This article outlines the major scientific objectives of the SHui project that seeks to optimize soil and water use in agricultural systems in the EU and China,by considering major current scientific challenges in this ***(for Soil Hydrology research platform underpinning innovation to manage water scarcity in European and Chinese cropping systems)is large cooperative project that aims to provide significant advances through transdisciplinary research at multiple scales(plot,field,catchment and region).This paper explains our research platform of long-term experiments established at plot scale,approaches taken to integrate crop and hydrological models at field scale;coupled crop models and satellite-based observations at regional scales;decision support systems for specific farming situations;and the integration of these technologies to provide policy recommendations through socio-economic analysis of the impact of soil and water saving *** also outlines the training of stake-holders to develop a basic common curriculum despite the subject being distributed across different disciplines and *** such,this article provides a review of major challenges for improving soil and water use in EU and China as well as information about the potential to access information made available by SHui,and to allow others to engage with the project.

Comparison of the Palaeomagnetic Parameters of Non-Marine Jurassic-Cretaceous Boundary Sediments in Dorset(SW England),Hebei and Liaoning(NE China)—A Preliminary Study

The Purbeck beds in Dorset, the Tuchengzi Formation in western Liaoning Liaoning Province or the Houcheng Formation in northern Hebei Province are non-marine Jurassic/Cretaceous (J/K) boundary sequences. A Czech-China Inter-Governmental S&T Cooperation Project has been carried out to search for the non-marine J/K boundary in northern China and making international correlation with the Purbeck beds in southern England. The combination of palaeomagnetism and biostratigraphy in northern China and southern England localities proves that these distant places had similar climatic conditions and the same fauna during the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous. A preliminary joint research has shown a fruitful result in searching for the non-marine J/K boundary in northern China.

SWCNTs(single wall carbon nanotubes)are a universal additive that improves the properties of numerous base *** exceptional physical and chemical characteristics,such as superior conductivity to weight ratio,high flexibility,excellent temperature resistance,ultimate strength,and high length to diameter ratio(about 3,000 times)have been known for several decades since their discovery in 1991 by Japanese physicist Sumio ***,due to the previous lack of industrial approvals and independent researchers,only recently have extensive and significant data on health,safety and environment aspects been *** 2014,OCSiAl debuted the world’s first—and currently the only—facility for industry scale production of high-purity TUBALL?single wall carbon nanotubes at an economically viable *** unprecedented 10 tons production capacity developed SWCNTs into a technologically and economically feasible product for many industries,such as composites,plastics,coatings,elastomers,and *** is also the first company to initiate a variety of single wall carbon nanotubes certification procedures,helping to blaze a trail to further their widespread *** paper amasses the significant knowledge based on health,safety and environmental aspects of SWCNTs grounded on OCSiAl internal research findings,revealed results of industrial partners and various tests conducted by independent *** the latter are tests on themorphology and non-cytotoxicity of the TUBALL?SWCNT substance,as well as the results of the Buehler sensitizing assessment test and Ames test.
