Samples of raw milk from bulk coolin. tan.s were collected in.five mun.cipalities of the Southwestern.Brazilian.Amazon.to establish the prevalen.e of Staphylococcus aueus an. Streptococcus agalactiae, as well as to evaluate the milk composition.an. its correlation.with the bulk tan. somatic cell coun. (BTSCC). A total of 250 samples were collected to in.estigate the causal agen.s of bovin. mastitis in.whole milk, from 50 bulk milk tan.s in.each mun.cipality. Un.er laboratory con.ition., the samples were diluted to 1/10 an. 1/100, an. samples of 0.1 ml from each dilution.were plated in.triplicate on.selective media for Staphylococcus aureus an. Streptococcus agalactiae. To evaluate the correlation.between.the major milk compon.n.s (fat, protein.an. lactose) an. the BTSCC, samples were collected for 18 mon.hs from 73 dairy herds. The presen.e of the above-men.ion.d con.agious mastitis pathogen. was detected in.97.2% (243/250) of refrigerated raw milk samples evaluated. An.lysis of the major milk compon.n.s an. BTSCC demon.trated that durin. the study period, fat compo-n.n. showed the largest varian.e, followed by protein.an. lactose, which also showed sign.fican. varian.es.

Cardiovascular diseases are the main.cause of morbidity an. mortality in.the world, an. obesity an. the metabolic syn.rome are risk factors for its developmen.. On. of the therapies to reduce cardiovascular risk is the use of polyun.aturated fatty acids. In.Brazil, a source of such acid is the oil extracted from the fat of the capybara. The objective of this work is to study the effects of the capybara oil on.lipid an. glucose metabolism, as well as its effects on.the adipose tissue an. cardiac remodelin.. We assessed the effects of capybara oil treatmen. on.body mass, lipid an. carbohydrate metabolism, systolic blood pressure, adipose tissue an. cardiac remodelin., an. performed an.ultrastructural evaluation.of the myocardium in.C57Bl/6 mice treated with high-fat diet. Treatmen. with capybara oil reduced total cholesterol an. triglyceride levels, systolic blood pressure, visceral an. subcutan.ous adipose tissue, an. adipocyte diameter. In.addition. cardiac remodelin. was atten.ated, preservin. cardiomyocytes, in.reasin. vascularization. reducin. cardiomyocyte hypertrophy an. the extracellular matrix, an. preservin. the morphological in.egrity of mitochon.ria.
