Background Vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） is one of major mediators of angiogenesis and survival factor in some tissue, however, its direct effects on cardiomyocytes remain poorly understood. Methods Rat neonatal ventricular myocytes were cultured in vitro. Akt phosphorylation was measured by Western blotting; the expression of stromal cell-derived factor α（SDF-1α）/CXCR4 axis was evaluated by real-time PCR and Western blotting. LY294002 and AMD3100 were used to interfere with the signaling of VEGF and SDF-1α/CXCR4 axis. Cardiac myocytes viability and injury were evaluated by trypan blue staining and lactate dehydrogenase （LDH） release. Results Treatment of neonatal rat ventricular myocytes with VEGF induced phosphorylation of Akt in a dose and FIk-1 dependent manner. VEGF attenuated H202 induced cardiac myocyte death. The phosphoinositol-3-kinase （PI3K） inhibitor, LY294002 and FIk-1 antibody abolished the beneficial effects of VEGF on H202 induced cell death. In the mean time SDF-1α-CXCR4 axis was up-regulated by VEGF through PI3K-Akt signaling and contributed to the protective effects of VEGF on H202 induced cell death. Interestingly, SDF-1α also promoted production of VEGF in cultured cardiac myocytes and LY294002 reversed the up-reguLation of VEGF induced by SDF-1α. Conclusion VEGF has direct protective effects on cardiomyocytes; a crosstalk between VEGF and SDF-1α through PI3K-Akt serves a survival role in cardiomvocvtes in vitro.

Background Nitric oxide （NO） is a biologically active molecule which has been reported to protect the heart against ischemia and reperfusion injury in different species. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that nitric oxide may induce the expression of heat shock protein 72 （HSP72） which may protect the heart against ischemia.Methods Rabbits were given intravenous saline or S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine （SNAP）, a nitric oxide donor, or Zaprinast, an inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate （GMP）-phosphodiesterase, which may increase myocardial cyclic GMP content. Twenty-four hours later, the rabbits were either sampled to measure HSP72, or induced with a 30-minute coronary occlusion followed by a 120-minute reperfusion, and then the infarct size was measured. Meanwhile, chelerythrine （CHE, an inhibitor of protein kinase C） was given intravenously 5 minutes before SNAP injection and the effect on HSP72 expression and infarct size was determined.Results Twenty-four hours after pretreatment, immunoblotting showed HSP72 expression increased in the SNAP group compared with control groups, and this was blocked by CHE. Myocardial infarct size in the SNAP group was smaller than that of the control group （（32.4±5.8）% vs （51.1±4.7）%, P 〈0.05）. Pretreated with CHE abolished the infarct size-limiting effect of SNAP （（46.0±5.1）%）. Pretreatment with Zaprinast neither induced HSP72 expression nor reduced infarct size （（55.4±5.4）%）.Conclusion NO induced HSP72 expression and a delayed protection to the heart via the activities of protein kinase C by a cyclic GMP-independent pathway.

Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells （MSCs） for myocardial reconstruction has shown promise in both animal models and human phase 1 clinical studies. Vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） is a strong therapeutic agent for treating ischaemia by inducing angiogenesis. The feasibility of ex vivo MSCs mediated gene transfer is documented. Matsumoto and colleagues have recently reported genetically engineered MSCs carrying VEGF165 delivery for revascularization in a model of acute myocardial infarction （MI）. The promising data from our laboratory in both angiogenesis and MSCs transplantation in cunicular heart model of acute MI have prompted us to attempt the combined and simultaneous application of the two strategies.

Grain formation is fundamental for crop yield but is vulnerable to abiotic and biotic *** grain production is threatened by the false smut fungus Ustilaginoidea virens,which specifically infects rice floral organs,disrupting fertilization and seed ***,little is known about the molecular mechanisms of the ***-rice interaction and the genetic basis of floral ***,we report that *** secretes a cytoplasmic effector,UvCBP1,to facilitate infection of rice ***,UvCBP1 interacts with the rice scaffold protein OsRACK1A and competes its interaction with the reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase OsRBOHB,leading to inhibition of reactive oxygen species(ROS)*** the analysis of natural variation revealed no OsRACK1A variants that could avoid being targeted by UvCBP1,expression levels of OsRACK1A are correlated with field resistance against *** in rice *** of OsRACK1A restores the OsRACK1A-OsRBOHB association and promotes OsRBOHB phosphorylation to enhance ROS production,conferring rice floral resistance to *** without yield *** together,our findings reveal a new pathogenic mechanism mediated by an essential effector from a flower-specific pathogen and provide a valuable genetic resource for balancing disease resistance and crop yield.

We investigate high time resolution data obtained by the Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor(GECAM)during the flare event on 2022 April 21 at 01:52 *** subpeaks with durations of 4-6 s have been detected in the hard X-ray precursor phase,and the key feature is that they appear in pairs and seem like double-peak *** subpeaks are rarely observed in hard X-ray band and confirmed by the microwave obtained by Nobeyama Radio Polarimeters(NoRP)and Radio Solar Telescope Network(RSTN).While an exponential function can describe the continuum component of the time profile from the precursor to part of the impulsive *** periods of quasi-periodic pulsations(QPPs)are detected to be about 7.3 and 12.8 s for the precursor and impulsive phase,respectively,with at least 95%confidence *** paired QPPs are assumed to be double-peak QPPs and then the scenario of current loop coalescence model is found to be in good agreement with our *** precursor phase can be interpreted as the oscillating coalescence of two islands,while the impulsive phase can be interpreted as more islands to coalesce one by one to form larger islands.

