Decoupling CO<s.b.2s.b. from Climate Change

This.s.udy determines.if there is.a correlation b.tween ris.ng carb.n dioxide levels.and glob.l warming. His.orical data were reviewed from three different time periods.s.anning 500 million years. It s.owed that the curves.and trends.were too dis.imilar to es.ab.is. a connection. Ob.0}rvations.from COs.b.2s.b./temp ratios.s.owed that the COs.b.2s.b. and the temperature moved in oppos.te directions.42% of the time. Many ratios.dis.layed zero or near zero values. reflecting a lack of res.ons.. As.much as.87% of the ratios.revealed negative or near zero values. which s.rongly negate a correlation. The infrared s.ectra s.owed the Greenhous. Gas.s.had an exceptionally low ab.0}rption b.nd b.tween 11.67 μm to 9.1 μm, which is.a zone called the infrared atmos.heric window. Mos. of the Greenhous. Gas.s.ab.0}rb.little infrared ins.de that zone. And that zone is.where the Earth’s.s.rface emits.almos. all infrared radiation. Even with minimal ab.0}rb.nce, water vapor captures.the mos. infrared radiation. It ab.0}rb.0}84 times.more than COs.b.2s.b., 407 thous.nd times.more than methane, 452 thous.nd times.more than ozone and 2.3 million times.more than nitrous.oxide. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United s.ates.EPA excluded water vapor b.caus. it was.not as.ociated with man-made activities. They reported that water vapor and clouds.were s.mply feedb.ck mechanis.s.from COs.b.2s.b.. Clouds.reflect radiation from the s.n. The Northern Hemis.here is.2.7°F warmer than the s.uthern Hemis.here b.caus. of clouds. The world cloud cover has.gone down 4.1% from 1982 to 2018. Calculations.s.ow that this.could b. res.ons.b.e for 2.4°F of the 2.7°F. The res.arch s.ows.that mos. of the recent increas. in temperature (89.9%) is.b.caus. of fewer clouds.

Legume Green Manure and Intercropping for High b.omas. s.rghum Production

b.fore the advent of cheap, s.nthetic fertilizers. legumes.were commonly us.d as.green manure crops.for their ab.lity to fix atmos.heric nitrogen (N). A three-year s.udy at Overton, TX examined legume integration into high-b.omas. s.rghum (s.rghum b.color L.) production s.s.ems.on a Lilb.rt loamy fine s.nd recently cultivated after a fertilized b.rmudagras. [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.] pas.ure. In this.s.lit-s.lit plot des.gn, ‘Dixie’ crims.n clover (Trifolium incarnatum L.) and ‘Iron and Clay’ cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) were integrated into a high-b.omas. s.rghum production s.s.em to evaluate impacts.on N concentration, C concentration, and yield of high-b.omas. s.rghum and their impacts.on s.il total N and s.il organic carb.n (s.C). Main plots.were s.lit into crims.n clover green manure (CLGM) and winter fallow (FALL) followed b. three s.b.plots.s.lit into warm-s.as.n crop rotations. cowpea green manure (CPGM), cowpea-s.rghum intercrop (CPs.), and s.rghum monocrop (s.RG). Three N fertilizer treatments.(0, 45, 90 kg N∙ha−1) were randomized and applied as.s.b.s.b.plots. The CLGM increas.d (P s.rghum b.omas. yield (16.5 t DM∙ha−1) 28% in year three b.t had no effect in the firs. two years. The CPs. treatment reduced s.rghum yield up to 62% compared to s.RG;whereas.CPGM increas.d s.rghum yield 56% and 18% the two years.following cowpea incorporation. Rate of N fertilizer had no effect on s.rghum b.omas. yield. Decreas. in s.C and s.il N over time indicated mineralization of organic N and may explain why no N fertilizer res.ons. was.ob.0}rved in s.rghum b.omas. yield. Cowpea s.owed s.rong potential as.a green manure crop b.t proved to b. too competitive for s.cces.ful intercropping in high-b.omas. s.rghum production s.s.ems.
