Arteriovenous fistulas and digital hypoperfusion ischemic syndrome in patients on hemodialysis

AIM： To determine survival parameters as well as char-acteristics of patients with this syndrome. METHODS： The investigation was conducted over a period of eight years, as a prospective, non-random-ized, clinical study which included 204 patients, treated by chronic hemodialysis. Most patients received hemo-dialysis 12 h per week. As vascular access for hemodi-alysis all subjects had an arteriovenous fstulae. Based on surveys the respondents were divided into groups of patients with and without digital hypoperfusion isch-emic syndrome. Gender, demographic and anthropo-metric characteristics, together with comorbidity and certain habits, were recorded. During this period 34.8% patients ***： Patients with digital hypoperfusion ischemic syndrome were older than those without ischemia （P = 0.01）. Hemodialysis treatment lasted signifcantly lon-ger in the patients with digital hypoperfusion ischemic syndrome （P = 0.02）. The incidence of cardiovascular disease （P 〈 0.001） and diabetes mellitus （P = 0.01）, as well as blood fow through the arteriovenous fstula （ P = 0.036）, were higher in patients with digital hypoper-fusion ischemic syndrome. Statistically significant dif-ferences also existed in relation to oxygen saturation （P = 0.04）. Predictive parameters of survival for patients with digital hypoperfusion ischemic syndrome were： adequacy of hemodialysis （B = -3.604, P 〈 0.001）, hypertension （B = -0.920, P = 0.018）, smoking （B = -0.901, P = 0.049）, diabetes mellitus （B = 1.227, P = 0.005）, erythropoietin therapy （B = 1.274, P = 0.002） and hemodiafltration （B = -1.242, P = 0.033）. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis indicated that subjects with and without digital hypoperfusion ischemic syndrome dif-fered regarding the length of survival （P 〈 0.001）, i.e. , patients with confrmed digital hypoperfusion ischemic syndrome died ***： Survival was signifcantly longer in the patients without digital hypoperfusion ischemic syn-drome.

Trust Assessment Model Based on a Zero Trust Strategy in a Community Cloud Environment

The adoption of Cloud Computing services in everyday business life has grown rapidly in recent years due to the many benefits of this paradigm. The various collaboration tools offered by Cloud Computing have eliminated or reduced the notion of distance between entities of the same company or between different organizations. This has led to an increase in the need to share resources (data and services). Community Cloud environments have thus emerged to facilitate interactions between organizations with identical needs and with specific and high security requirements. However, establishing trust and secure resource sharing relationships is a major challenge in this type of complex and heterogeneous environment. This paper proposes a trust assessment model (SeComTrust) based on the Zero Trust cybersecurity strategy. First, the paper introduces a community cloud architecture subdivided into different security domains. Second, it presents a process for selecting a trusted organization for an exchange based on direct or recommended trust value and reputation. Finally, a system for promoting or relegating organizations in the different security domains is applied. Experimental results show that our model guarantees the scalability of a community cloud with a high success rate of secure and quality resource sharing.

Use of models in large-area forest surveys： comparing model-assisted, model-based and hybrid estimation

This paper focuses on the use of models for increasing the precision of estimators in large-area forest surveys. It is motivated by the increasing availability of remotely sensed data, which facilitates the development of models predicting the variables of interest in forest surveys. We present, review and compare three different estimation frameworks where models play a core role： model-assisted, model-based, and hybrid estimation. The first two are well known, whereas the third has only recently been introduced in forest surveys. Hybrid inference mixes design- based and model-based inference, since it relies on a probability sample of auxiliary data and a model predicting the target variable from the auxiliary *** review studies on large-area forest surveys based on model-assisted, model- based, and hybrid estimation, and discuss advantages and disadvantages of the approaches. We conclude that no general recommendations can be made about whether model-assisted, model-based, or hybrid estimation should be preferred. The choice depends on the objective of the survey and the possibilities to acquire appropriate field and remotely sensed data. We also conclude that modelling approaches can only be successfully applied for estimating target variables such as growing stock volume or biomass, which are adequately related to commonly available remotely sensed data, and thus purely field based surveys remain important for several important forest parameters.

