High-purity Nd metal was recovered from waste Nd–Fe–B magnet by the molten salt electrowinning process with chemical pretreatment. X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, energy dispersive spectroscopy（EDS）, cyclic voltammetry（CV）,chronopotentiometry（CP）, and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometer（ICP/AES） were used to characterize the deposit and electrochemical behaviors. The results show that NdF_3 is effectively synthesized from the Nd–Fe–B magnet using HCl solution and NH4F. During the chemical treatment of the waste magnet,iron impurity is eliminated as a soluble [NH4]3[FeF6]complex. Electrowinning using NdF_3 in LiF molten salt shows that Nd metal is deposited from the electrolyte onthe cathode at the reduction potentials ranging from-1.48to-1.35 V（vs. W） with the concentration change of NdF_*** final purity of Nd metal deposit is higher than99.78 %.

The thermoelastic behaviors of such as temperature distribution, displacements, and stresses in thermal barrier coatings (TBC) are seriously influenced by top coat thickness and edge conditions. The top coat of TBC specimens prepared with TriplexPro?-200 system was controlled by changing the processing parameter and feedstock, showing the various thicknesses and microstructures. A couple of governing partial differential equations were derived based on the thermoelastic theory. Since the governing equations were too involved to solve analytically, a finite volume method was developed to obtain approximations. The thermoelastic behaviors of TBC specimens with the various thicknesses and microstructures were estimated through mathematical approaches with different edge conditions. The results demonstrated that the microstructure and thickness of the top coat, and the edge condition in theoretical analysis were crucial factors to be considered in controlling the thermoelastic characteristics of plasma-sprayed TBCs.

A composite material as a work piece is taken into account to investigate the elastic characteristics displaying during the cutting process. The magnitude of the elastic behaviors such as displacements and stresses reacts sensitively to the cutting angle and the vertical force increase, and the magnitude increases along the increments of the cutting angle and the vertical force increase. The buffering mechanism at the bond coat is described well by the fluctuation phenomenon for the horizontal displacement distribution profiles at the substrate. The variation of cutting angle under high vertical force yields profound influence on the behaviors of the longitudinal stress and the shear stress.

Objective: Upfront docetaxel use for hormone naïve advanced prostate cancer is reported that it successfully delayed the progression to hormone refractory stage, though the adequate methodology to obtain the maximum effect is unclear. We investigated these issues from our experiences of upfront docetaxel use with LH-RH antagonist for metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer, aiming at the prevention of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) for apoptosis tolerance. Patients and Methods: Of 31 stage IV new prostate cancer patients treated with upfront docetaxel and LH-RH antagonist (Degarelix), 25 patients who could be followed more than 12 months (mean 36.2 months) were analyzed. Docetaxel was used two to three courses basically 75 mg/m2 dose initializing two weeks after the induction of first Degarelix. Results: The clinical course was divided clearly to two groups according to prostate specific antigen (PSA) values. Of 25 patients, 12 patient’s PSA did not decrease below 0.1 ng/ml within 6 months (group A) and gradually rose afterwards. PSA in another 13 patients (group B) decreased below 0.1 within 6 months and kept below 0.1 during the follow up period. Although statistically not significant, the initial group A’s PSA was higher than group B’s (average 1308 and 353 ng/ml), however, number of metastasis, Gleason sum, and bone metastatic extent of disease showed no difference between them. Among group B patients, 7 cases had only upfront docetaxel and hormonal therapy, and some of these patients showed only atrophic gland and fibrotic tissue at second prostate biopsy (specimens after more than two years of therapy), suggesting complete response. Conclusion: Our study suggested that PSA value at 6 months may predict the outcome of whole therapy. The most significant differences between continuous welded rails （CWRs） and general split-type connectors are axial compression in the longitudinal direction, buckling stability and other issues generated under the influence of thermal effect. Under thermal effect, a dynamical behavior similar to that of a beam fixed on two sides occurs in the central locked area of the welded rail, as there is axial compression but no possibility of sliding. Continuous welded rails do not contract or expand, and are supported by the dynamical system made up of ballasts and rail clips. The rail-support system mentioned above has the features of non-uniform material distribution and uncertainty of construction quality. Due to these facts, the dynamics method based on the linear elastic hypothesis cannot correctly evaluate the rail＇s buckling conditions. This study is aimed at applying Finite Difference Method （FDM） and Monte Carlo Random Normal Variables Method to the analysis of welded rail＇s buckling behavior during the train＇s acceleration and deceleration, under thermal effect and uncertain factors of ballast and rail clips. The analysis result showed that buckling occurs under the combined effect of thermal effect and the train＇s deceleration force co-effect and the variance ratio of ballast and rail clips is over 0.85, or under the combined effect of thermal effect and the train＇s acceleration force when the ariance ratio is over 0.88.

Silicon carbide (SiC) is highly wear resistant with good mechanical properties, including high temperature strength, excellent chemical resistance, and high thermal conductivity and thermal shock resistance. SiC molds, which can be produced with diverse microstructural features, are now widely used in glass molding owing to their excellent characteristics, and also have potential applicability in IT industries. SiC molds are traditionally fabricated by silicon micromachining or dicing. The fabrication cost of silicon micromachining is very high, however, because several expensive masks are needed. Furthermore, the fabrication time is very long. Meanwhile, it is difficult to make micro-patterned molds with arbitrary shapes using dicing saws. Abrasive water jet (AWJ) is widely applied to cut and drill very brittle, soft and fibrous materials. It offers high energy density, the absence of a heat affected zone(HAZ), high performance, and an environment friendly process. In spite of these advantages, micro-hole drilling via conventional AWJ processing suffers from notable shortcomings. We proposed a new abrasive supplying method of AWJ. The proposed method reduces frosting phenomena, and provides micro-machining of AWJ. The characteristics of a hole machined was investigated by the proposed AWJ process according to the ratio of water and abrasives. With the optimal experimental conditions, 3×3 array SiC molds with the diameter of 700 μm and depth of 900 μm were successfully manufactured.

BACKGROUND Axillary thoracotomy and muscle flap are muscle-and nerve-sparing methods among the surgical approaches to bronchopleural fistula(BPF).However,in patients who are vulnerable to a nerve compression injury,nerve injury may *** this report,we present a unique case in which the brachial plexus(division level),suprascapular,and long thoracic nerve injury occurred after BPF closure surgery in a patient with ankylosing spondylitis and concomitant multiple joint *** SUMMARY A 52-year-old man with a history of ankylosing spondylitis with shoulder joint contractures presented with right arm weakness and sensory impairment immediately after axillary thoracotomy and latissimus dorsi muscle flap surgery for BPF *** the surgery,the patient was positioned in a lateral decubitus position with the right arm hyper-abducted for approximately 6 *** resonance imaging and ultrasound revealed subclavius muscle injury or myositis with brachial plexus(BP)compression and related *** electrodiagnostic study confirmed the presence of BP injury involving the wholedivision level,long thoracic,and suprascapular nerve *** was treated with medication,physical therapy,and ultrasound-guided *** steroid injection at the BP,hydrodissection with 5%dextrose water at the BP and suprascapular nerve,and intra-articular steroid and hyaluronidase injection at the glenohumeral joint were *** postoperative day 194,the pain and arm weakness were resolved,and a follow-up electrodiagnostic study showed marked *** Clinicians should consider the possibilities of multiple nerve injuries in patients with joint contracture,and treat each specific therapeutic target.
