The extant Cabrera’s vole,microtus cabrerae,differs in morphology and evolutionary history from the other species of *** arvicoline has unique derived features in the cranium,mandible and ***bly its most conspicuous features are its large size,the high skull in lateral view,the long and distally broad nasals,and the triangle shape of the anteroconid complex,with a marked labio-lingual asymmetry of the occlusal surface of the first lower *** this study,we propose a phylogenetic lineage that includes Cabrera’s vole in what until now has been the microtus subgenus *** information and several life history traits support the elevation of Iberomys to the rank of *** Iberomys comprises species that have appeared in succession during the Quaternary:in the Early Pleistocene,the extinct *** in the middle Pleistocene,the extinct *** and in the Late Pleistocene,the extant ***,the extant species shows several biological singularities,such as multiple polymorphic copies of the SRY male-specific gene in both males and females,and the lowest basal metabolic rate in relation to weight among arvicoline ***,its habitat requirement is unique among the Iberian ***,the biological and paleontological data that we present in this work support the elevation of its taxonomic rank to that of ge*** study also suggests a modification of nomenclature:microtus(Iberomys)brecciensis is replaced with *** and the common name of the extant m.(I.)cabrerae changed from‘topillo’to‘iberon’to improve conservation and protection actions.

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment for Jamaica

A probabilistic seismic hazard analysis was performed to generate seismic hazard maps for Jamaica. The analysis was then conducted using a standard logic-tree approach that allowed systematically taking into account the model-based （i.e., epistemic） uncertainty and its influence on the computed ground motion parameters. Hazard computations have been performed using a grid of sites with a space of 0.05 degrees. Two different computation methodologies have been adopted： the standard approach based on the definition of appropriate seismogenic sources and the zone-free approach, which overcomes the ambiguities related with the definition of the seismic sources solely reflecting the characteristics of the earthquake catalogue. A comprehensive and updated earthquake catalogue for Jamaica has been compiled for the years 1551-2010 and new empirical relationships amongst magnitudes mze-ms and mw-mb have been developed for the region. Uniform hazard spectra and their uncertainty have been calculated for the horizontal component of ground motion for rock site conditions and five return periods （95, 475, 975, 2,475 and 4,975 years） and spectral accelerations for 34 structural periods ranging from 0 to 3 s, and 5% of critical damping. The spectral accelerations have been calculated to allow the definition of seismic hazard in Jamaica according to the International Building Code 2012. The disaggregation analysis for Kingston metropolitan Area suggests that the magnitude-distance pair that contributes most to the hazard corresponds to events with m 7.8 and m 7.0 in the Enriquillo Plantain Garden Fault and the Jamaican Faults at a distance of 28 km and 18 km for short and long period structures respectively corresponding to 2,475 years return period. However, for long period structures, a substantial contribution is found for a m 8.2 at a distance of 198 km in the Oriente Fault Zone.

Treatment options for localised renal cell carcinoma of the transplanted kidney

Currently,there is no consensus among the transplant community about the treatment of renal cell carcinoma(RCC)of the transplanted *** recently,graftectomy was universally considered the golden standard,regardless of the characteristics of the *** to the encouraging results observed in native kidneys,conservative options such as nephron-sparing surgery(NSS)(enucleation and partial nephrectomy)and ablative therapy(radiofrequency ablation,cryoablation,microwave ablation,high-intensity focused ultrasound,and irreversible electroporation)have been progressively used in carefully selected recipients with early-stage allograft *** reports show excellent patient survival,optimal oncological outcome,and preserved renal function with acceptable complication ***,the rarity and the heterogeneity of the disease,the number of options available,and the lack of long-term follow-up data do not allow to adequately define treatment-specific advantages and *** role of active surveillance and immunosuppression management remain also *** order to offer a better insight into this difficult topic and to help clinicians choose the best therapy for their patients,we performed and extensive review of the *** focused on epidemiology,clinical presentation,diagnostic work up,staging strategies,tumour characteristics,treatment modalities,and follow-up *** research confirms that both NSS and focal ablation represent a valuable alternative to graftectomy for kidney transplant recipients with American Joint Committee on Cancer stage T1aN0m0 *** on T1bN0m0 lesions are scarce but suggest extra *** designed multi-centre prospective clinical trials are warranted.

The Use of Bone morphogenetic Protein-7 and Resveratrol in Collagen Type II of Articular Cartilage

This study aimed to investigate the effects of resveratrol and bone morphogenetic protein 7 on type II collagen from superficial and middle zone of porcine articular chondrocytes. Articular cartilage was isolated from dissected porcine knee joint n = 12. Isolated cells were plated as monolayers at a density of 1 × 105 cells/well in 12-well culture plates and incubated at 37℃ in a humid atmosphere of 5% carbon dioxide and 95% air. Cell cultures were treated for four days with various concentrations of bone morphogenetic protein-7 and resveratroL Cells were then collected and analysed for collagen type II expression by real time polymerase chain reaction and protein level quantification by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Cartilage tissue sections were localised for collagen type II by immunohistochemistry. moreover, resveratrol and bone morphogenetic protein-7 effects on cartilage matrix contents were analysed by histology. Resveratrol and bone morphogenetic protein-7 stimulates expression of collagen type II mRNA and protein level accumulation in the surface zone and middle zone at 50μm ＋ 300 ng/ml （RSV ＋ BmP-7）. Immunohistochemistry results confirmed the presence of collagen type II on articular cartilage. Histological tissue sections confirmed that chondrocytes were obtained from different zones of articular cartilage. The study suggests that a combination of bone morphogenetic protein-7 and resveratrol up-regulate the expression and synthesis of collagen type II.

