Seasonal tropical cyclone(TC)forecasting has evolved substantially since its commencement in the early ***,present operational seasonal TC forecasting services still do not meet the requirements of society and stakeholders:current operational products are mainly basin-scale information,while more detailed sub-basin scale information such as potential risks of TC landfall is anticipated for decision *** fill this gap and make the TC science and services move forward,this paper reviews recent research and development in seasonal tropical cyclone(TC)*** particular,this paper features new research topics on seasonal TC predictability in neutral conditions of El Ni˜no–Southern Oscillation(ENSO),emerging forecasting techniques of seasonal TC activity including Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence,and multi-annual TC *** also review the skill of forecast systems at predicting landfalling statistics for certain regions of the North Atlantic,Western North Pacific and South Indian oceans and discuss the gap that remains between current products and potential user's *** knowledge and advanced forecasting techniques are expected to further enhance the capability of seasonal TC forecasting and lead to more actionable and fit-for-purpose products.

The vaginal microbiome likely influences host signaling compounds within the reproductive tract,including pro-inflammatory signals,which may play an important role during *** lactobacilli are associated with positive pregnancy outcome,whereas bacterial vaginosis,a dysbiosis of the vaginal microbiome,is associated with an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes including preterm *** the host response could be predicted based on the taxonomic composition of the vaginal microbiome,particularly early in pregnancy,then those predictions could potentially be used to personalize intervention methods to reduce preterm birth and other adverse *** this proof of principle study,we apply multivariate strategies to analyze 16S rRNA-based taxonomic surveys in conjunction with targeted immuno-proteomic and lipidomic data from vaginal samples from 58 women enrolled in the Multi-Omic Microbiome Study-Pregnancy Initiative during early *** between the vaginal microbiome and the vaginal lipidome have not been previously *** from this study reveal significant multiple pairwise associations between microbial taxa,specific eicosanoids and sphingomyelins,and *** the biologic significance of these associations is not yet known,these results support the utility of such multi-omic approaches as a means to predict the impact of the microbiome on the host.

Background and Aims:Tenofovir alafenamide(TAf)has similar efficacy to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate(TDf)but with improved renal and bone safety in chronic hepatitis B patients studied outside of *** report 3-year results from two phase 3 studies with TAf in China(***:NCT02836249 and NCT02836236).Methods:Chinese hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)-positive and-negative chronic hepatitis B patients with viremia and elevated alanine aminotransferase were randomized 2:1 to TAf or TDf treatment groups and treated in a double-blind fashion for 144 weeks(3 years).Efficacy responses were assessed by individual study while safety was assessed by a pooled ***:Of the 334 patients(180 HBeAg-positive and 154 HBeAg-negative)randomized and treated,baseline characteristics were similar between *** overall mean age was 38 years and 73%were *** mean HBV DNA was 6.4 log10 IU/*** median alanine aminotransferase was 88 U/L,and 37%had a history of antiviral *** week 144,the proportion with HBV DNAf at 83%*** at 79%,and TAf at 93%*** at 92%for the HBeAg-positive and-negative patients,*** each study,higher proportions of TAf than TDf patients showed normalized alanine aminotransferase(via the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the China criteria)and showed loss of HBsAg;meanwhile,the HBeAg seroconversion rates were *** was well-tolerated among the TAf patients,who showed a smaller median decline in creatinine clearance(−0.4 vs.−3.2 mL/min;p=0.014)and less percentage change in bone mineral density *** at hip(−0.95%vs.−1.93%)and spine(+0.35%vs.−1.40%).Conclusions:In chronic hepatitis B patients from China,TAf treatment provided efficacy similar to TDf but with better renal and bone safety at 3 years.

Gadolinium enhanced MRI in patients with left ventricular apical ballooning syndrome implicates myocarditis as an etiology

Aims: Left ventricular apical ballooning syndrome (LVABS) is a clinical condition of unknown etiology, characterized by acute onset of atypical apical wall motion and absence of coronary artery disease. Gadolinium-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (Gd-MRI) may be used to identify patients with myocarditis. Using cardiac MRI, we evaluated whether acute myocarditis may be an etiology that underlies LVABS. Methods and Results: Consecutive patients who presented with LVABS during a three-year period were included. Demographic data was recorded and echocardiography, coronary angiography, and hemodynamic assessment performed. Gd-MRI was performed in all patients. The study was deemed consistent with myocarditis when global myocardial to skeletal muscle enhancement ratio was ≥3.5. Regional Gd-MRI analysis was also performed. Patients (n = 11) were female (100%) and of mean age 72 years (72 ± 11). Preceding febrile illness occurred in 4 (36.3%) and leukocytosis in 6 (54.4%) patients. Initial mean left ventricular ejection fraction (41% ± 12%) improved (70.2% ± 8%) upon follow-up (39 ± 43 days). Global MRI analysis was positive in 5/11 (45.5%) (mean relative enhancement ratio 4.8 ± 1.4). Regional MRI analysis was positive in 4/6 further patients (overall: 9/11 (82%)). Conclusions: Gadolinium enhanced MRI imaging in LVABS implicates myocarditis as a possible etiology. Regional MRI analysis adds sensitivity to global cardiac MRI evaluation.

Changes in sea level along the coastal southeastern United States(U.S.)influence the dynamic coastal *** particular,the Southeast Coastal Network(SECN)of the National Park Service(NPS)has exhibited evidence of fluctuations in sea level which caused coastal *** LiDAR acquired from NOAA for fort Matanzas National Monument,fort Pulaski National Monument,Charles Pinckney National Historic Site,and Cape Lookout National Seashore were analyzed to identify changes in both elevation and the spatial volume of unconsolidated sedimentary material in the coastal southeast over *** that exhibited an increase(deposited material)or decrease(eroded material)in elevation were mapped across the study area from 2006 to *** indicate a quasi-cyclic process where unconsolidated sediment distribution and the morphodynamic equilibrium changes with *** coastal zones are steadily oscillating between the process of erosion and deposition affecting the coastal geomorphological *** use of LiDAR for evaluating coastal sustainability and resiliency due to this environmental phenomenon is clear.
