Prost.t. cancer is one of t.e most.common cancers in men. t.adit.onal screening and diagnost.c met.ods include digit.l rect.l examinat.ons （DREs）, biopsies and serum prost.t.-specific ant.gen （PSA） t.st., wit. t.e lat.er being t.e more popular. PSA is a biomarker for prost.t. cancer; however, it.is highly sensit.ve t. ext.rnal fact.rs as well as ot.er prost.t. diseases. As such, t.e reliabilit. of of t.e serum PSA level as a sole screening and diagnost.c t.ol for prost.t. cancer is cont.oversial. Recent.y, it.has been shown t.at.fast.ng ext.emes can affect.concent.at.ons of serum chemist.y analyt.s, t.us raising t.e quest.on of whet.er or not.fast.ng has an effect.on t.e highly sensit.ve PSA biomarker.
