Tailoring Light–Matter Interactions in Overcoupled Resonator for Biomolecule Recognition and Detection

Plasmonic nanoantennas provide unique opportunities for precise control of light–matter coupling in surface-enhanced infrared absorption(SEIRA)spectroscopy,but most of the resonant systems realized so far suffer from the obstacles of low sensitivity,narrow bandwidth,and asymmetric Fano resonance ***,we demonstrated an overcoupled resonator with a high plasmon-molecule coupling coefficient(μ)(OC-Hμresonator)by precisely controlling the radiation loss channel,the resonator-oscillator coupling channel,and the frequency detuning *** observed a strong dependence of the sensing performance on the coupling state,and demonstrated that OC-Hμresonator has excellent sensing properties of ultra-sensitive(7.25%nm^(−1)),ultra-broadband(3–10μm),and immune asymmetric Fano *** characteristics represent a breakthrough in SEIRA technology and lay the foundation for specific recognition of biomolecules,trace detection,and protein secondary structure analysis using a single array(array size is 100×100μm^(2)).In addition,with the assistance of machine learning,mixture classification,concentration prediction and spectral reconstruction were achieved with the highest accuracy of 100%.Finally,we demonstrated the potential of OC-Hμresonator for SARS-CoV-2 *** findings will promote the wider application of SEIRA technology,while providing new ideas for other enhanced spectroscopy technologies,quantum photonics and studying light–matter interactions.

Herein,we examine the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells containing five D-π-A organic dyes designed by systematic modification of π-bridge size and geometric *** dye has a simple push-pull structure with a triarylamino group as an electron donor,bithiophene-4,4-dimethyl-4 H-cyclopenta 1,2-b:5,4-b’]dithiophene(M11),4,4-dimethyl-4 H-cyclopenta[1,2-b:5,4-b’]dithiophenethiophene(M12),thiophene-4,4-dimethyl-4 H-cyclopenta[1,2-b:5,4-b’]dithiophene(M13),4,4-dimethyl-4 H-cyclopenta[1,2-b:5,4-b’]dithiophene-benzene(M14),and 4,4-dimethyl-4 H-cyclopenta[1,2-b:5,4-b’]dithiophene(M15)units asπ-bridges,and cyanoacrylic acid as an electron acceptor/*** extension of theπ-bridge linkage favors wide-range absorption but,because of the concomitant molecular volume increase,hinders the efficient adsorption of dyes on the TiO_(2) film ***,higher loadings are achieved for smaller dye molecules,resulting in(i)a shift of the TiO_(2) conduction band edge to more negative values,(ii)a greater photocurrent,and(iii)suppressed charge recombination between the photoanode and the redox couple in the ***,under one-sun equivalent illumination(AM 1.5 G,100 mW/cm^(2)),the highest photovoltage,photocurrent,and conversion efficiency(η=7.19%)are observed for M15,which has the smallest molecular volume among M series dyes.

Personal video recorders (PVRs) have altered the way users consume television (TV) content by allowing users to record programs and watch them at their convenience, overcoming the constraints of live broadcasting. However, standalone PVRs are limited by their individual storage capacities, restricting the number of programs they can store. While online catch-up TV services such as Hulu and Netflix mitigate this limitation by offering on-demand access to broadcast programs shortly after their initial broadcast, they require substantial storage and network resources, leading to significant infrastructural costs for service providers. To address these challenges, we propose a collaborative TV content recording system that leverages distributed PVRs, combining their storage into a virtual shared pool without additional costs. Our system aims to support all concurrent playback requests without service interruption while ensuring program availability comparable to that of local devices. The main contributions of our proposed system are fourfold. First, by sharing storage and upload bandwidth among PVRs, our system significantly expands the overall recording capacity and enables simultaneous recording of multiple programs without the physical constraints of standalone devices. Second, by utilizing erasure coding efficiently, our system reduces the storage space required for each program, allowing more programs to be recorded compared to traditional replication. Third, we propose an adaptive redundancy scheme to control the degree of redundancy of each program based on its evolving playback demand, ensuring high-quality playback by providing sufficient bandwidth for popular programs. Finally, we introduce a contribution-based incentive policy that encourages PVRs to actively participate by contributing resources, while discouraging excessive consumption of the combined storage pool. In research on small mobile robots and biomimetic robots, locomotion ability remains a major issue despite many advances in technology. However, evolution has led to there being many real animals capable of exceUent locomotion. This paper presents a ＂parasitic robot system＂ whereby locomotion abilities of an animal are applied to a robot task. We chose a turtle as our first host animal and designed a parasitic robot that can perform ＂operant conditioning＂. The parasitic robot, which is attached to the turtle, can induce object-tracking behavior of the turtle toward a Light Emitting Diode （LED） and positively reinforce the behavior through repeated stimulus-response interaction. After training sessions over five weeks, the robot could successfully control the direction of movement of the trained turtles in the waypoint navigation task. This hybrid animal-robot interaction system could provide an alternative solution to some of the limitations of conventional mobile robot systems in various fields, and could also act as a useful interaction system for the behavioral sciences.

