Geothermal energy extraction often results in the release of naturally occurring carbon dioxide(CO_(2))as a *** on carbon storage using volcanic rock types other than basalt under both acidic and elevated temperature conditions has been limited so *** study uses batch reactor experiments at 100℃ to investigate the dissolution of andesite rock samples obtained from an active geothermal reservoir in Sumatra(Indonesia).The samples are subjected to reactions with neutral-pH fluids and acidic fluids,mimicking the geochemical responses upon reinjection of geothermal fluids,either without or with dissolved acidic gases,*** elemental analysis reveals the release of Ca^(2+)ions into the fluids through the dissolution of *** overall dissolution rate of the rock samples is 2.4×10^(–11)to 4.2×10^(–11)mol/(m^(2)·s),based on the Si release during the initial 7 h of the *** dissolution rates are about two orders of magnitude lower than those reported for basaltic rocks under similar reaction *** study offers valuable insights into the potential utilization of andesite reservoirs for effective CO_(2) storage via mineralization.

eco-ableism and access circularity in natural building

The climate crisis disproportionately impacts disabled people. Yet climate-related advocacy, planning, and policymaking often neglect to thoughtfully include disabled people. Responding to this gap, disabled and neurodivergent environmental activists coined the term eco-ableism to describe discrimination and silencing toward disabled and neurodivergent people (i.e., ableism) arising in environmental spaces (i.e., eco-ableism). Relatedly, building operations and construction practices contribute a significant percentage of global, energy-related CO_(2) emissions annually, which calls into question the relationships between the impending climate crisis, disability justice, and architecture. Climate-specific, natural building materials and methods present a potential pathway toward a more sustainable built future: low-carbon, locally sourced, minimally processed, and nontoxic materials. Despite a critical overlap, there is little published research on material access in the production phase and human access in the occupation phase of natural buildings. Applying eco-ableism and material circularity in an architectural framework, this research aims to investigate the gaps and possibilities of access, natural material applications, and resulting US natural buildings informed by scholarship in critical disability studies and semi-structured interviews with natural building professionals.

Structural plasticity is critical for the functional diversity of neurons in the *** autoimmune encephalomyelitis(eAe)is the most commonly used model for multiple sclerosis(MS),successfully mimicking its key pathological features(inflammation,demyelination,axonal loss,and gliosis)and clinical symptoms(motor and non-motordysfunctions).Recentstudieshave demonstrated the importance of synaptic plasticity in eAe *** the present study,we investigated the features of behavioral alteration and hippocampal structural plasticity in eAe-affected mice in the early phase(11 days post-immunization,DPI)and chronic phase(28DPI).eAe-affected mice exhibited hippocampus-related behavioral dysfunction in the open field test during both early and chronic *** complexity was largely affected in the cornu ammonis 1(CA1)and CA3 apical and dentate gyrus(DG)subregions of the hippocampus during the chronic phase,while this effect was only noted in the CA1 apical subregion in the early ***,dendritic spine density was reduced in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 apical/basal and DG subregions in the early phase of eAe,but only reduced in the DG subregion during the chronic ***,mRNA levels of proinflammatory cytokines(Il1β,Tnfα,and Ifnγ)and glial cell markers(Gfap and Cd68)were significantly increased,whereas the expression of activity-regulated cytoskeletonassociated protein(ARC)was reduced during the chronic ***,exposure to the aforementioned cytokines in primary cultures of hippocampal neurons reduced dendritic complexity and ARC *** cultures of hippocampal neurons also showed significantly reduced extracellular signal-regulated kinase(eRK)phosphorylation upon treatment with proinflammatory ***,these results suggest that autoimmune neuroinflammation alters structural plasticity in the hippocampus,possibly through the eRK-ARC pathway,indicating that this alteration may be associated with hi

Boosted Lithium-Ion Transport Kinetics in n-Type Siloxene Anodes enabled by Selective Nucleophilic Substitution of Phosphorus

