Studying of Deformation Processes by Two-Coordinate Laser Strainmeter

The results of experimental data processing of a two-coordinate laser strainmeter are discussed. The two-coordinate laser strainmeter consists of two laser strainmeters which measuring shoulders are oriented along the lines “North- South” and “West-East”. Measurement accuracy of the earth's crust microdisplacements of these devices makes 0 to1 nm. Working frequency range is from 0 to 1000 Hz. Processing experimental data the main attention is paid to high tides, natural oscillations of the Earth, natural oscillations of geoblocks, superficial sea waves. It is established that after separate earthquakes the natural oscillations of regional geoblocks are strongly excited. Besides, it is revealed that quasiperiodic fluctuations of crust in the range of periods from 1 to 12 min. are caused by atmospheric processes. New soil thermal stabilization systems for building fundaments in permafrost regions

This paper describes new building construction methods that utilize soil thermal stabilization reghnes to compensate for negative environmental wanning and anthropogenic factors that impair fundament stability. Based on long-standing research, the Funda- mentstroyarkos Company （FSA） of Tyumen, Russia has developed four primary seasonally active cooling devices （SCDs） that maintain soil in the frozen state, which are now extensively used on oil and gas facilities located in cold regions of Russia. This paper reports on the testing and validation of these SCDs in experimental conditions. On this basis, desigqls and technologies for building bases and foundations on permafrost with use of soil thermal stabilization systems, using carbon dioxide as the heat-transfer agent, were developed.

In this paper,we point out some practical obstacles arising in realization of compressional optical coherence elastography(OCE)that have not attracted sufficient attention ***-cally,we discuss(i)complications in quantification of the Young modulus of tissues related to partial adhesion between the OCE probe and soft intervening reference layer sensor,(i)distorting influence of tisue suface curvature/corrugation on the subsurface strain distri-bution mapping,(ii)ways of signal-to-noise mtio(SNR)enhancement in OCE strain mapping when periodic averaging is not realized,and(iv)potentially significant infuence of tissue elastic nonlinearity on quantification of its *** pnactical approaches to mitigate the effects of these complications are also described.
