In this review we study the nuclear pastas as they are expected to be formed in neutron star *** start with a study of the pastas formed in nuclear matter(composed of protons and neutrons),we follow with the role of the electron gas on the formation of pastas,and we then investigate the pastas in neutron star matter(nuclear matter embedded in an electron gas).Nuclear matter(NM)at intermediate temperatures(1 MeV≤T≤***),at saturation and and sub-saturation densities,and with proton content ranging from 30%to 50%was found to have liquid,gaseous and liquid-gas mixed *** isospin-dependent phase diagram was obtained along with the critical points,and the symmetry energy was calculated and compared to experimental data and other *** low temperatures(T≤1 MeV)NM produces crystal-like structures around satura-tion densities,and pasta-like structures at sub-saturation *** of the pasta structures were studied with cluster-recognition algorithms,caloric curve,the radial distribution function,the Lindemann coefficient,Kolmogorov statistics,Minkowski functionals;the symmetry energy of the pasta showed a connection with its *** star matter(NSM)is nuclear matter embedded in an electron *** electron gas is included in the calculation by the inclusion of an screened coulomb *** connect the NM pastas with those in neutron star matter(NSM),the role the strength and screening length of the coulomb interaction have on the formation of the pastas in NM was *** was found to exist even without the presence of the electron gas,but the effect of the coulomb interaction is to form more defined pasta structures,among other ***,it was determined that there is a minimal screening length for the developed structures to be independent of the cell *** star matter was found to have similar phases as NM,phase transitions,symmetry energy,structure function and thermal *** in NM,pasta f

Role of dup A in virulence of Helicobacter pylori

Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) is a gastric human pathogen associated with acute and chronic gastritis, 70% of all gastric ulcers, 85% of all duodenal ulcers, and both forms of stomach cancer, mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT) lymphoma and adenocarcinoma. Recently, attention has focused on possible relationship between presence of certain virulence factor and H. pylori-associated diseases. Some contradictory data between this bacterium and related disorders has been observed since not all the colonized individuals develop to severe disease. The reported diseases plausibility related to H. pylori specific virulence factors became an interesting story about this organism. Although a number of putative virulence factors have been identified including cytotoxin-associated gene a(cag A) and vac A, there are conflicting data about their actual participation as specific risk factor for H. pylori-related diseases. Duodenal ulcer promoting gene a(dup A) is a virulence factor of H. pylori that is highly associated with duodenal ulcer development and reduced risk of gastric cancer. The prevalence of dup A in H. pylori strains isolated from western countries is relatively higher than in H. pylori strains from Asian countries. current confusing epidemiological reports will continue unless future sophisticated and molecular studies provide data on functional and complete dup A cluster in H. pylori infected individuals. This paper elucidates available knowledge concerning role of dup A in virulence of H. pylori after a decade of its discovery.

Objective:To determine the polymorphisms of Interleukin-10(IL-10)(-592,-1082) in pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB)with and without type 2 diabetes(T2D).Methods:We studied a Mexican mestizo population of 37 patients with TB in remission(TBr) and 40 with active pulmonary TB (PTB),21 patients with TB + T2D.47 blood donors accepted,and 13 healthy health-care workers with tuberculin skin lest *** of IL-10 polymorphisms was performed by real-lime Polymerase chain ***:IL-10-592c/A presented in a greater proportion in healthy individuals than in patients with type 2 diabetes and TB in a not quite significant statistically ***-10-1082A/A presented more frequently in the group of patients with both diseases,not being statistically significant in comparison with the group of healthy subjects. conclusions:This study describes two important new ***,it reveals that the IL-10 (-592 A/A and -592 c/c) polymorphisms were found in a greater proportion in a group of patients with T2D and TB than in healthy ***,the study provides evidence that the(-1082 G/G) polymorphism presented with greater frequency in healthy individuals than in patients with both ol these diseases.

Over the last years,anatomical,electrophysiological and genetic studies have carefully dissected the pathways connecting the brain and the spinal *** and Kuypers（1968）described the organization of the descending motor pathways in the non-human primate spinal *** there are some differences between species regarding the precise anatomical location of each spinal pathway and the selective connectivity onto spinal interneurons and motoneurons, the pattern of organization described is con- served among the mammalian spinal cord （courtine et al., 2007）. Based on their description, the major descending motor pathways are grouped depending on their anatomical origin and their termi- nal distribution pattern in the spinal grey matter. The motor cortex projects corticospinal axons to the spinal cord, which mostly run in the contralateral cord and innervate the mid and dorsal grey matter neurons.

