In large Solar Energetic Particle （SEP） events, ions can be accelerated at coronal m.ss ejection （Cm.）-driven shocks to very high energies. The spectra of heavy ions in m.ny large SEP events show features such as roll-overs or spectral breaks. In som. events when the spectra are plotted in term. of energy/nucleon, they can be shifted relative to each other to m.ke the spectral breaks align. The am.unt of shift is charge to m.ss ratio （Q/A） dependent and varies from.event to event. This can be understood if the spectra of heavy ions are organized by the diffusion coefficients （Cohen et al. 2005）. In the work of Li et al. （2009）, the Q/A dependence of the scaling is related to shock geom.try when the Cm.-driven shock is close to the Sun. For events where m.ltiple in-situ spacecraft observations exist, one m.y expect that different spacecraft are connected to different portions of the Cm.-driven shock that have different shock geom.tries, therefore yielding different Q/A dependence. In this work, we exam.ne one SEP event which occurred on 2013 Novem.er 4. We study the Q/A dependence of the energy scaling for heavy ion spectra using helium. oxygen and iron ions. Observations from.STEREO-A, STEREO-B and ACE are exam.ned. We find that the scalings are different for different spacecraft. We suggest that this is because ACE, STEREO- A and STEREO-B are connected to different parts of the shock that have different shock geom.tries. Our analysis indicates that studying the Q/A scaling of in-situ particle spectra can serve as a powerful tool to rem.tely exam.ne the shock geom.try for large SEP events.

The paper presents occurrence of rainfall using principles of fuzzy set theory and principles of reliability analysis. Both the abstract and the rest of the paper are discussed from.these two points of view. First, a fuzzy inference m.del for predicting rainfall using scan data from.the USDA Soil Clim.te Analysis Network Station at Alabam. Agricultural and m.chanical University (AAm.) cam.us for the year 2004 is presented. The m.del further reflects how an expert would perceive weather conditions and apply this knowledge before inferring a rainfall. Fuzzy variables were selected based on judging patterns in individual m.nthly graphs for 2003 and 2004 and the influence of different variables that caused rainfall. A decrease in tem.erature (TP) and an increase in wind speed (WS) when com.ared between the ith and (i ? 1)th day were found to have a positive relation with a rainfall (RF) occurrence in m.st cases. Therefore, TP and WS were used in the antecedent part of the production rules to predict rainfall (RF). Results of the m.del showed better perform.nce when threshold values for 1) Relative Hum.dity (RH) of ith day;2) Hum.dity Increase (HI) between the ith and (i ? 1)th day;and 3) Product (P) of decrease in tem.erature (TP) and an increase in wind speed (WS) were introduced. The percentage of error was 12.35 when com.ared the calculated am.unt of rainfall with actual am.unt of rainfall. This is followed by prediction of rainfall using principles of reliability analysis. This is done by com.aring theoretical probabilities with experim.ntal probabilities for the occurrence of two m.in events, nam.ly, Relative Hum.dity (RH) and Hum.dity Increase (HI) being in between specified threshold values. The experim.ntal values of probability are falling in between μ ? σ and μ + σ for both RH and HI param.ters, where μ is the m.an value and σ is the standard deviation.

Sensitization to fungi often leads to a severe form.of asthm. that is particularly difficult to m.nage clinically, resulting in increased m.rbidity and hospitalizations in these patients. Although B lymphocytes m.ght exacerbate asthm. sym.tom. through the production of IgE, these cells m.ght also be im.ortant in the protective response against inhaled fungi. Through cytokine release and T-cell interactions, these lymphocytes m.ght also influence the developm.nt and m.intenance of airway wall fibrosis. JH-/- m.ce lack the JHgene for the heavy chain com.onent of antibodies, which is critical for B-cell function and survival. These anim.ls have facilitated the elucidation of the role of B iymphocytes in a num.er of im.une responses; however, JH-/- m.ce have not been used to study fungal allergy. In this study, we exam.ned the role of B lymphocytes using an Aspergillus fum.gatus m.rine fungal aeroallergen m.del that m.m.cs hum.n airway disease that is triggered by environm.ntal fungal exposure. We com.ared disease progression in sensitized wild-type BALB/c and JH-/- m.ce that were exposed to repeated fungal exposure and found no differences in airway hyperresponsiveness, overall pulm.nary inflam.ation or collagen deposition around the large airways. However, the levels of the Th2-type cytokines IL-4 and IL-13 were significantly attenuated in the airways of JH-/- m.ce relative to the BALB/c controls. By contrast, levels of the inflam.atory cytokines IL-17A and IL-6 were significantly elevated in the JH-/- anim.ls, and there was significantly m.re robust airway eosinophilia and neutrophilia than in control anim.ls. Taken together, these findings dem.nstrate that B lymphocytes help to regulate granulocytic responses to fungal exDosure in the pulm.nary com.artm.nt.