The Omicron variant of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS‑CoV‑2)infected a substantial proportion of Chinese population,and understanding the factors underlying the severity of the disease and fatality is valuable for future prevention and clinical *** recruited 64 patients with invasive ventilation for COVID-19 and performed metatranscriptomic sequencing to profile host transcriptomic profiles,plus viral,bacterial,and fungal content,as well as virulence factors and examined their relationships to 28-day mortality were *** addition,the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)samples from invasive ventilated hospital/community-acquired pneumonia patients(HAP/CAP)sampled in 2019 were included for *** analysis revealed that all Omicron strains belong to BA.5 and BF.7 sub-lineages,with no difference in 28-day mortality between *** to HAP/CAP cohort,invasive ventilated COVID-19 patients have distinct host transcriptomic and microbial signatures in the lower respiratory tract;and in the COVID-19 non-survivors,we found significantly lower gene expressions in pathways related viral processes and positive regulation of protein localization to plasma membrane,higher abundance of opportunistic pathogens including bacterial Alloprevotella,Caulobacter,Escherichia-Shigella,Ralstonia and fungal Aspergillus sydowii and Penicillium *** analysis further revealed significant associations between host immune responses and microbial compositions,besides synergy within viral,bacterial,and fungal *** study presents the relationships of lower respiratory tract microbiome and transcriptome in invasive ventilated COVID-19 patients,providing the basis for future clinical treatment and reduction of fatality.

The solar X-ray and Extreme Ultraviolet Imager(X-EUVI),developed by the changchun Institute of Optics,Fine Mechanics and Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences(CIOMP),is the first space-based solar X-ray and Extreme ultraviolet(EUV)imager of China loaded on the Fengyun-3E(FY-3E)satellite supported by the China Meteorological Administration(CMA)for solar *** started work on July 11,2021,X-EUVI has obtained many solar *** instrument employs an innovative dual-band design to monitor a much larger temperature range on the Sun,which covers 0.6-8.0 nm in the X-ray region with six channels and 19.5 nm in the EUV region.X-EUVI has a field of view of 42′,an angular resolution of 2.5″per pixel in the EUV band and an angular resolution of 4.1″per pixel in the X-ray *** instrument also includes an X-ray and EUV irradiance sensor(X-EUVS)with the same bands as its imaging optics,which measures the solar irradiance and regularly calibrates the solar *** radiometric calibration of X-EUVS on the ground has been completed,with a calibration accuracy of 12%.X-EUVI is loaded on the FY-3E satellite and rotates relative to the Sun at a uniform ***-field calibration is conducted by utilizing successive rotation solar *** agreement between preliminarily processed X-EUVI images and SDO/AIA and Hinode/XRT images indicates that X-EUVI and the data processing algorithm operate properly and that the data from X-EUVI can be applied to the space weather forecast system of CMA and scientific investigations on solar activity.

Realtime trigger and localization of bursts are the key functions of GECAM,an all-sky gamma-ray monitor launched on 2020 December *** developed a multifunctional trigger and localization software operating in the CPU of the GECAM Electronic *** onboard software has the following features:high trigger efficiency for real celestial bursts with a suppression of false triggers caused by charged particle bursts and background fluctuation,dedicated localization algorithm optimized for both short and long bursts,and low time latency of the trigger information which is downlinked through the Global Short Message Communication service of the global BeiDou navigation *** paper provides a detailed description of the design and development of the trigger and localization software system for *** covers the general design,workflow,the main functions,and the algorithms used in the *** paper also includes on-ground trigger tests using simulated gamma-ray bursts generated by a dedicated X-ray tube,as well as an overview of the performance for real celestial bursts during its in-orbit operation.

The Large sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope（LAMOST） general survey is a spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately half of the celestial sphere and collect 10 million spectra of stars, galaxies and QSOs. Objects in both the pilot survey and the first year regular survey are included in the LAMOST DR1. The pilot survey started in October 2011 and ended in June 2012, and the data have been released to the public as the LAMOST Pilot Data Release in August 2012. The regular survey started in September 2012, and completed its first year of operation in June 2013. The LAMOST DR1 includes a total of 1202 plates containing 2 955 336 spectra, of which 1 790 879 spectra have observed signalto-noise ratio（SNR） ≥ 10. All data with SNR ≥ 2 are formally released as LAMOST DR1 under the LAMOST data policy. This data release contains a total of 2 204 696 spectra, of which 1 944 329 are stellar spectra, 12 082 are galaxy spectra and 5017 are quasars. The DR1 not only includes spectra, but also three stellar catalogs with measured parameters： late A,FGK-type stars with high quality spectra（1 061 918 entries）, A-type stars（100 073 entries）, and M-type stars（121 522 entries）. This paper introduces the survey design, the observational and instrumental limitations, data reduction and analysis, and some caveats. A description of the FITS structure of spectral files and parameter catalogs is also provided.
