The aim of this paper is to defend Searle＇s view on the semantic role that descriptions associated with proper names play in real contexts. Through an analysis of Kripke＇s critique of Searle＇s views, I reach the conclusion that Kripke;s criticism is based upon a misinterpretation of Searle＇s ideas. Searle tried to answer the question ＂what is the object named as such？＂ That is different from the question that Kripke attributed to the descriptivists, i.e. ＂what are the necessary criteria to identify the referent of a name in every possible world？＂ I think Searle＇s question is also a question that Kripke＇s Causal Theory of Names has to answer, i.e. how a name transmits through a linguistic community.

The relation of Lp(the ratio P content in slag to P content in ferromanganese) and L,(the ratio Mn content in slag to Mn content in ferromanganese) with C content[C]in ferromanganese were tested by means of the equilibrium experiments of P and Mn between ferromanganese and BaO-BaF-MnO slag *** results show that there exists in ferromanganese an optimum C content[C]* corresponding to maximum Land minimum L> which is closely related to oxygen potential in the system and the activity of P in the *** control limits of oxygen potential in dephosphorization of ferromanganese are then *** theoretical limits and measures to improve ferromanganese dephosphorization with BaO-based slag are studied comprehensively based on previous research.

An efficient one-pot four-component reaction has been developed for the synthesis of 2,4-diarylcyclooctenopyridines, in moderate yields. This route is an effective modified two-step synthesis of Krohnke pyridine and involves a four-component tandem reaction of pyridinium bromide with aromatic aldehydes and cyclooctanone in a system of NHaOAc/HOAc under microwave irradiation.

The magnetic properties of a mixed spin-3/2 and spin-2 and a mixed spin-3/2 and spin-5/2 Ising ferromag- netic system with different anisotropies are studied by means of mean-field theory （MFT）. The dependence of the phase diagram on single-ion anisotropy strengths is studied too. In the mixed spin-3/2 and spin-2 Ising model, besides the second-order phase transition, the first order-disorder phase transition and the tricritical line are found. In the mixed spin-3/2 and spin-5/2 Ising model, there is no first-order transition and trieritical line.
