Although a steady decline in the incidence and mortality rates of gastric carcinoma has been observed in the last century worldwide, the absolute number of new cases/year is increasing because of the aging of the population. So far, surgical resection with curative intent has been the only treatment providing hope for cure; therefore, gastric cancer surgery has become a specialized field in digestive surgery. Gastrectomy with lymph node (LN) dissection for cancer patients remains a challenging procedure which requires skilled, well-trained surgeons who are very familiar with the fast-evolving oncological principles of gastric cancer surgery. As a matter of fact, the extent of gastric resection and LN dissection depends on the size of the disease and gastric cancer surgery has become a patient and “disease-tailored” surgery, ranging from endoscopic resection to laparoscopic assisted gastrectomy and conventional extended multivisceral resections. LN metastases are the most important prognostic factor in patients that undergo curative resection. LN dissection remains the most challenging part of the operation due to the location of LN stations around major retroperitoneal vessels and adjacent organs, which are not routinely included in the resected specimen and need to be preserved in order to avoid dangerous intra- and postoperative complications. Hence, the surgeon is the most important non-TmN prognostic factor in gastric cancer. Subtotal gastrectomy is the treatment of choice for middle and distal-third gastric cancer as it provides similar survival rates and better functional outcome compared to total gastrectomy, especially in early-stage disease with favorable prognosis. Hepatocellular cancer （HCC） is the sixth most common malignant tumor worldwide and the most common primary liver cancer （1）. Liver resection or liver transplantation is the therapeutic gold standards in patient with HCC. Due to advanced disease, extrahepatic metastases, or inadequate liver reserve, only 15% to 30% of patients with HCC can undergo to surgery （2）. Five-year risk of recurrence of HCC after resection is as high as 70% because the underlying chronic liver disease continues to put the patient at risk for the development of new cancer nodules （3）. Starting from the assumption that recurrence may be newly treated with surgery, laparoscopic approach is recommended,

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is today considered the most common form of chronic liver disease, affecting a high proportion of the population worldwide. NAFLD encompasses a large spectrum of liver damage, ranging from simple steatosis to steatohepatitis, advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis. Obesity, hyperglycemia, type 2 diabetes and hypertriglyceridemia are the most important risk factors. The pathogenesis of NAFLD and its progression to fibrosis and chronic liver disease is still unknown. Accumulating evidence indicates that mitochondrial dysfunction plays a key role in the physiopathology of NAFLD, although the mechanisms underlying this dysfunction are still unclear. Oxidative stress is considered an important factor in producing lethal hepatocyte injury associated with NAFLD. mitochondrial respiratory chain is the main subcellular source of reactive oxygen species(ROS), which may damage mitochondrial proteins, lipids and mitochondrial DNA. Cardiolipin, a phospholipid located at the level of the inner mitochondrial membrane, plays an important role in several reactions and processes involved in mitochondrial bioenergetics as well as in mitochondrial dependent steps of apoptosis. This phospholipid is particularly susceptible to ROS attack. Cardiolipin peroxidation has been associated with mitochondrial dysfunction in multiple tissues in several physiopathological conditions, including NAFLD. In this review, we focus on the potential roles played by oxidative stress and cardiolipin alterations in mitochondrial dysfunction associated with NAFLD.

Hepatic adenoma (HA) is a rare indication for liver transplantation (LTx). So far 20 cases of LTx for HA are reported in Pubmed. In rare cases HA presents as multiple hepatic adenomas or recurrent adenoma after initial liver resection and in such cases LTx is the only potential cure and prevents the risk of bleeding or cancer transformation into hepatocellular carcinoma. We report the case of a 56 years old lady who underwent a left hepatectomy for giant adenoma in 2005 and resection of segment Ⅴ-Ⅵ for recurrence of liver adenoma in 2007. She developed a second recurrence of HA with 3 new lesions in the right liver in 2008. The patient underwent LTx. After 3 years the patient is alive with no evidence of disease. LTx is indicated in patients with HA in which resection is not technically feasible.

