrode of the E-TENG. Compared with the traditional TENGs,the E-TENG does not need any additional tribo-materials and complex mechanical structures. Under optimal conditions, the voltage output of E-TENG can reach 914 V. E-TENG has been used as a self-powered warning sensor and pedometer sensor for demonstration. Furthermore, E-TENG based self-powered wireless sensor system has been developed using a newly designed micro energy electronic switch(MEES). Ambient ultraviolet intensity, temperature and humidity information can be monitored and then transmitted to mobile phone every 3.5 min, demonstrating great potential for widespread wearable applications.

Synergistic effects of multiscale TiC and dual-phase structure on tensile properties of particle-reinforced steel

The conventional melting methods were used to obtain in situ TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase steel,followed by hot rolling and heat treatment *** aim was to investigate the effect of TiC particles on the fracture behavior of dual-phase steel at different annealing temperatures,by analyzing the microstructure and tensile behavior of the multiscale TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase *** results showed that TiC particles precipitated in the as-cast microstructure of dual-phase steel were distributed along the grain *** hot rolling,the grain boundary-like morphology of the micron-sized TiC particles was disrupted,and the particles became more refined and evenly distributed in the *** tensile tests revealed that the strength of the TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase steel increased with increasing martensite content,while the elongation *** results were similar to those of conventional *** addition of 1 vol.%multiscale TiC particles improved the strength of the dual-phase steel but did not affect elongation of the *** and holes were primarily concentrated around the TiC particles rather than at the interface of martensite and *** main causes of crack sprouting were TiC particle interface cracking and TiC particle internal ***,the study demonstrated the potential of multiscale TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase steel as a strong and tough *** refined distribution of TiC particles in the matrix improved the strength of the material without compromising its *** results also highlighted the importance of careful selection of reinforcement particles to avoid detrimental effects on the fracture behavior of the material.

Effect of Acupuncture on Endometrial Blood Flow in Women Undergoing in vitro Fertilization Embryo Transfer: A Single Blind, Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective: To evaluate the effect of manual acupuncture on endometrial blood flow parameters by three-dimensional(3D) power Doppler ultrasound in women undergoing in vitro fertilization embryo transfer(IVF-ET). Methods: Seventy patients undergoing IVF-ET were equally randomized into traditional or sham acupuncture treatment group for totally 4 days(from the day of oocyte aspiration to the day of embryo transfer) of treatment by random envelope method at the Reproductive Medicine Center and Outpatient Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medicine College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2013 to December 2015. Patients in the traditional acupuncture group accepted traditional acupuncture methods with manual acupuncture, and Zhongji(CV3), Qihai(CV 6), Sanyinjiao(SP6), Taichong(LR 3), Tianshu(ST 25), Guilai(ST 29) and Zusanli(ST 36) were chosen. Patients at the sham acupuncture group accepted shallow acupuncture methods at 4 non-meridian points at each shoulder and upper arm. Outcome measures included endometrial ultrasonic indices such as vascularization index(VI), flow index(FI) and vascularization flow index(VFI), endometrial thickness and volume, subendometrial VI(sVI), subendometrial FI(sFI), subendometrial VFI(sVFI), implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, abortion rate, live birth rate and number of live births. Results: Finally, 34 patients in the traditional acupuncture group and 35 in the sham acupuncture group completed this trial. VI, FI and VFI of the traditional acupuncture group were significantly higher than those in the sham acupuncture group(P0.05). Hydrogen-rich surface of MoC catalysts for efficient CO_(2) hydrogenation induced by a coupled hydrogen donator

Direct CO_(2) hydrogenation offers an important strategy for promoting the global carbon balance,but high thermodynamic and kinetic stability of CO_(2) has restricted its applicability to only a handful of industrial ***,we introduce a proof-of-concept application of the electron-rich Pt surface to promote hydrogen donation for electron-rich MoC particles acting as hydrogen acceptors,thereby constructing hydrogen-rich surface of MoC active ***,the formed hydrogen-rich and electronrich surface could greatly decrease reaction activation energy to boost the efficient CO_(2) hydrogenation into formic acid over the MoC *** optimized MoC@NC/Pt-0.1(NC:nitrogen-doped carbon)catalyst exhibits a high turnover frequency(TOF)value of 1.2 h^(−1) at a lower temperature of 60℃and a TOF of 24.2 h^(−1) under standard reaction conditions widely used in the literature,exceeding 7 times of MoC@NC catalyst and surpassing the benchmark classical non-noble metal active center-based heterogeneous catalyst.

P-and SV-wave dispersion and attenuation in saturated microcracked porous rock with aligned penny-shaped fractures

P-and SV-wave dispersion and attenuation have been extensively investigated in saturated poroelastic media with aligned ***,there are few existing models that incorporate the multiple wave attenuation mechanisms from the microscopic scale to the macroscopic ***,in this work,we developed a unified model to incorporate the wave attenuation mechanisms at different scales,which includes the microscopic squirt flow between the microcracks and pores,the mesoscopic wave-induced fluid flow between fractures and background(FB-WIFF),and the macroscopic Biot's global flow and elastic scattering(ES)from the *** Tang's modified Biot's theory and the mixed-boundary conditions,we derived the exact frequency-dependent solutions of the scattering problem for a single penny-shaped fracture with oblique incident P-and *** then developed theoretical models for a set of aligned fractures and randomly oriented fractures using the Foldy *** results indicated that microcrack squirt flow considerably influences the dispersion and attenuation of P-and SV-wave *** coupling effects of microcrack squirt flow with the FB-WIFF and ES of fractures cause much higher velocity dispersion and attenuation for P waves than for SV *** oriented fractures substantially reduce the attenuation caused by the FB-WIFF and ES,particularly for the ES attenuation of SV *** a comparison with existing models in the limiting cases and previous experimental measurements,we validated our model.