Doped two-dimensional(2D)materials hold significant promise for advancing many technologies,such as microelectronics,optoelectronics,and energy ***,n-type 2D oxidized Si nanosheets,namely n-type siloxene(n-SX),are employed as Li-ion battery *** thermal evaporation of sodium hypophosphite at 275℃,P atoms are effectively incorporated into siloxene(SX)without compromising its 2D layered morphology and unique Kautsky-type crystal ***,selective nucleophilic substitution occurs,with only Si atoms being replaced by P atoms in the O_(3)≡Si-H *** resulting n-SX possesses two delocalized electrons arising from the presence of two electron donor types:(i)P atoms residing in Si sites and(ii)H *** doping concentrations are varied by controlling the amount of precursors or their mean free *** at 2000 mA g^(-1),the n-SX electrode with the optimized doping concentration(6.7×10^(19) atoms cm^(-3))delivers a capacity of 594 mAh g^(-1) with a 73%capacity retention after 500 *** improvements originate from the enhanced kinetics of charge transport processes,including electronic conduction,charge transfer,and solid-state *** approach proposed herein offers an unprecedented route for engineering SX anodes to boost Li-ion storage.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system and is generally considered to be a non-traumatic,physically debilitating neurological *** addition to experiencing motor disability,patients with multiple sclerosis also experience a variety of nonmotor symptoms,including cognitive deficits,anxiety,depression,sensory impairments,and ***,the pathogenesis and treatment of such non-motor symptoms in multiple scle rosis are still under *** studies for multiple sclerosis benefit from the use of disease-appropriate animal models,including experimental autoimmune *** to understanding the pathophysiology and developing treatments for non-motor symptoms,it is critical to chara cterize the animal model in terms of its ability to replicate certain non-motor features of multiple *** such,no single animal model can mimic the entire spectrum of *** review focuses on the non-motor symptoms that have been investigated in animal models of multiple sclerosis as well as possible underlying ***,we highlighted gaps in the literature to explain the nonmotor aspects of multiple sclerosis in expe rimental animal models,which will serve as the basis for future studies.

Cholangioscopy-assisted guidewire placement in a malignant biliary stricture: A case report

BACKGROUND Cholangioscopy has been described in case reports and series to facilitate guidewire placement in difficult benign biliary ***,it has been infrequently used in difficult benign anastomotic liver transplant biliary strictures to visualize the stricture orifice for guidewire *** we describe a case of guidewire placement through a difficult malignant biliary stricture using single operator *** SUMMARY A 74-year-old female presented with jaundice and weight *** ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(eRCP)by other endoscopists demonstrated pancreatic adenocarcinoma with a dilated cystic duct(CD)and proximal common bile duct(CBD).The associated distal CBD stricture was dilated and stented with a plastic *** she subsequently developed cholangitis,prompting referral for a repeat *** stent was found to have migrated distally to the confluence of the dilated CD and CBD *** using multiple hydrophilic guidewires,the stricture could not be traversed due to preferential wire passage into the dilated *** DS(Boston Scientific Corp,Marlborough,MA,United States)was then used to visualize the orifices of the CD and CBD stenosis,enabling the guidewire to be placed directly through the stricture into the proximal CBD.A WallFlex covered metal stent(Boston Scientific Corp,Marlborough,MA,United States)was successfully placed,resulting in resolution of her *** To our knowledge,this is one of the first cases to describe successful cholangioscopic guidewire placement for malignant biliary strictures.