Phenotypic AScOD characterisations of ischaemic stroke in the young at an urban tertiary care centre

Background and purpose Stroke in young individuals is a serious public health *** study aimed to characterise the various phenotypes of ischaemic stroke in a young urban population(≤50 years old)using the AScOD classification system,which assigns a score to five stroke categories:atherosclerosis,small vessel disease(SVD),cardioembolism,other and *** each category,a numerical score represents the degree of causality attributed to the *** This retrospective study cohort was composed of patients from an urban tertiary care academic *** were selected by searching Get With the Guidelines database for adults≤50 years old with ischaemic *** study sample included 175 ischaemic strokes in 157 patients,with 16 subjects *** retrospective chart review,each stroke was scored according to the AScOD classification *** logistic regression analyses were performed to explore each AScOD category’s association with causal risk *** Of possible causal mechanisms,defined as receiving a grade 1 or 2,a cardiovascular aetiology was most prevalent(25.7%),followed by SVD(22.3%),and closely by atherosclerosis(21.1%).Of general phenotypes,defined as receiving a grade 1 or 2 or 3,atherosclerosis was the most prevalent(51.4%),followed by SVD(47.4%),cardioembolism(42.3%)and other(35.4%).31.6%of all strokes were of unclear *** between 45 and 50 years old were more likely to develop a cardioembolic or SVD stroke when compared with subjectsch to AScOD phenotyping,allowing several observations:(1)In patients with advanced atherosclerosis receiving the score A1,the vast majority had systemic atherosclerosis in multiple vascular territories;(2)the cardiac score c2(6),defined as a radiographic pattern highly suggestive of a central embolic source,may overestimate the prevalence of true cardiac disease;(3)incidental laboratory findings may detec

Macrobioerosion and Microbioerosion in Marine Molluscan Shells from Holocene and Modern Beaches (39°-40°S, South of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina)

The marine sediments of the area of Verde Peninsula - Jabali Island （39°28＇S/62°19%V-40°28＇ S/62°11＇W） Holocene in age （3-2 ky）, and modern beaches contain a significant amount of bioeroded mollusc shells. Fifteen sites were analyzed, in which 20.11% of the mollusc shells （2168 valves） presented bioerosion traces, in 54 species （30 bivalves and 24 gastropods）. Fourteen ichnogenera were reported： Entobia, Maeandropolydora, Iramena, caulostrepsis, Pennatichnus, Pinaceocladichnus, Trypanites, and Gastrochaenolites （Domichnia）, Gnathichnus and Radulichnus （Pascichnia）, Finichnus and centrichnus （Fixichnia）, Oichnus （Praedicnia）（macrobioerosion）, y Semidendrina （microbioerosion）, the latter is first reported in mollusc shells in Argentina. Eleven ichnospecies were identified Finichnus peristroma, Maeandropolydora sulcans, Gnathichnus pentax, Pinaceocladichnus onubensis, caulostrepsis taeniola, centrichnus eccentricus, Radulichnus inopinatus, Oichnus simplex, Oichnus paraboloides, Oichnus gradatus, and Gastrochaenolites torpedo （lithic remains）. The dominant ichnogenera in the Holocene deposits are Iramena, Entobia and Oichnus. The same ichnogenera are constant with different abundance in the modern beaches, and increasing representation of Pinaceocladichnus and Pennatichnus. The dominant ichnofacies in the Holocene deposits is Trypanites, revealing a benthonic marine community composed of cheilostome bryzoans, clionaid sponges, predator gastropods, regular echinoids, polychaete annelids, bivalves, thallophytas and fungi. Generally, the area was described as a sublittoral, low-energy, stable environment with high rate of oxygenation, and sandy bottoms, with rocky bottoms at Villalonga locality.

Fracture Response of Reinforced concrete Deep Beams Finite Element Investigation of Strength and Beam Size

This article presents a finite element analysis of reinforced concrete deep beams using nonlinear fracture mechanics. The article describes the development of a numerical model that includes several nonlinear processes such as compression and tension softening of concrete, bond slip between concrete and reinforcement, and the yielding of the longitudinal steel reinforcement. The development also incorporates the Delaunay refinement algorithm to create a triangular topology that is then transformed into a quadrilateral mesh by the quad-morphing algorithm. These two techniques allow automatic remeshing using the discrete crack approach. Nonlinear fracture mechanics is incorporated using the fictitious crack model and the principal tensile strength for crack initiation and propagation. The model has been successful in reproducing the load deflections, cracking patterns and size effects observed in experiments of normal and high-strength concrete deep beams with and without stirrup reinforcement.

Influence of steel jacket thickness on the Rc bridges' seismic vulnerability

The seismic demands of bridges subjected to strong earthquakes are mostly concentrated on piers. The main objective of this study is to assess the seismic vulnerability of retrofitted bridges with steel jackets. It analyzes the influence of the steel jacket thickness on the seismic capacity and demand of bridges. The bridges in study have two simple supported spans with superstructure composed by AASHTO type girders and a substructure formed with one circular pier over a stiff foundation. They are located on the Pacific coast of Mexico that is a zone of high seismicity. The bridges seismic capacity are evaluated through nonlinear static analyses and the shear force and displacement demands were determined using capacity spectra with a group of 10 real accelerograms from a subduction source. The response spectra were scaled to several peak ground accelerations(PGA) with the aim to estimate four damage scenarios linked each one to a probability of exceedance in a specific period, for return periods in the range of 72-3500 years that represent service level and maximum considered earthquake. Results show that the confining effect provided by the steel jackets substantially improves the seismic performance of the bridges piers. The increase of jacket thickness guides to important increments on columns base shear capacity, and the influence of the steel jacket thickness depends on the limit state and bridge slenderness ratio.
