Development of a variable rate applicator for uniform fertilizer spreading

Environmental impact and economic concerns have driven a variable rate technology(VRT).Spinner spreaders were mainly used for granular fertilizer application since they are simple in design,inexpensive,and can cover large ***,the spreader was not adequate for VRT because uniformity changes drastically while varying application ***,the purpose of this study was to develop a variable rate applicator with uniform spreading patterns.A commercial spreader was modified with a controller and electric actuators for controlling fertilizer discharge directions and *** was established to determine the optimum discharge direction according to the fertilizer application *** uniformity of spreading patterns in accordance with the spread amount per set unit area was evaluated by the statistical coefficient of variation(CV)lower than 15%is assumed to prevent damage to the *** results showed that CVs were 8%,9%,and 8%,respectively,for a tractor in race track mode(adjacent passes in same direction of travel)at 200 kg/hm^(2),300 kg/hm^(2),and 400 kg/hm^(2).This indicates that the fertilizer was spread uniformly,while the coefficient of variation was 12%at 200 kg/hm^(2) in back and forth mode(adjacent passes in the opposite direction of travel).Overall,the results suggest that the race track mode is suitable for operation of a tractor to ensure uniform spreading of fertilizer when applying at variable *** future goal is to establish a system for automatic variable rate application according to location in connection with soil analysis and geographic information systems.

Enhancement of Performance by Blade Optimization in Two-Stage Ring Blower

This paper describes the shape optimization of an impeller used for two-stage high pressure ring *** shape variables,which are used to define an impeller shape,are introduced to increase the blower *** pressure of a blower is selected as an object function,and the blade optimization is performed by a response surface ***-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are introduced to analyze the internal flow of the blower and to find the value of object function for the training *** good agreement between experimental measurements and numerical simulation is obtained in the present *** the shape optimization,it is found that a hub height is effective to increase pressure in the ring *** pressure rise for the optimal two-stage ring blower is successfully increased up to 1.86% compared with that of reference at the design flow *** recirculation flow having low velocity is formed in both sides of the impeller outlet by different flow direction of the inlet and outlet of the *** flow field inside the ring blower is also analyzed and discussed.

A Fuzzy Shape Control Method for Stainless Steel Strip on Sendzimir Rolling Mill

The strip shape in the stainless steel process has made an issue of the strip *** objective of the shape control is to minimize the shape deviation and to maintain symmetrical shape patterns in the lateral *** method of the shape recognition employs the least square *** shape deviation is controlled by the fuzzy shape controller（FSC）.The experiments have been performed online for various stainless materials,thicknesses,and strip *** test results show very efficient performances in respect of stable target tracking and symmetrical and minimal fluctuation of the strip shape.

Primary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in the common bile duct:First Asian case report

Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) in the biliary system is a poorly differentiated, high-grade neuroendocrine tumor. These tumors exhibit aggressive behavior and an increased tendency for early nodal and distant metastases. Herein, we report an unusual case of a pure primary LCNEC of the common bile duct (CBD). A 75-year-old female presented with nausea and jaundice. The patient underwent a CBD excision with lymph node dissection. Upon histological and immunohistochemical examination, the tumor exhibited pure large cell-type neuroendocrine features. Metastases were noted in two of the eight lymph nodes. The patient was administered adjuvant chemotherapy. The patient’s cancer recurred 7 mo after surgery, and the patient died from liver failure 5 mo after recurrence. The prognosis of LCNEC of CBD remains poor despite curative resection and adjuvant chemotherapy. The role of additional therapies, such as multimodal treatment including radiation therapy, must be further studied to improve the prognoses of patients.

A School of Robotic Fish for Mariculture Monitoring in the Sea Coast

This paper presents a multi-agent robotic fish system used for mariculture monitoring. Autonomous robotic fish is designed to swim underwater to collect marine information such as water temperature and pollution level. Each robotic fish has 5 degrees of freedom for controlling its depth and speed by milnicking a sea carp. Its bionic body design enables it to have high swimming efficiency and less disturbance to the surrounding sea lives. Several onboard sensors are equipped for autonomous 3D naviga- tion tasks such as path planning, obstacle avoidance and depth maintenance. A robotic buoy floating on the water surface is deployed as a control hub to communicate with individual robots, which in turn form a multi-agent system to monitor and cover a large scale sea coast cooperatively. Both laboratory experiments and field testing have been conducted to verify the feasibility and performance of the proposed multi-agent system.

Case Report:Congenital atresia of the left main coronary artery in an infant

Congenital atresia of the left main coronary artery is a rare occurrence, and surgical revascularizationbypass graft is required. We here report a rare case of congenital coronary anomaly in an infant. A lO-month-old male infant was admitted to the hospital with heart failure symptoms. Echocardiographic examinations revealed mitral valve regurgitation and ischemic changes of the anterolateral atresia of the left main coronary artery with a severe papillary muscle and chordae. Coronary angiography showed hypoplastic left anterior descending artery and a circumflex coronary artery. Unfortunately, sudden cardiac arrest occurred after catheterization and the infant did not recover despite of immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Further studies are needed to find a newer diagnostic method to detect coronary anomaly in an infant, and coronary angiography, if necessary, has to be performed very carefully.

Aim:Pro-inflammatory mediators,such as prostaglandin E2（PGE2） and nitric oxide（NO）,and pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin （IL）-1β,IL-6,and TNF-α,play pivotal roles in brain *** anti-inflammatory properties are knownto be associated with significant reductions in pro-inflammatory mediators in *** the present study we investigate whether the effects of curcumin onthe production of pro-inflammatory mediators in lipopolysaccharide （LPS）-stimu-lated BV2 ***:Curcumin were administered and their effects onLPS-induced pro-inflammatory mediators were monitored by Western blottingand ***:Curcumin significantly inhibited the release of NO,PGE2,and pro-inflammatory cytokines in a dose-dependent *** alsoattenuated the expressions of inducible NO synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 mRNAand protein ***,curcumin suppressed NF-kB activation via thetranslocation of p65 into the *** data also indicate that curcumin exertsanti-inflammatory properties by suppressing the transcription of proinflammatorycytokine genes through the NF-kB signaling ***:Anti-inflam-matory properties of curcumin may be useful for treating the inflammatory anddeleterious effects of microglial activation in response to LPS stimulation.

Passivation engineering via silica‐encapsulated quantum dots for highly sensitive photodetection

Most organic electrode materials(OEMs)for rechargeable batteries employ n-type redox centers,whose redox potentials are intrinsically limited<3.0 V versus Li^(+)/***,p-type materials possessing high redox potentials experience low specific capacities because they are capable of only a single redox reaction within the stable electrochemical window of typical ***,we report 5,11-diethyl-5,11-dihydroindolo[3,2-b]carbazole(DEICZ)as a novel p-type OEM,exhibiting stable plateaus at high discharge potentials of 3.44 and 4.09 V versus Li^(+)/***,the second redox potential of DEICZ is within the stable electrochemical *** mechanism of the double redox reaction is investigated using both theoretical calculations and experimental measurements,including density functional theory calculations,ex situ electron spin resonance,and X-ray photoelectron ***,hybridization with single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNT)improves the cycle stability and rate performance of DEICZ owing to theπ-πinteractions between the SWCNT and co-planar molecular structure of DEICZ,preventing the dissolution of active materials into the *** DEICZ/SWCNT composite electrode maintains 70.4%of its initial specific capacity at 1-C rate and also exhibits high-rate capability,even performing well at 100-C ***,we demonstrate its potential for flexible batteries after applying 1000 bending stresses to the composite electrode.
