Opal was first found in Ethiopia in the early *** from Mezezo in the historical Shewa province consist of nodules of a reddish brown volcanic rock with orange,reddish brown,or"chocolate"brown precious opal on the *** next major discovery occurred in2008,when white precious opal was found in the province of Wollo near Wegeltena,about 550 km north of Addis *** deposit still produces large amounts of white and crystal precious opal,and occasionally some dark material.

Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) is a rare autoimmune disease related to the lack of inhibition of excitatory neurons in the central nervous system leading to multiple motor dysfunction and symptoms due to uncontrolled motor neuron firing. The pathophysiology of the disease is not completely understood;however, high titers of Glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies (anti-GAD Ab) have been found in such patients, which leads to its high association with the disease. We present a case of a 52-year-old female with a 20-year history of ongoing gait and balance issues. She is diagnosed with multiple conditions, including stiff person syndrome (GAD+), spinocerebellar ataxia with epilepsy, systemic lupus erythematosus, type 1 diabetes mellitus, IgA deficiency, hypothyroidism, and pernicious anemia. She presented in our institution with a history of a recent fall from a wheelchair. We review the case presentation and association of anti-GAD antibodies with stiff person syndrome and its treatment.

Climate change, which is currently characterized by increased atmospheric CO2, rising temperature, and altered pattern of precipitation, is affecting agricultural productivity. Rising temperatures and shifting precipitation patterns will alter the ability to meet crop water requirements, water availability, crop productivity, and costs of water access across the agricultural landscape. Searching for alternative crops with lower water requirements increased yield or organic matter per unit of water are important for agricultural sustainability. Sorghum is one of the world’s important crops;a crop that is adapted to a variety of agronomic and environmental conditions, particularly to areas with low rainfall or limited access of irrigation water. Forage Sorghum is able to produce comparable yield to corn suggesting that there is a potential for Sorghum to replace corn in areas where water supply is limited. But, there is a cost since corn silage, because of its high grain content, which is typically superior in digestible energy content to Sorghum forages. There is also a lack of information on the feeding value of Sorghum silages in high producing dairy cows as well as strategies that may be used for sorghum silage to replace a portion of the corn silage in dairy cattle diets.

Long QT syndrome (LQT) is a disease of cardiac repolarization caused by alterations in the transmembrane potassium and sodium currents. This results in prolongation of the QT interval on electrocardiography (EKG) and can result in torsade de pointes and sudden cardiac death. We present a case of a patient who has Anderson Tawil syndrome;a congenital long QT syndrome, with a history of cardiac arrhythmias who developed acute paranoid schizophrenia that was refractory to treatment with non-QT-prolonging drugs and required institution of neuroleptics to control her psychiatric symptoms.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between married couples’premarital expectations and marital satisfaction in the Bole sub-city of Addis Ababa.A quantitative descriptive survey was employed in this study.A sample of 100 married couples(200 participants)was used as a primary source of *** sampling technique employed was a convenience sampling method.A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from primary ***’s correlation,standard linear regression,one way ANOVA,and independent T-test were used as data analysis techniques with an acceptable significance level(p<0.05).The result of the study indicated that there was a significantly positive relationship between premarital expectation and marital *** communication was observed to have a statistically significant predictor effect on marital ***-demographic factors assumed to have a contribution to variance in premarital expectations and marital satisfaction of couples have been identified;educational level,religious affiliation,and source of marital information were identified to have a contribution to differences in premarital ***,religious affiliation,income level,and duration of courtship were identified to have a significant contribution to differences in marital satisfaction of married *** findings of the study have practical implications in marriage counseling,couples capacity building training,couples conflict resolution,and for researchers in the area of marriage and marital relationship.

Projecting future changes of streamflow in the Abby River Basin (ARB) is important for planning and proper management of the basin system. The current study conducted in five stations of the Abbay river basin, and investigated the annual temperature, precipitation, and river discharge variability using the Innovative trend analysis method, Mann-Kendall, and Sen’s slope test estimator. The result showed a slightly increasing trend of annual precipitation in Assoa (Z = 0.71), Bahir Dar (Z = 0.13), and Gonder (Z = 0.26) stations, while a significant increasing trend was observed in Nedgo (Z = 2.45) and Motta (Z = 1.06) stations. Interestingly, the trend of annual temperature in Assosa (Z = 5.88), Bahir Dar (Z = 3.87), Gonder (Z = 4.38), Nedgo (Z = 4.77), and Motta (Z = 2.85) was abruptly increased. The average mean temperature has increased by 0.2°C in the past 36 years (1980 to 2016). The extreme high temperature was observed in the semi-dry zone of northern Ethiopia. During the study period, a significant declining trend of the river discharge was recorded, and the river discharge was sharply decreased from 1992 onwards. The results of the current study showed annual variability of river discharge, precipitation, and temperature of the study area of the basin that could be used as a basis for future studies.

为探究海上浮式生产储油卸油船(floating production storage and offloading,FPSO)爆燃事故加强机制,采用计算流体力学(computational fluid dynamics,CFD)对FPSO爆燃事故进行数值模拟。模拟结果表明,在拥塞度较大的钢架结构区域,火焰速度和爆燃压力急剧增大。为进一步探究复杂钢架结构和管系对爆燃事故的加强机制,搭建半开敞管道甲烷-空气爆燃实验系统。实验结果表明,在爆燃过程中复杂钢架结构和管系能够诱导火焰产生强烈的湍流作用,加快未燃气体的燃烧速度,导致爆燃事故后果加强。结合数值模拟结果与实验结果,为FPSO爆燃事故防治给出建议。
