Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic intestinal inflammatory disease characterized by a complex pathogenesis. Weizmannia coagulans has emerged as a potential probiotic for treating intestinal disorders. This study aimed to assess the therapeutic impact of Weizmannia coagulans BC99 on mice with DSS-induced UC and to elucidate its underlying mechanism of action. Our findings revealed that BC99 administration ameliorated symptoms associated with DSS-induced UC mice， as evidenced by reduced disease activity indexes， reversal of weight loss， and normalization of colon length. Furthermore， BC99 treatment also protected the integrity of the intestinal barrier through maintaining the antioxidant activity and the expression of tight junction proteins (ZO-1 and occluding)， and regulating the inflammatory cytokines in DSS-induced UC mice. Additionally， BC99 supplementation enhanced the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) through the proliferation of SCFA-producing bacteria， including Bidobacterium， Blautia and Faecallbaculum. Notably， the NF-κB signaling pathway was found to be closely related to BC99 treatment in DSS-induced UC mice. The positive protein expression the mRNA expression of TLR4， MyD88 and p65 in colon tissue were all detected in BC99-treated groups， which indicating that BC99 could alleviate UC symptoms by inhibiting TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway. Metabolomics further confirms the previous results. Collectively， these findings provide basic support for the Weizmannia coagulans as a functional food additive or a promising therapeutic agent for the effective management of UC.

The mass balance of the Greenland Ice Sheet(GrIS)plays a crucial role in global sea level *** the 1960s,remote sensing missions have been providing extensive and continuous observation data for change monitoring of the *** this paper,we present our recent research results from remote sensing-based GrIS change ***,historical satellite data are processed and used to fill data gaps and are combined with existing partial maps,completing an ice velocity map of the GrIS from the 1960s to *** map provides valuable data for estimating the historical mass balance of ***,the monthly gravimetry-based mass balance of the GrIS from 2002 to 2020 is estimated by combining Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)and GRACE Follow On(GRACE-FO)*** is found that the GrIS has lost a total mass of approximately 4443±75 Gt during this ***,based on Global Land Ice Measurements from Space(GLIMS),an updated Greenland glacier inventory is achieved utilizing data collected between 2006 and *** inventory provides more detailed and up-to-data glacier boundaries of ***,these advances provide essential data support for estimating the mass balance of the GrIS,contributing to the advancement of research on global sea level change.

Green synthesis of ZSM-5 using silica fume and catalytic co-cracking of lignin and plastics for production of monocyclic aromatics

ZSM-5 with hierarchical pore structure was synthesized by a simple two-step hydrothermal crystallization from silica fume without using any organic ammonium *** synthesized ZSM-5 were oval shaped particles with a particle size about 2.0 μm and weak acid-dominated with proper Brønsted(B)and Lewis(L)acid *** ZSM-5 was used for catalytic co-cracking of n-octane and guaiacol,lowdensity polyethylene(LDPE)and alkali lignin(AL)to enhance the production of benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylene(BTEX).The most significant synergistic effect occurred at n-octane/guaiacol at 1:1 and LDPE/AL at 1:3,under the condition,the achieved BTEX selectivity were 24%and 33%(mass)higher than the calculated values(weighted average).The highest BTEX selectivity reached 88.5%,which was 3.7%and 54.2%higher than those from individual cracking LDPE and *** synthesized ZSM-5 exhibited superior catalytic performance compared to the commercial ZSM-5,indicating potential application prospect.

What Caused the Differences between the July 2023 and August 1996 Extreme Rainfall Events in North China under Similar Synoptic Background?

This study examined the rainfall characteristics and related synoptic processes of two extreme rainfall events that affected North China during 29 July–1 August 2023 (“23·7” rainstorm) and 3–5 August 1996 (“96·8” rainstorm), respectively. A stable dual-typhoon circulation pattern was observed in both rainstorm events. The surviving vortex of a landed typhoon, slowly approaching the rainstorm region, was blocked by a high-pressure system as it moved northwestward. Meanwhile, the second typhoon over the western Pacific Ocean facilitated remote northward transport of moisture. The low-level jet between the surviving vortex and the western Pacific subtropical high relayed moist warm air from the area of the South China Sea and western Pacific into the rainstorm region. Although the circulation patterns are similar, the stratification conditions, driving factors, and moisture budget of the two rainstorms differed during the main period of rainfall. The “23·7” rainstorm was categorized as warm-sector rainfall, as a result of the lifting of warm moist air over the eastern foothills of Taihang Mountains. In comparison with the situation of the “96·8” rainstorm, the surviving vortex of the “23·7” rainstorm traveled further northeastward and directly impacted the occurrence and progression of the rainfall, leading to relative northward displacement of the rainfall center, while the stronger net inward moisture flux caused greater regional average rainfall. The “96·8” rainstorm was broadly analogous to precipitation of a cold front, and the rainfall center was observed in the convergence area of warm and cold air masses before the mountains; the surviving vortex did not exert direct impact on the rainfall; and the more unstable stratification led to stronger hourly rainfall. The results derived through comparison of the two rainstorms could serve as valuable scientific reference for operational forecasting of heavy rainfall under similar environmental conditions over North Chi

The integration of communications,sensing and computing(I-CSC)has significant applications in vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs).A roadside unit(RSU)plays an important role in I-CSC by performing functions such as information transmission and edge computing in vehicular *** to the constraints of limited resources,RSU cannot achieve full coverage and deploying RSUs at key cluster heads of hierarchical structures of road networks is an effective management ***,direct extracting the hierarchical structures for the resource allocation in VANETs is an open *** this paper,we proposed a network-based renormalization method based on information flow and geographical location to hierarchically deploy the RSU on the road *** renormalization method is compared with two deployment schemes:genetic algorithm(GA)and memetic framework-based optimal RSU deployment(MFRD),to verify the improvement of communication *** results show that the renormalization method is superior to other schemes in terms of RSU coverage and information reception rate.