Ultrasound and Electromyography as Guidance Tools for the Botulinum Toxin Therapy in Cervical Dystonia

Cervical Dystonia (CD) is the most common type of focal dystonia in the movement disorders units of any specialized hospital around the world. Botulinum Toxin (BT) infiltration is the treatment of choice for CD, according to most of the experts around the world, however the efficacy and tolerance of BT therapy in CD depend on the accuracy when BT is released into the muscles. We reviewed the medical literature in regard to the use of guiding tools for the BT infiltration in CD patients. Results: The use of guiding tools such as Ultrasound or EmG definitely improves the accuracy for releasing the BT into the muscles involved according to some authors. Conclusion: the use of Ultrasound and EmG improves the efficacy and reduce the adverse effects in the BT therapy in CD patients.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)for forest monitoring has grown significantly in recent years,providing information with high spatial resolution and temporal *** with multispectral sensors allow the use of indexes such as the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),which determines the vigor,physiological stress and photo synthetic activity of *** study aimed to analyze the spectral responses and variations of NDVI in tree crowns,as well as their correlation with climatic factors over the course of one *** study area encompassed a 1.6-ha site in Durango,mexico,where Pinus cembroides,Pinus engelmannii,and Quercus grisea *** images were acquired with UAV and information on meteorological variables was obtained from NASA/POWER *** ANOVA explored possible differences in NDVI among the three *** correlation was performed to identify the linear relationship between NDVI and meteorological *** differences in NDVI values were found at the genus level(Pinus and Quercus),possibly related to the physiological features of the species and their *** grisea had the lowest NDVI values throughout the year which may be attributed to its sensitivity to relative humidity and *** the use of UAV with a multispectral sensor for NDVI monitoring allowed genera differentiation,in more complex forest analyses hyperspectral and LiDAR sensors should be integrated,as well other vegetation indexes be considered.

Contrasting initial events of localized corrosion on surfaces of 2219-T42 and 6061-T6 aluminum alloys exposed in Caribbean seawater

Aluminum alloy samples, 6061-T6 and 2219-T42, were exposed to Caribbean seawater for 90 d. The fluctuations of open circuit potential, considered as electrochemical noise (EN), were used to characterize and compare initial pitting events, which appeared on their surfaces. EN analysis was carried out using the power spectral density (PSD) vs frequency. The decrease of the β exponent in PSD graphs indicated a release of spontaneous energy with the progress of pit formation in seawater. The fluctuations were associated with the breakdown and formation of new corrosion layers. The values of β exponent in PSD graphs suggest that corrosion process of AA2219-T42 alloy occurs as a persistent non-stationary process, the dynamics of which is controlled by fractional Brownian motion (fBm), while on AA6061-T6 alloy the corrosion process was dominated by stationary and weakly persistent features, with the contribution of fractional Gaussian noise (fGn). After the exposure in seawater, SEm-EDX analysis revealed insoluble intermetallic particles on the alloys, rich in Cu or Fe and irregularly distributed. The preferential dissolution of mg and Al occurs from the S-phase (Al2Cumg) of AA2219-T42 alloy.

Regulation of floral senescence in Arabidopsis by coordinated action of CONSTANS and jasmonate signaling

In Arabidopsis,photoperiodic flowering is controlled by the regulatory hub gene CONSTANS(CO),whereas floral organ senescence is regulated by the jasmonates(JAs).Because these processes are chronologically ordered,it remains unknown whether there are common regulators of both *** this study,we discovered that CO protein accumulates in Arabidopsis flowers after floral induction,and it displays a diurnal pattern in floral organs different from that in the *** observed that altered CO expression could affect flower senescence and abscission by interfering with JA response,as shown by petal-specific transcriptomic analysis as well as CO overexpression in JA synthesis and signaling *** found that CO has a ZIm(ZINC-FINGER INFLORESCENCE mERISTEm)like domain that mediates its interaction with the JA response repressor JAZ3(jasmonate ZIm-domain 3).Their interaction inhibits the repressor activity of JAZ3,resulting in activation of downstream transcription factors involved in promoting flower ***,we showed that CO,JAZ3,and the E3 ubiquitin ligase COI1(Coronatine Insensitive 1)could form a protein complex in planta,which promotes the degradation of both CO and JAZ3 in the presence of *** together,our results indicate that CO,a key regulator of photoperiodic flowering,is also involved in promoting flower senescence and abscission by augmenting JA signaling and *** propose that coordinated recruitment of photoperiodic and JA signaling pathways could be an efficient way for plants to chronologically order floral processes and ensure the success of offspring production.
