AIM：To characterize the IFN-response and its modulation by the antiviral compound lamivudine in HBV- transfected HepG2.2.15 cells. METHODS： HepG2.2.15 and HepG2 cells were stimulated with various concentrations of IFN-α 2a in the presence or absence of lamivudine. Then, total RNA was extracted and analysed by customised cDNA arrays and northern blot for interferon-inducible genes （ISGs）. In addition, cellular proteins were extracted for EMSA and western blot. HBV replication was assessed by southern blot or ELISAs for HBsAg and HBeAg. RESULTS： Two genes （MxA, CigS） with completely abolished and 4 genes （IFITM1, -2, -3, and 6-16） with partially reduced IFN-responses were identified in HepG2.2.15 cells. In 2 genes （IFITM1, 6-16）, the response to IFN-α could be restored by treatment with lamivudine. This effect could not be explained by a direct modulation of the Jak/Stat signalling pathway since EMSA and western blot experiments revealed no suppression of Statl activation and ISGF3 formation after stimulation with IFN-α in HepG2.2.15 compared to HepG2 cells. CONCLUSION： These results are consistent with the assumption that chronic hepatitis B may specifically modulate the cellular response to IFN by a selective blockage of some ISGs. Antiviral treatment with lamivudine may partially restore ISG expressionby reducing HBV gene expression and replication.

A Comparative Assessment of Aerodynamic Models for Buffeting and Flutter of Long-Span Bridges

Wind-induced vibrations commonly represent the leading criterion in the design of long-span bridges. The aerodynamic forces in bridge aerodynamics are mainly based on the quasi-steady and linear unsteady theory. This paper aims to investigate different formulations of self-excited and buffeting forces in the time domain by comparing the dynamic response of a multi-span cable-stayed bridge during the critical erection condition. The bridge is selected to represent a typical reference object with a bluff con- crete box girder for large river crossings. The models are viewed from a perspective of model complexity, comparing the influence of the aerodynamic properties implied in the aerodynamic models, such as aerodynamic damping and stiffness, fluid memory in the buffeting and self-excited forces, aerodynamic nonlinearity, and aerodynamic coupling on the bridge response. The selected models are studied for a windspeed range that is typical for the construction stage for two levels of turbulence intensity. Furthermore, a simplified method for the computation of buffeting forces including the aerodynamic admittance is presented, in which rational approximation is avoided. The critical flutter velocities are also compared for the selected models under laminar flow.

3D printing is nowadays used for many applications far beyond pure rapid *** tools to prepare custom-made objects which may be highly complex,different 3D printing techniques have emerged into areas of application where the mechanical,thermal,optical and other properties have to meet high *** them,applications for space,*** microsatellites,make extreme demands regarding the stability under high ***,polymeric 3D printed materials have several advantages for space application in comparison with metal *** we thus investigate the impact of temperatures up to 85◦C and 185◦C,respectively,on typical 3D printing materials for fused deposition modeling or stereolithography(SLA)with inexpensive 3D *** materials are found to differ strongly in terms of mechanical properties and dimensional stability after the treatment at a higher temperature,with SLA resins and co-polyester showing the best dimensional stability,while acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene and SLA resin after long UV post-treatment has the best mechanical properties.

Replication processes for the manufacturing of micro/nano-structured components are characterized by a certain degree of precision and *** transcription loss,or replication fidelity,defines the geometrical and dimensional correspondence of micro/nano-structure from metal tool inserts into plastic patterned *** employment of a vast spectrum of micro/nano-structured geometries calls for methodologies that can be used for the estimation of replication *** study presents a number of product fingerprints,which propose multiple ways to characterize micro/nano structures in replication *** fidelity yielded values above 80%and up to 96%depending on the considered product fingerprints and their ***,a correlation of the product fingerprint with the process parameters was found to optimize the replication *** uncertainty accompanies the analysis of the product fingerprints,enabling a standardized,robust,and quantitative methodology for process learning,modeling,and optimization.

Changbaishan,an intraplate volcano,is characterized by an approximately 6 km wide summit caldera and last erupted in *** experienced a period of unrest between 2002 and *** activity developed in three main stages,including shield volcano(basalts),cone-construction(trachyandesites to trachytes with minor basalts),and caldera-forming stages(trachytes to comendites).This last stage is associated with one of the more energetic eruptions of the last millennium on Earth,the 946 CE,VEI 7 Millennium Eruption(ME),which emitted over 100 km^(3) of *** to other active calderas,the plumbing system of Changbaishan and its evolution mechanisms remain poorly ***,we merge new whole-rock,glass,mineral,isotopic,and geobarometry data with geophysical data and present a model of the plumbing *** results show that the volcano is characterized by at least three main magma reservoirs at different depths:a basaltic reservoir at the Moho/lower crust depth,an intermediate reservoir at 10-15 km depth,and a shallower reservoir at 0.5-3 km *** shallower reservoir was involved in the ME eruption,which was triggered by a fresh trachytic melt entering a shallower reservoir where a comenditic magma was *** trachytes and comendites originate from fractional crystallization processes and minor assimilation of upper crust material,while the less evolved melts assimilate lower crust ***-eruptive magma mingling occurred during the ME eruption *** magma reservoirs of the caldera-forming stage partly reactivate those of the cone-construction *** depth of the magma storage zones is controlled by the layering of the *** plumbing system of Changbaishan is vertically extensive,with crystal mush reservoirs renewed by the replenishment of new trachytic to trachyandesitic magma from *** other volcanoes,evidence of a basaltic recharge is *** interpretation of the signals preceding possible future erupt

The geometrization process of physics could involve, in addition to space and time in General Relativity (GR), even elementary particles. Our starting point is the formulation of an original hypothesis about particles, compatible with the basic assumptions of the Standard Model (SM): a massive particle is a geometric structure of a set of elastically coupled quantum oscillators that propagates along a line of a non-massive base field (in impulse eigenstate). We show that the propagation equation of an oscillation associated with the geometric shape representing an electron propagates following Dirac’s wave equation. Thus, one gives a foundation to a geometric model of massive particles (GMP) which would explain the physical origin of the mass, spin, and the magnetic moment of the electron.

In this paper, we show a new theoretical procedure for calculating the nucleonic mass values. We develop this procedure on the geometric representation of (u, d) quarks, these seen as golden structures of coupled quantum oscillators (Aureum Geometric Model or AGM). Using AGM, we also build the geometric structures of nucleons (p, n), determining their structure equations and spins. Thank AGM, coherent to QCD, new aspects of the Quantum Mechanics emerge, opening to anew descriptive paradigm in Particle Physics.