Response of ground beetles(Coleoptera:Carabidae)to forest gaps formed by a typhoon in a red pine forest at Gwangneung Forest,Republic of Korea

In Korea, damaging typhoons related to climate change have increased steadily since the 1990s. Red pine （Pinus densiflora） forests in Gwangneung Forest were greatly disturbed by typhoon Kompasu in 2010. A survey was carried out to clarify differences in ground beetle （Coleoptera： Carabidae） communities between forest gaps and undamaged forests. Ground beetles were sampled using pitfall traps from early May to late October 2011. Vegetation changes, litter layer, organic matter layer, and soil conditions were also measured. A total of 1035 ground beetles of 32 species were collected. Contrary to our expectation, species richness, abundance, and community structure of the ground beetles in forest gaps were similar to those in undamaged forests. Species richness and abundance of habitat type were also similar. However, species diversity and estimated species richness in forest gaps were significantly higher than in undamaged forests. These findings suggest that forest gaps formed by a typhoon did not lead to great change in ground beetle communities.

A new separation algorithm based on contour segments and ellipse fitting is proposed to separate the ellipse-like touching grain kernels in digital *** image is filtered and converted into a binary image *** the contour of touching grain kernels is extracted and divided into contour segments (CS) with the concave points on *** next step is to merge the contour segments,which is the main contribution of this *** distance measurement (DM) and deviation error measurement (DEM) are proposed to test whether the contour segments pertain to the same kernel or *** they pass the measurement and judgment,they are merged as a new *** with these newly merged contour segments,the ellipses are fitted as the representative ellipses for touching *** verify the proposed algorithm,six different kinds of Korean grains were *** results showed that the proposed method is efficient and accurate for the separation of the touching grain kernels.

This review focuses on layer by layer （LBL） assembly-based nano ecological sensor （hereafter, eco-sensor） for pesticide detection, which is one of the most versatile methods. The effects of pesticides on human health and on the environment （air, water, soil, plants, and animals） are of great concern due to their increasing use. We highlight two of the most popular detecting methods, i.e., fluorescence and electrochemical detection of pesticides on an LBL assembly. Fluorescence materials are of great interest among researchers for their sensitivity and reliable detection, and electrochemical processes allow us to investigate synergistic interactions among film components through charge transfer mechanisms in LBL film at the molecular level. Then, we noted some prospective directions for development of different types of sensing systems.

The generation of highly efficient electricity and the production of massive hydrogen are possible using a very high temperature reactor （VHTR） among generation IV nuclear power plants. The structural material for an intermediate heat exchanger （IHX） among numerous components should be endurable at high temperature of up to 950 °C during long-term operation. Impurities inevitably introduced in helium as a coolant facilitate the material degradation by corrosion at high temperature. In the present work, the surface reactions available under controlled impure helium at 950 °C were investigated based on the thermodynamics and the corrosion tests were performed in a temperature range of 850-950 °C during 10-250 h for commercial Alloy 617 as a candidate material for an IHX. Moreover, the mechanical property and microstructure for nickel-based alloys fabricated in laboratory were evaluated as a function of the processing parameters such as hot rolling and heat treatment conditions. From the reaction rate constant obtained from an impure helium control system for a material evaluation, it was predicted that the outer oxide layer thickness, internal oxide depth, and carbide- depleted zone depth reach about 116, 600 and 1000 μm, respectively when Alloy 617 is exposed to an impure helium environment at 950 ~C for 20 years. For Ni-Cr-Co-Mo alloy, subsequent annealing and a combination of cold working and subsequent annealing following solution annealing caused increases in the grain boundary carbide coverage and size. The angular distribution of the grain boundary as well as the carbide distribution was also changed leading to a consequent improvement of the mechanical property at 950 °C in air.