Voltammetric Behavior of Tembotrione Using Silver/Amalgam Electrode

Tembotrione is herbicide which belongs to the triketone group of herbicides. It’s registered as a selective, post-emergence herbicide developed for the control of a broad spectrum broadleaf and grassy weeds in corn. There is little information about tembotrione because of his short presence in the market. Due to its ever wider application, it is important to know the details of its chemical characteristics and redox processes, including biogeochemical transformation and migration after application to agricultural land, which could contribute to its efficient and safer application. In this paper we examined voltammetric behavior of tembotrione using Silver/Amalgam (Ag/Hg) electrode. For the investigation of electrochemical behavior we used the cyclic voltammetry technique, with conventional three-electrode cell and electrochemical workstation. During the experiment pH values of solution varieties while constant concentration of tembotrione was maintained. Cyclic voltammograms were recorded at pH values 6, 8, 10 and 12, at which tembotrione was electrochemically active. At this pH values two signals were observed. Optimum pH value, at which the current intensity was greatest, was 12. Obtained results provide relevant information on the electrochemical behavior of tembotrione, which can serve as a basis for the development of electrochemical techniques for the removal and degradation of this pesticide in the environment.

Bone blood flow is influenced by muscle contractions

Forces acting on the skeleton could be divided into those originating from gravitational loading and those originating from muscle loading. Flat bones in a non-weight-baring segment of the skeleton probably experience forces mostly generated by muscle contractions. One purpose of muscle contractions is to generate blood flow within skeletal tissues. The present study aimed to investigate the pulsatile patellar bone blood flow after low and high intensity leg extension exercises. Forty-two healthy individuals volunteered for the study. Dynamic isotonic one leg extension/flexion exercises were performed in a leg extension machine. Randomly, the exercises were performed with the left or right leg with either 10 repetition maximum (10 RM) continuously without any resting periods (high intensity muscle work), or 20 RM with a 2 second rest between contractions (low intensity muscle work). The work load, expressed in kilograms totally lifted, was identical in both legs. The pulsatile patellar blood flow was recorded continuously using a photoplethysmographic technique. Blood pressure was measured continuously during muscle work by a non-invasive method (Finapress). The patellar pulsatile bone blood flow increased significantly more after high intensity muscle work (61%) compared to the same work load performed using a lower intensity (22%), p = 0.000073. Systolic blood pressure changed equally during and after both interventions. Post-exercise bone hyperaemia appears to be correlated to the intensity of muscle contractions in the muscle compartment attached to the bone.

Convective Schrodinger Equation:Insights on the Potential Energy’s Role to Wave Particle Decay

In this paper, we coupled the Quantum Mechanics conventional Schrödinger’s equation, for the particles, with the Maxwell’s wave equation, in order to study the potential’s role on the conversion of the electromagnetic field energy to mass and vice versa. We show that the dissipation (“conductivity”) factor and the particle implicit proper frequency are both related to the potential energy. We have also derived a new expression for the Schrödinger’s Equation considering the potential energy into this equation not as an ad hoc term, but also as an operator (Hermitian), which has the scalar potential energy as a natural eigenvalue of this operator.

＜正＞ Urban bridges very often become benchmarks of the city or metropolis, specially if they present aesthetical achievement. This fact has to be accepted during the design process. Therefore the shape or details of some urban bridge very often try to present some part of cities history, some technologies that characterize some city era or are simply dedicated to one time period of the city development. The paper shows examples of old bridges constructed centuries ago in the old stone city of Dubrovnik, one of the best preserved centers of Mediterranean mediaeval architecture. In the vicinity of old bridges, a new cable-stayed urban bridge has been completed in the 2002, with the main span of 303 meters. During the phases of conceptual, preliminary and final design special attention has been payed to interaction between historical background and new technologies and materials that had to be applied on a new structure.

In this paper experimental data about the creep behavior of high strength low-alloy （HSLA, ASTM A618） steel are presented. For different elevated temperatures （Ti） tensile tests （σ?ε） are carried out and also for some of the mentioned elevated temperatures one-dimensional creep tests （ε-t） for different constant loads （Fi） are made. Experiments are carried out using computer controlled 400 kN materials testing machine equipped by a high temperature furnace and a corresponding high temperature extensometer. These experiments belong to the testing material mechanical properties and viscoplastic responses of the material under consideration. The obtained results of material properties and creep behavior are necessary for determining e.g. the load-carrying capacity of a structure under fire conditions as well as for its lifetime prediction..

Industrial Control Systems (ICS) or SCADA networks are increasingly targeted by cyber-attacks as their architectures shifted from proprietary hardware, software and protocols to standard and open sources ones. Furthermore, these systems which used to be isolated are now interconnected to corporate networks and to the Internet. Among the countermeasures to mitigate the threats, anomaly detection systems play an important role as they can help detect even unknown attacks. Deep learning which has gained a great attention in the last few years due to excellent results in image, video and natural language processing is being used for anomaly detection in information security, particularly in SCADA networks. The salient features of the data from SCADA networks are learnt as hierarchical representation using deep architectures, and those learnt features are used to classify the data into normal or anomalous ones. This article is a review of various architectures such as Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Stacked Autoencoder (SAE), Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), or a combination of those architectures, for anomaly detection purpose in SCADA networks.