Metal halide perovskites have emerged as promising light-emitting materials for next-generation displays owing to their remarkable material characteristics including broad color tunability,pure color emission with remarkably narrow bandwidths,high quantum yield,and solution *** recent advances have pushed the luminance efficiency of monochromic perovskite light-emitting diodes(PeLeDs)to their theoretical limits,their current fabrication using the spincoating process poses limitations for fabrication of full-color *** integrate PeLeDs into full-color display panels,it is crucial to pattern red–green–blue(RGB)perovskite pixels,while mitigating issues such as cross-contamination and reductions in luminous ***,we present state-of-the-art patterning technologies for the development of full-color ***,we highlight recent advances in the development of efficient ***,we discuss various patterning techniques of MPHs(i.e.,photolithography,inkjet printing,electron beam lithography and laserassisted lithography,electrohydrodynamic jet printing,thermal evaporation,and transfer printing)for fabrication of RGB pixelated *** patterning techniques can be classified into two distinct approaches:in situ crystallization patterning using perovskite precursors and patterning of colloidal perovskite *** review highlights advancements and limitations in patterning techniques for PeLeDs,paving the way for integrating PeLeDs into full-color panels.

Robot-assisted uretero-enteric reimplantation for uretero-enteric anastomotic strictures following robot-assisted radical cystectomy: Surgical approach and outcomes over two decades

Objective:We described the technique and outcomes of robot-assisted repair of uretero-enteric strictures(UeS)following robot-assisted radical cystectomy(RARC)and urinary ***:Retrospective review of our RARC database from November 2005 to August 2023 at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer center was *** who developed UeS and ultimately underwent robot-assisted uretero-enteric reimplantation(RUeR)were *** method was used to compute the cumulative incidence recurrence rate of UeS after RUeR.A multivariable regression model was used to identify variables associated with UeS ***:A total of 123(15%)out of 808 RARC patients developed UeS,of whom 52 underwent reimplantation(45 patients underwent RUeR[n=55 cases]and seven patients underwent open ureteroenteric reimplantation).The median time from RARC to UeS was 4.4(interquartile range 3.0e7.0)months,and the median time between UeS and RUeR was 5.2(interquartile range 3.2e8.9)*** 3-year recurrence rate after RUeR is about 29%.On multivariable analysis,longer hospital stay(hazard ratio 1.37,95%confidence interval 1.16e1.61,ped with recurrent UeS after ***:RUeR for UeS after RARC is feasible with durable outcomes although a notable subset of patients experienced postoperative complications and UeS recurrence.

Chemical and mechanical properties of stainless, environment-friendly, and nonflammable Mg alloys (SeN alloys): A review

This review article provides overall understanding of stainless,environment-friendly,and nonflammable Mg alloys(SeN alloys)recently developed at the Korea Institute of Materials *** alloys are produced by adding small amounts of Ca and Y(eachercial Mg–Al based alloys,resulting in exceptional ignition and corrosion resistances and impressive mechanical *** main advantages of SeN alloys are as follows.(1)A dense multi-oxide layer of SeN alloys comprising MgO,CaO,and Y_(2)O_(3) impedes the outward dispersion of Mg vapor and the inward penetration of O_(2) during oxidation,thereby enhancing the oxidation and ignition resistances.(2)The presence of Ca-and Y-based second-phase particles in SeN alloys can enhance their corrosion resistance because Ca-containing particles prevent the spread of corrosion,and the replacement of Al-containing particles with less noble ones containing Y(e.g.,Al–Mn–Y or Al–Y particles)retards corrosion.(3)The addition of minor amounts of Ca and Y renders excellent mechanical properties due to improved strengthening *** enhanced properties are attributed to more pronounced dynamic recrystallization and grain refining behaviors caused by the second-phase particles during extrusion.(4)Despite the presence of various types of second-phase particles,the fatigue properties of SeN9 alloys are similar to those of commercial AZ91 alloys.(5)Simultaneous introduction of Ca and Y suppresses the formation of Mg17Al12 discontinuous precipitates during aging,leading to the enhanced elongation of aged SeN alloys.(6)Adding mischmetal into the SeN9 alloy leads to a six-fold enhancement in ***,the studies conducted on SeN alloys demonstrate their excellent ignition and corrosion resistances and mechanical properties,which broaden the industrial applications of Mg alloys by addressing their inherent weaknesses.