We present a video case of a 51-year-old man admitted to our surgical and liver transplantation unit for hepatocellular cancer（HCC）. Patient has a HCV cirrhosis with portal hypertension and esophageal varices F1. Child Pugh score was B7 and model of end staged liver disease（mELD） was 11. Body mass index（BmI） was 26.7 and ASA score was 2. No previous abdominal surgery. According with our multidisciplinary group we suggest a laparoscopic left lobectomy for the patient. Pringle manoeuvre was not performed. Operation time was 193 min and blood loss estimation was 100 cc. No transfusion was required. Postoperative course was uneventful, grade I of Clavien-Dindo Classification. Patient was discharged in day 8. In our experience laparoscopic resection in cirrhotic liver should be performed in selected patients and in an experienced team.

Bolted joints play a more and more important role in the structure with lighter weight and heavier *** paper aims to provide an overview of different experimental approaches for the dynamic behavior of structures in the presence of bolted joints,especially the energy dissipation or damping at frictional *** comprehension of energy dissipation mechanisms due to friction is provided first,while the key parameters and the measurement techniques,such as the excitation force,the preload of the bolt,or the pressure at the interfaces,are briefly ***,the round-robin systems aim to measure the hysteresis parameters of the frictional joints under tangential loads are reviewed,summarizing the basic theory and the strategies to apply the excitation force or acquire the response in different testing *** by parameter identification strategies for bolted structures,the test rigs with one or more simplified bolted joints are summarized to give an insight into the understanding of typical characteristics of bolted structures,which are affected by the presence of *** complex test rigs hosting real-like or actual engineering structures with bolted lap or flange joints are also introduced to show the identification process of the dynamic characteristics of bolted connections employed in specific *** on the review paper,researchers can get the basic knowledge about the experimental systems of the bolted structures,especially several classical round robin systems,such as the Gaul resonator and widely used Brake-Reußbeam *** can take advantage of this background for more creative and effective future studies,make more progress on the study of assembled structures and understand the influence of bolting frictional connections on the dynamic response better.

A new synchronization scheme for chaotic（hyperchaotic） maps with different dimensions is ***,given a drive system map with dimension n and a response system with dimension m,the proposed approach enables each drive system state to be synchronized with a linear response combination of the response system *** method,based on the Lyapunov stability theory and the pole placement technique,presents some useful features：（i） it enables synchronization to be achieved for both cases of n 〈 m and n 〉 m;（ii） it is rigorous,being based on theorems;（iii） it can be readily applied to any chaotic（hyperchaotic） maps defined to ***,the capability of the approach is illustrated by synchronization examples between the two-dimensional H′enon map（as the drive system） and the three-dimensional hyperchaotic Wang map（as the response system）,and the three-dimensional H′enon-like map（as the drive system） and the two-dimensional Lorenz discrete-time system（as the response system）.

We demonstrate in situ non-invasive relay imaging through a medium without inserting physical optical *** show that a virtual optical graded-index(GRIN)lens can be sculpted in the medium using in situ reconfigurable ultrasonic interference patterns to relay images through the *** wave patterns change the local density of the medium to sculpt a graded refractive index pattern normal to the direction of light propagation,which modulates the phase front of light,causing it to focus within the medium and effectively creating a virtual relay *** demonstrate the in situ relay imaging and resolving of small features(22μm)through a turbid medium(optical thickness=5.7 times the scattering mean free path),which is normally *** focal distance and the numerical aperture of the sculpted optical GRIN lens can be tuned by changing the ultrasonic wave *** an example,we experimentally demonstrate that the axial focal distance can be continuously scanned over a depth of 5.4mm in the modulated medium and that the numerical aperture can be tuned up to 21.5%.The interaction of ultrasonic waves and light can be mediated through different physical media,including turbid media,such as biological tissue,in which the ultrasonically sculpted GRIN lens can be used for relaying images of the underlying structures through the turbid medium,thus providing a potential alternative to implanting invasive endoscopes.
